The Alpha's Forsaken Feisty Mate-Chapter 30: Don’t bite me
Zenna looked at the documents related to the finances of their pack. In the last three months, the pack had grown its wealth using new activities, an effort Zenna had made for them by introducing such professions. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
"What are you doing in the office?" Radulf’s voice echoed in the large office room as he stepped in. "With my return, I have taken the charge here. You can rest," he suggested.
Zenna looked at him. "I know. But I want to keep a check on the finances," she replied.
Radulf was now right beside her and took the documents from her hands.
"Our pack has grown a significant wealth in the past two months. It’s not large, but I am sure with time more wealth will be generated. We can then invest this amount to build better schools and training institutes for our pack wolves," Zenna explained.
Radulf realized Zenna was far more intelligent than he had thought. How? Wasn’t she always living in the cold palace? Then, how did she learn all this?
With curiosity, he glanced at Zenna, who was busy looking into some other documents. "Where did you study? In the royal school of the kingdom?" he questioned.
"No. I never got to study," Zenna replied. "Where is that document?" she murmured to herself while fumbling through the papers.
Radulf sat on the edge of the desk and held her chin, making her look at him. "Let’s talk," he urged.
"I don’t want to," Zenna said with an indifferent tone. "I have work to finish which I didn’t touch for the past few days because of someone," she taunted him and yanked off his hand.
"I don’t understand you. You wanted me to bridge the gap between us. And now, you are bringing the excuse of the work," Radulf turned a little furious.
"I don’t want to do it anymore," Zenna replied.
"What if I divorce you, reject you? Will your father let you live?" Radulf asked, which made her flinch. She couldn’t come up with a response. "I am sorry for what I said to you last night. I hope you try to forgive me," he finally apologized.
Zenna gazed at him with bewilderment, not expecting he would ever apologize to her. Tears glistened in her eyes, and she quickly averted her gaze from him.
"Two years ago, I got badly injured during the war. I thought of you. I wondered if you would leave me the moment you received the news I was no more," Radulf whispered, telling about a memory he held.
Zenna stared at him in disbelief. "This pack gave me freedom and I could do whatever I desired. My marriage with you did bring good things for me. I never expected you to think so low of me," she murmured and lowered her eyes to his chest. "The scar on your chest, is that related to that time?" she queried and met his gaze again.
"Hmm." He held her hand and made her stand before him, between his legs. "What was your life in the palace, Zenna?" he asked. "Did everyone bully you there?" He wanted to ask how she met Gregor, but didn’t right away.
"It wasn’t like the others. I was bullied because my mother was an omega and a palace servant. I was seen as someone who maligned the royal lineage," Zenna explained. She didn’t know why she told him that when she had made a strong resolve of not speaking with him. Maybe his green eyes did a magic on her.
"I consider you a princess since you carry Philippe’s blood," Radulf stated, staring deep into her eyes.
Zenna didn’t blink for a moment. "You can’t name the Alpha King like that," she said and again blinked.
"Why? He’s not here, so I’ll not be punished," Radulf stated with an amusing smile.
"Even the walls have ears," Zenna replied.
"I don’t sense anyone around," Radulf remarked. He inhaled her scent and leaned closer. His body was reacting to it on its own, leaving him in a state of frenzy.
Zenna noticed that and almost took a step back. However, Radulf held her wrist firmly and planted a kiss on the hollow of her neck.
"I don’t want you to touch me," Zenna pronounced.
Radulf tilted his head to look at her and smiled. "Can’t you get even the slightest of my scent?" he asked with curiosity.
Zenna shook her head. "I am wolf-less," she reminded him.
"Hmm. That’s sad. Only I get crazy smelling your pheromones but the same doesn’t happen to you. I wish you could sense how deeply you affect me with your scent," Radulf asserted. His wolf was taking over once again and he continued, "I may not remember our first time together but I am sure it was nice."
Zenna’s cheeks turned into a rosy hue. "What are you even speaking about?" She tried to free her wrist from his grip. Radulf enjoyed the way she struggled.
When she could not free herself, she quickly bit his earlobe. His eyes darkened as they met hers, which defiantly looked at him.
"You shou-should have– Ahh!" She screamed when Radulf promptly turned them. She was now on the desk while he was standing. His knee separated her legs. His eyes lingered on her lips. Cradling her neck, he kissed her while she pressed her hands to push him away.
However, she couldn’t protest for long and gave up. Though she didn’t respond to his kiss. She didn’t want to. Radulf pulled away and peered into her eyes. "Don’t bite me like that next time and learn to kiss back your mate," he said, his wolf almost growling, not at her, but him for again scaring Zenna.
"I don’t want to kiss you. Move away. My head is hurting, so I would like to rest," Zenna said.
"Alpha, Luna, pardon me for the sudden interruption," Pia’s voice reached their ears. Zenna gestured to Radulf to move, but he didn’t.
"What is it?" Radulf asked Pia.
"Princess Aria is here to see the Luna," Pia informed them.
