Chapter 1106: Chapter 1102: Jade Emperor Temple

"Can you tell me where we’re going now? Otherwise, I can’t drive."

Taozi turned her head to look at the back seat, her tone carrying a bit of helplessness.

Originally, Shen Siyuan should have sat in the passenger seat, but with the two little ones, he had to sit in the back to look after them.

Xiao Ya was so well-behaved as soon as she got in the car. She fastened her seatbelt by herself, leaned quietly against the seatback, and looked out the window without making a fuss.

However, Tang Tang was the complete opposite. She couldn’t sit still for a moment, kicking the seat with her short legs, then curling up on Shen Siyuan’s lap, waving a hand puppet around without a care.

"Oh~ oh~"

She was humming nonsensical tunes, the hand puppet in her hand swaying along with the sound, acting out a performance with great fervor.

"To Jade Emperor Temple."

Shen Siyuan raised his hand to hold down her restless legs and spoke calmly.

"Jade Emperor Temple?" Taozi was slightly taken aback upon hearing this.

She naturally knew this place. As a child, she had gone there a few times with her family elders, but that was many years ago.

Most of the devotees at Jade Emperor Temple were local elderly people from Bin Hai, seeking peace and smoothness in life. Young people rarely went there.

Though curious about Shen Siyuan’s sudden urge to visit the temple, Taozi didn’t ask further. He always had his reasons for what he did; she just needed to follow through.

Not saying more, Taozi turned the key to start the car. The red Lexus slowly drove out of the underground garage, merging into the stream of street traffic.

As the car hit the main road, steadily moving forward, Tang Tang, who had been lying on Shen Siyuan’s lap, suddenly sat up, kneeling on the seat with both hands and feet, peering at the car window glass. Her big, curious eyes stared at the rapidly passing scenery outside, her little mouth continuously uttering playful sounds.

"Tangdou, that’s the sea, and there are big fish in the sea..."

"The big fish chomp chomp eat children..."

"The child swims fast, hides in the forest and can’t be seen..."

"Then a big octopus comes swiftly, whisking the child away..."

...

She babbled on, making up stories, the hand puppet in her hand shaking along with the plot, looking earnest and adorable.

Shen Siyuan bent down, leaning close to the quietly sitting Xiao Ya, and asked softly, "What is she mumbling about?"

As soon as Xiao Ya realized Shen Siyuan was whispering to her, she immediately beamed a sweet smile and responded softly in his ear, "She’s telling a story to Tangdou."

"Tangdou?" Shen Siyuan raised an eyebrow.

"It’s the name she gave to the doll in her hand," Xiao Ya explained, pointing to the hand puppet Tang Tang clutched, her voice gentle.

"I see."

Shen Siyuan chuckled softly, rubbing Xiao Ya’s little head, "And would you want one too? We could have Aunt Mao stitch one for you?"

Xiao Ya quickly shook her head, looking very sensible, "Aunt Mao asked me before, but I didn’t want one. I don’t really like those, and making one takes so much effort. It’s too troublesome."

Seeing her sensible demeanor, Shen Siyuan couldn’t help feeling a twinge of affection.

This child was always considering others, afraid of being bothersome, and reluctant to express her preferences openly, living too cautiously.

He gently patted her shoulder, earnestly advising, "Xiao Ya, you’re such a good girl. But if you really like something in the future, just say it out loud. Don’t always worry about others. Kids should be honest, saying what they really think, okay?"

Xiao Ya blinked, seemingly understanding, and nodded, a joyous smile on her little face, "Okay, I understand, Uncle."

As the two were whispering, Tang Tang suddenly turned back, seeing Shen Siyuan bent over talking quietly with Xiao Ya, not knowing what they were saying, her little face immediately showed displeasure.

She abandoned her storytelling to Tangdou, stepping onto Shen Siyuan’s legs, twisting her little body, forcefully squeezing between him and Xiao Ya, tilting her chubby face and perking up her ears. Her big eyes darting around, making it clear she wanted in on the secret conversations too.

Shen Siyuan and Xiao Ya exchanged a look and were amused by her adorable yet assertive demeanor.

The next moment, Shen Siyuan and Xiao Ya each kissed one of Tang Tang’s round, pudgy cheeks with a "smooch."

"Eh?"

Tang Tang was startled for a moment. Then, wrinkling her small brows, she disdainfully covered her kissed cheek with her little hand. However, she couldn’t stop the corners of her mouth from curling upwards, eventually breaking into a hearty "hahaha" laughter, her small body bouncing with joy.

Jade Emperor Temple, officially known as Jade Emperor Great Temple, was located within Binhai City District, not too far away. Amidst their chatting and laughing, the car quickly arrived at the destination.

Shen Siyuan opened the car door and stepped out, looking up to see incense smoke lingering densely at the mountain gate.

This temple was incredibly famous in Bin Hai; indeed, believers came daily to worship. During festivals, it was even more crowded, a place locals deemed highly efficacious for blessings.

Yet, despite such a bustling place, the temple appeared simple and unadorned, like a rustic farmhouse with nothing remarkable at first glance.

However, in Shen Siyuan’s eyes, the thick, lingering incense smoke in the air completely obscured the surroundings.

"Oh~" 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Following down from the car, Tang Tang also gazed at the sky, mouth slightly open, looking surprised.

Only Xiao Ya, confused, raised her head to closely inspect the clear blue sky, not understanding what they were looking at.

Taozi parked the car, seeing the three standing by the roadside. "Why don’t you take the kids in first? You don’t have to wait here for me."

"Go ahead and take them inside to look around. I have something to do and will be right there," said Shen Siyuan.

"I thought you invited me for fun, turns out you have business to attend," Taozi grumbled with mild displeasure.

"For fun, yes, and business too. They don’t conflict. Hurry inside; I’ll be quick."

Shen Siyuan laughed, reaching out to pinch her chin.

Taozi’s chin was soft and plump, with a nice feel to it, pleasant to pinch.

"Tch~"

Taozi gave an annoyed slap at his hand, then went to hold Xiao Ya and Tang Tang’s hands.

But Tang Tang motioned for her to bend down with a little wave.

Taozi was a bit puzzled about her intention but complied and bent down.

Then she saw Tang Tang stretch out her small hand, feel her chin, and give it a gentle pinch, wearing a thoughtful look as if pondering, "What’s so special about this?"

Taozi: ...

"Haha~" Shen Siyuan laughed heartily.

"You little rascal."

Taozi lightly knocked on her little head, then led her and Xiao Ya towards the Jade Emperor Temple.

But after only a few steps, Tang Tang broke free from Taozi’s hand, sticking her little butt out, searching the ground for something unknown.
