The Alpha's Forsaken Feisty Mate-Chapter 71: To grow your family
"Greetings to Your Majesty," Radulf bowed respectfully before lifting his head to meet Phillipe’s gaze.
"What brings you here at this hour, Radulf?" Phillipe inquired, his tone calm yet carrying the weight of authority.
Radulf straightened with a grave expression. "Your Majesty, I have brought two servants who were appointed to my mansion when Zenna married me. A day ago, a group of rogues attacked my pack and destroyed the South Camp. Upon investigation, it was discovered that these two were involved," he explained, his sharp eyes studying every change of expression on the Alpha King’s face.
Through the mind link, Radulf commanded Savio to bring Kade and Vivian inside.
Phillipe’s fingers curled into tight fists, though his arms remained poised on the armrest of his throne. "What exactly are you implying, Radulf?"
"Your Majesty, please be patient for a moment," Radulf said.
Just then, the heavy doors of the hall creaked open, and Savio strode in, dragging Kade and Vivian behind him. Their hands were bound tightly with ropes and their faces were pale with fear.
With a sharp push, Savio forced Kade forward. Stumbling, Kade barely managed to steady himself before falling to his knees before the Alpha King. His breath came in ragged gasps as he lowered his head, trembling under the weight of Phillipe’s piercing gaze. Vivian, who stood frozen behind him, also dropped to her knees.
"Your Majesty, Vivian admitted in front of many pack servants, including me, my beta, and my gamma, that you gave the order to attack us," Radulf declared, keeping his eyes locked with the Alpha King.
Phillipe’s eyes darkened with fury as he shot to his feet. "How dare you brazenly accuse me, Radulf? Are you forgetting who I am?" His voice roared through the grand hall. His piercing gaze settled on Alfred. "Arrest him for making such a reckless accusation against me."
"Your Majesty, please hear me out first," Radulf quickly interjected. "I do not believe for a second that you would stoop so low. These two are falsely using your name to cover their own crimes. I have reason to believe they are the ones who hung the severed heads on the balcony of your chamber. After serving in the palace for years, they were assigned to my wife’s service upon our marriage, but instead, they betrayed their own Alpha King."
Phillipe’s expression hardened, but beneath his rage, a flicker of unease passed through his eyes. He had never intended to dispose of Kade and Vivian—they were his most trusted informants. Yet now, they had implicated him in an act that could jeopardize everything. Why? What could have possibly driven them to take such a risk?
Radulf took a step forward. "Why don’t you both open your mouths and confess before the Alpha King? Admit that you were the ones who killed that hunter and the two guards!" His deep, commanding voice sent a shudder through the two bound servants.
Alfred, now stepping in as the interrogator, narrowed his eyes at them. "Did you truly do this?"
Radulf turned to the commander. "They have served in the palace for years, Alfred. They know every secret passage, every route of this palace."
Alfred studied him for a moment before giving a firm nod. His attention then shifted back to Kade and Vivian with a menacing presence.
Phillipe’s patience snapped as he glared at them. "Why did you do it?" he snarled. "How dare you both accuse me of something?" His growl reverberated through the hall.
"Your Majesty, we did it because of the way we were treated by the chief servants. The Alpha King never once intervened to stop the punishments we endured, so we decided to take revenge by scaring you," Kade finally admitted, his voice laced with bitterness.
Radulf smirked slightly as a satisfaction gleamed in his eyes. He had successfully killed two birds with one stone.
"What?" Phillipe’s brows scrunched together in disbelief. "You two hung those heads!?" His sharp gaze flickered to Alfred. "Arrest them immediately! They will be punished for tarnishing my name and for the murders they committed," he commanded, his voice echoing throughout the hall.
Alfred swiftly complied, barking an order for the guards. Within moments, Kade and Vivian were seized and dragged away, their desperate protests falling on deaf ears as they were hauled off to the prison for further punishment.
As the tension in the room settled, Radulf stepped forward and began in his soft tone, "Your Majesty," carefully suppressing the lingering fury within him, "forgive me for causing you stress. I would have killed them myself for plotting against you, but I believed you should hear their confession first. Sometimes, the very people you feed turn against you." He paused for a brief moment. "You gave me a second life, Your Majesty. I will never betray you. I am not my father."
Phillipe studied him for a long moment, his anger slowly dissipating. He could see the truth in Radulf’s words.
"You have already proven your loyalty to me after winning the war at the Western Frontier," Phillipe acknowledged. His jaw tightened as he exhaled. "But I never imagined that the servants I appointed to serve Zenna would turn out to be a threat." 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
As that thought settled, another realization struck him—Zenna had never once mentioned Kade and Vivian to Radulf. A smirk played on his lips. ’Good,’ he mused. ’My useless daughter is finally learning to obey.’
"They both had ties to a rogue pack. I urge His Majesty to conduct a thorough interrogation," Radulf said, keeping his gaze steady on Phillipe. "We may uncover more about such threatening groups and eliminate them before they become a greater danger to us."
"You’re right," Phillipe acknowledged with a nod. "I will have Alfred look into it immediately."
Satisfied, Radulf turned to take his leave, but Phillipe’s voice halted him.
"How is your married life with Zenna?" the Alpha King inquired. "You two have been married for four years now. It’s time for you to think about having a child—to grow your family."
Radulf met his gaze with a composed expression, masking the disdain simmering beneath. "Yes, Your Majesty. Right now, we are still understanding each other. There are many voids we need to fill." His voice was humble and respectful.
But behind those words, he thought, ’I won’t let you succeed in your evil intentions, Phillipe.’
