The Alpha King's Nemesis-Chapter 173: Be A Mother ()
In the meeting hall of the Ethereal Palace, the Elders of the Council had been urgently gathered after word of what had taken place spread.
The Elders had all arrived in a hurry and even at this moment, seated in the meeting hall, the Council still tried to make sense of what they had heard.
"This is a very delicate situation and may endanger the unity of the Ethereal Alphas and give rise to internal strife! This will surely pit the Alphas against the royals..."
"It will reflect badly on the Royal Lycan!" An Elder of the Ethereal Council reiterated the obvious.
"Indeed, we must be cautious of how we handle this. Caedmon Grey is a respected Ethereal Alpha, if it appears that he is wronged, the Ethereal Alphas will not stand by." Another elder concurred.
"How is it possible that both Alpha Caedmon and His Grace are mates to the Crimson Alpha? Something is just not right." A third elder commented in concern.
"Have I not already said it? That this Crimson Alpha is more trouble than she is worth! Now look what has happened." Queen Sancia hissed.
Various opinions were presented around the table, each valid and reasonable but there was not a single mention of what exactly the solution to the problem could be.
It was a situation that was not easy to deal with and no one dared speak casually.
The audience hall of the Ethereal Palace descended into tense silence the moment Lucas, the Alpha King’s second in command strode into the hall.
The expression on Lucas’s face was completely unpleasant, his eyes were set into a cold glare and even his strides and the manner in which he walked screamed of his agitation.
The Elders of the Council still waited in apprehension, but it was only when Lucas stood by the sit at the head of the meeting table that they realised there was no one coming in behind him.
The Elders exchanged glances at the unspoken message that the Alpha King would not be gracing the Council with his presence.
"Lucas, with all due respects, we have requested to see the Alpha King." One of the Elders spoke up.
Lucas’s cold gaze moved to settle on the Elder who had dared enough to break the silence.
"So you have, but you will be dealing with me." Lucas replied in a factual tone.
"Where could the Alpha King be in such a situation? How are we to carry on this meeting in his absence when the topic of discussion centers around him?" Another Elder enquired in confusion.
"My King is presently indisposed. He is not under any obligations to honor an invite to this gathering or to be where you want him to be as at when you feel is right." Lucas made clear.
"My King will see you when it pleases him to do so and not a moment before, however out of his regard for the Council, he has sent me in his place to make this clear." Lucas paused, his gaze moving around the hall, intentionally meeting a few eyes.
Lucas’s gaze lingered particularly on Queen Sancia who was quick to divert her gaze and stare ahead.
"My King hopes the Council has not forgotten the lesson in a hurry. The personal affairs, especially those related to My King’s mate are not up for discussion or deliberation." Lucas clarified.
"By anyone... regardless of status or standing." Lucas added for good measure.
"The only debate that is allowed to take place in this hall today is one that decides what is to be done about the disrespect and dishonor Caedmon Grey of Waning Moon has shown to the Ethereal Alpha King."
"Now, if I have been clear enough, you may carry on and file in a report at the close of your deliberations. My King will take your report into close consideration before a decree is passed." Lucas concluded.
With that, he strode away but paused in his step when his attention was called by an Elder.
"Lucas... the topic you have put forward for deliberation, what is His Grace’s stance on it?" The Elder asked cautiously.
"I am only a messenger. I do not dare make assumptions as to My King’s thoughts..." Lucas begin.
"However, My King has made use of the word...execution." Lucas revealed and then strode out of the hall.
Lucas walked down the hallway, stopping when he had just turned a corner because he could already tell he was being followed.
Lucas turned around to meet Queen Sancia’s worried gaze which Lucas returned with a chilling cold glare of his own.
"Lucas, I am still your superior." Queen Sancia reminded.
"Of course, Your Highness." Lucas replied in a tight tone, lowering his head to a small bow.
Queen Sancia frowned slightly but did not comment further on it, she settled to get straight to her reason for following behind Lucas.
"Askel, is he really unwilling to see the Council...or unable?" Queen Sancia asked warily.
"What do you think?" Lucas replied in a blank tone.
Queen Sancia’s eyes widened in horror.
"The beast has taken over... you should have sent word to me!" Queen Sancia hissed.
"You knew exactly what had happened three days ago before any of those Elders even caught word..."
"You know exactly what happens when Askel is extremely emotionally unstable or raging...yet you choose to sit at a Council and badmouth Askel’s woman." Lucas reminded.
"Askel...he loves Zariah. He loves her and no other considerations should matter beyond this! Why is this so hard for you to understand?! "
"And now, he may lose the woman he loves... you cannot begin to fathom the pain and turmoil he is in."
"Rather than standing here, deliberating ranks and status with me, you may want to try being a mother to your son... for once in your life." Lucas stated blankly.
"Your Highness." Lucas added as an after thought, inclining his head slightly before he turned and strode away, not sparing another glance to Queen Sancia’s guilty and teary eyes.
