The Alpha's Forsaken Feisty Mate-Chapter 174: You’ve grown up so much
Radulf exited the room and saw Savio was awaiting him. Inside the pack doctor was examining Karina’s injuries and other important vitals.
"How is Zenna? This must be shocking for her. All these years she thought her mother was absent from her life," Savio said, looking at Radulf’s troubled face.
"Phillipe played a cruel game with both Zenna and her mother. I’m out of words, Savio. I inflicted so much pain on Zenna after returning from the war. What kind of torture she endured in the hands of such a cruel father, I never tried finding out. I used to think only I suffered hell in Phillipe’s hands, but I was wrong. If there was someone who suffered more than me, then it’s Zenna and her mother."
Radulf brought his hand to his head. "If tomorrow he tried to lie, I may kill him right there, Savio."
"I can understand your emotions. Phillipe locked a woman for more than twenty years, I suppose, in a dungeon! That’s gruesome and heartless in my eyes. But it’s good that the Crown Prince had such a useful information regarding Zenna’s mother. You can use it against the King tomorrow in the council," Savio suggested to him.
"Yes, I’ve made plans on that," Radulf stated. "However, for that Zenna’s mother need to wake up first. She’s too fragile and weak. Even her bones were visible. Phillipe must be starving her for days. Just thinking about his inhuman treatment on a woman makes me sick," he muttered.
"I hope everything goes in your and Zenna’s favor tomorrow. You should go inside. Zenna needs you in this tough time. I’ll stay awake tonight to make sure nothing goes wrong. Phillipe has already gone insane and we need to stay on high alert the entire night," Savio stated.
"Hmm. Thank you, Savio. It means a lot," Radulf said and walked to the door before pushing it lightly. He saw Zenna on the bed, seated next to her mother while Josiah with his assistant was preparing a tonic for Karina to remove toxins from her body.
Josiah gestured his assistant to continue and he moved closer to Radulf. Whispering in his ear, he told the condition of Karina to him.
"Just use them. We need to save her," Radulf ordered.
Josiah nodded his head and used the rarest of the herbs that they had kept for the emergency.
"Zenna, can you come outside for a moment with me?" Radulf requested and she lifted her gaze to meet his. Giving a silent nod, she moved out of the bed and walked to him.
Radulf took her outside the room and stopped near the window. "Your mother will be fine," he began.
"Yes," Zenna replied. She didn’t have much to say, so she simply rested her head against Radulf’s chest and shut her eyes. "It hurts, Radulf. Seeing my mother like this, I want to kill him," she admitted.
"You aren’t supposed to dirty your hands. You can leave this task on me," Radulf said, his arm wrapped around her, giving her much needed comfort. "Your mother’s body have some toxins which developed because of constant injection of wolfsbane in her body. It may take a lot of time for her to recuperate. We will use the best medicines on her, so don’t worry much. And I want you to rest tonight. Because tomorrow is an important day for you, for us."
"I understand," Zenna said. "I’ll be with my mother. I want to be by her side because when she wakes up, I want her to see me first," she asserted.
"Sure. Stay with your mother. Once the treatment finishes, the doctors will leave. But make sure to take some rest. You can’t affect your health. It will upset your mother," Radulf opined.
"Hmm. You should go and sleep," Zenna told him.
"Not now," Radulf said. He didn’t tell her he couldn’t sleep tonight as it would only worry her. "After Josiah gives me report on your mother’s health, I’ll leave," he stated. "I forgot to ask you but how you felt seeing your mother." Radulf’s gaze softened as his hand cradled her neck.
"A feeling I never got before. That she was always alive. It gave me the type of joy which you get only after finding out you’ve a mother," Zenna explained. "At the same time, my heart crushed seeing her chained in silver shackles," she admitted.
"Hmm. One’s heart always sinks to see one’s mother in trouble," he said.
"Yes."
"Let’s go in," Radulf told her and the two went back into the room once again.

After Josiah’s treatment concluded, Radulf bid Zenna good night and took his leave. On his way out, he sent a message to Selina, hoping she would agree to come forward the next day and provide a statement revealing how Phillipe lied about everything.
Instead of heading to his room, Radulf made his way outside to check on Savio, who was stationed at the mansion gate that night.
Savio, sensing his presence, turned toward him. "Why are you here?" he asked, his tone edged with surprise.
"You really think I’d let you and my gamma guard the place all night alone?" Radulf replied, stopping in front of him. "As the Alpha, it’s my duty to stay vigilant, especially when my pack is under threat."
Savio offered a faint smile and asked, "How’s Zenna’s mother? What did Josiah say?"
"The toxins will take a few more days to completely leave her system," Radulf replied. "There’s no telling when she’ll wake up. As for Zenna... she’s with her mother now. She said she would sleep her mother tonight."
"I hope we get justice tomorrow," Victor, the gamma, pronounced.
"We will," Radulf stated in a confident tone.

The next morning, Karina’s eyelids flickered before slowly lifting them open. A soft, unfamiliar warmth cradled her body, and as her vision adjusted to the gentle light, she took in her surroundings with a hazy sense of confusion.
"Where... am I?" she whispered, laced with both wonder and disorientation.
Turning her head, her gaze landed on a woman lying beside her. Karina’s breath hitched, and her heart began to race. There was something deeply familiar, something unexplainably comforting about the young woman’s presence.
Tears welled in her eyes as realization slowly dawned at her. It was her daughter who was all grown up. It was the same unshakable warmth she had felt years ago after giving her birth, and the moment she held baby Zenna in her arms for the very first time.
’Am I dreaming?’ Karina wondered, her gaze fixed on the young woman beside her. ’If this is how my daughter looks now, then I never want to wake up from this dream.’
With a trembling hand, she reached out and gently brushed her fingers through Zenna’s hair. Her touch was light like she was afraid the moment might vanish if she moved too quickly.
"Zenna..." she whispered.
Zenna stirred at the soft touch, her lashes fluttering open. As her vision focused, she found herself staring into a pair of warm, hazel eyes, which she had missed more than words could ever express.
Her breath caught. "Mother?" she gasped, bolting upright in disbelief. Without wasting another second, she turned toward the doorway. "Pia! Mother is awake!" she shouted urgently. "Go and get the pack’s doctor!"
Pia swiftly acted and left while Zenna held her mother’s hand. Only then, Karina realized that it was all real. But how? How did she arrive here?
"Mother, do you want to drink water?" Zenna asked.
"No. You’ve grown up so much, Zenna," Karina said with tears brimming in her eyes. She tried sitting up but her minimal strength made it difficult for her.
"Indeed, I have grown up. I am twenty two years old. And please stay in bed, Mother. You need to rest," Zenna said, holding her tears back.
"I want to hug you," Karina said softly, her voice laced with longing.
Without hesitation, Zenna moved to help her mother sit up. She carefully adjusted two pillows behind Karina’s back, supporting her fragile frame.
Once Karina was upright, her hand rose to Zenna’s face, tracing her features with awe and tenderness as if trying to memorize every detail she had missed over the years. Then, with a trembling breath, she pulled Zenna into her arms.
"Twenty-two years have passed..." Karina murmured.
Zenna closed her eyes, melting into the embrace. The warmth that surrounded her was unlike anything she had known before. It was the kind of comfort people spoke of but she had never truly felt, until now.
"Zenna!" a voice called from the doorway.
She turned as Radulf stepped inside, but he froze mid-step upon seeing Karina awake.
Zenna gently pulled back from her mother’s arms and sat straight. She offered Radulf a soft, proud smile.
"This is my husband, Radulf," she said, introducing him. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Karina was shocked to learn that and realized she had missed a lot in all these years.
