Ten Thousand Soul Banner: Deceased, do you have any unfulfilled wishes?-Chapter 1126 - 1122: Weiwei
Jiang Yingxue’s hospital room was on the sixth floor of the obstetrics and gynecology department.
Although Dou Dou was not clear about what "obstetrics and gynecology" meant, she used her previous memories to roughly figure out the direction.
Instead of using the convenience of being ghosts to float directly up the stairs, the two climbed step by step.
For them, this sneaky trip out was already an adventure; walking slowly allowed them to find more enjoyment.
The hospital stairwell was not quiet; there were always some family members pacing with worry on their faces.
This was the easiest place to encounter various people and ghosts.
Hospitals never lacked patients, and naturally, never lacked dead souls either.
Some ghosts took their last breath here, and their souls lingered in the familiar place.
Some were unwilling to leave their relatives in the hospital room unattended, guarding them day and night.
Some were waiting for their living relatives, to journey together to the Yellow Springs.
This place was truly cruel, the cycle of life and death and the joys and sorrows playing out constantly.
But for Duoduo and Dou Dou, these scenes had become ordinary.
Their hearts were already hardened, like buns left in a freezer overnight, cold and solid, as Dou Dou put it herself.
"I feel like a big cold bun now."
Dou Dou, hopping and bouncing as she climbed the stairs, raised her chin proudly, "I won’t cry over other people’s business anymore."
Duoduo glanced at her sideways but did not respond. She didn’t believe Dou Dou’s ghosttalk.
The two continued walking and chatting about the ghosts they encountered along the way.
"That old grandpa downstairs has been squatting at the door for a long time. He’s waiting for the old grandma inside to go with her together..." said Duoduo.
"They must be really good friends," Dou Dou replied.
"That uncle died, and his son is sick and also dying, leaving only the aunt, who’s so sad that her hair turned white..." Duoduo continued.
"Wow, so there will be no one to control her in the future. She can eat whatever she wants and go wherever she wants," Dou Dou said.
"And that brother, he was killed in a car accident, and then his wife married the person who hit him. Now she’s having a baby with him..." Dou Dou commented.
"Huh, she has a husband, how can she marry someone else? My mom says that’s wrong, it’s a crime. Shouldn’t we report it to the police uncle?" Dou Dou asked.
...
The two continued chatting as they walked until they saw a little girl crouching at a hospital room door, standing on tiptoes, peeking through the door crevice.
"What’s that little girl looking at?" Dou Dou curiously asked.
"It’s an older sister," Duoduo corrected her, "she looks older than you."
"That’s not true." Dou Dou immediately retorted, straightening her neck, "I turned a year older this New Year; I’m a big kid now."
Duoduo ignored her, walked straight over, and mimicked the little girl’s posture, sneaking a peek inside the ward.
This sudden movement startled the little girl at the door, who quickly turned around, her big eyes wide open.
Clearly, this little girl was also a ghost.
She seemed about six or seven years old, so small and skinny, with long black hair draped over her shoulders, wearing a light blue chiffon dress that made her look particularly gentle and pretty.
"Who... who are you?" the little girl asked timidly, her voice faint like a mosquito.
"I’m Dou Dou." Dou Dou jumped in before Duoduo, bouncing over.
Duoduo glanced at her and then said softly, "My name is Lin Yunduo, you can call me Duoduo."
Only then did Dou Dou realize, hurriedly adding, "I... I’m Tao Hongdou, hehe..."
She almost forgot her own name again.
"I’m Meng Yuwei, you can call me Weiwei," the little girl quickly introduced herself.
"Hello, little sister, what are you doing crouching here?"
Dou Dou again took the lead, tilting her head inquisitively.
Weiwei didn’t answer immediately, instead, she sized up Dou Dou, then gently pointed to the ward behind her, her voice low like a sigh: "The little brother inside... is about to die."
"Oh, so your brother is dying, are you waiting to go to the Netherworld with him?" Dou Dou asked, suddenly understanding.
"He’s not my brother," Weiwei quickly said.
"So he’s your good friend?" Dou Dou continued.
Weiwei shook her head, "I don’t even know him."
Dou Dou scratched her head upon hearing this, puzzled, "Then what are you doing here? Watching him die?"
As she spoke, she rolled her eyes, stuck her tongue out, and pretended to be dead, making Weiwei giggle a bit, a faint smile appearing at the corner of her mouth.
"No, I’m waiting for my dad," Weiwei replied.
"Your dad?" 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Dou Dou glanced into the ward and indeed saw a man and a woman sitting expressionlessly by the hospital bed.
"So your dad wants to see the little brother die," Dou Dou said, enlightened.
Weiwei: ...
"No, that’s not my dad." Weiwei was at a loss for words.
Dou Dou wanted to continue, but Duoduo pulled her aside.
"Where did your dad go?" Duoduo asked.
"He went to buy clothes for the little brother inside, he’ll be back soon," Weiwei replied.
Then she added, "The little brother’s parents wanted to get him new clothes. My dad is a delivery guy, he took the order to buy clothes for the little brother, he’ll be back soon. I’m waiting for him here..."
"But at this time, you can’t buy clothes, all the stores are closed," Dou Dou said.
Because of her frequent nocturnal adventures, she was quite the authority on this matter.
"My dad will definitely be able to get them," Weiwei said confidently.
"Is he a clothes seller?" Dou Dou asked.
"Silly, she already said he’s a delivery man. How could he be a clothes seller?" Duoduo exclaimed, quite speechless.
Dou Dou argued, "There’s no rule that says a delivery man can’t sell clothes. I once saw a delivery guy playing the piano."
As she spoke, she mimicked playing an invisible piano with her fingers.
What she said made so much sense that Duoduo couldn’t retort for a moment.
Weiwei then said, "My dad only delivers, but he’ll figure something out. He’s the best dad."
Dou Dou: →_→
Dou Dou leaned over to Duoduo’s ear and whispered, "She doesn’t seem very smart, saying her dad is the best. She doesn’t know my dad is actually the best dad."
Duoduo: ...
"You’re talking nonsense, you’re the silly one." Duoduo said annoyed.
"My dad is the best dad; he was even a policeman before, always catching bad guys," Duoduo retorted, unconvinced.
Upon hearing this, Dou Dou widened her eyes and drew in a gasp of air.
Her dad was a policeman; it seemed her dad couldn’t quite measure up.
But how could she admit defeat just like that?
"That’s not your dad, that’s your grandpa. He’s got a white beard," Dou Dou said.
Weiwei: ...
