The Alpha's Omega Mate-Chapter 159: Repaying evil with evil.
~Dahlia’s POV~
"Then I’d like to see you try!" Kai snapped sultrily.
One minute, he was standing aloof to my side and the next, he was right in front of me, throwing a fist in my direction and I’d been so lost and so stunned that it took me a moment to regain my composure.
But thankfully, I was fast.
I ducked swiftly, my heart picking up tempo as I rose to my feet and threw out my arms at him. My idea had been to strike him across the face when he was least expecting, but I was wrong.
He was a professional, and I, an amateur. Alpha Kai caught my arm like it was nothing but a pesky insect. He flashed a grin at me, momentarily stunning me, and in my moment of distraction, he twisted my arm behind me and pulled me flush against his bare chest in such a way that my entire back was now pressed against his front.
I gasped— not at the pain shooting through my arm but at the sudden contact— and girl, he was warmmm!
I gulped. "You don’t fight fair."
"I’ve told you before, your opponents will never fight fair."
His large calloused hands raked the exposed flesh of my stomach from where my blouse had ridden up a little and my breath hitched when those fingers began trailing up my skin— inside my blouse— on my bare flesh, and igniting my skin with a flame so wild and so hot, I was sure it would scorch us both.
"You were saying something earlier." He suddenly whispered into my ear, his breath fanning the side of my face and his lips lightly brushing against the shell of my ear.
That contact... that playful touch... sent so many tingling sensations running down my spine, and it was so intense, so terribly nerve wracking that my toes curled in delight and my core clenched in something way beyond delight.
My eyes bulged. "What?"
Smiling against my ear, he drawled; "You said you wanted to talk. It’s why we’re sparring, isn’t it?"
But truth be told, I couldn’t remember what I was meant to talk to him about.
Right now, I wasn’t even sure I knew what my name was anymore.
His deep voice and soft touches had somehow managed to wipe my memories clean, and right now, I couldn’t remember what I was supposed to say.
Hell, I couldn’t even bring myself to speak.
Suddenly, Alpha Kai stepped away from me, taking his sweet warmth alongside him. He let go of my hands and before I could recover from what he’d just put me through seconds ago, he threw a punch to my midriff, causing me to gasp as he’d knocked the air out of me.
My eyes widened. My nostrils flared. "You tricked me!" I bellowed but he only smiled cheekily.
"I didn’t."
"Oh, come on, you di—" the words hadn’t fully left my lips when he threw another punch at me but this time, I was fast, I ducked quickly, jutted out my left leg and whistled when he stumbled against it, falling to the floor like a sack of potatoes.
He groaned. "Now, you’re getting tricky!" He snarled playfully. "You’re becoming like my sister!"
My sister.
My sister.
His sister.
Damn! She was who I wanted to talk to him about. She was the reason I was here in the first place, sparring with him, not the hormones in my system that had suddenly gone haywire.
I clucked my tongue at him but made no move to help him up, and my grin only widened when I watched him struggle to his feet, his face contorting into a mixture of pain and pride.
"I underestimated you." He smiled.
"Yeah, I know." I sassed back, my smile growing. "And that’s how you’ll lose to me."
"In your dreams."
Maybe the wet ones... potato, potahto.
Whatever.
A few times, I’d watched some warriors train back in Shadowfang pack, and one time, I’d seen one, Geoffrey, do a move that had awed me so much, it stuck to my mind— it was one I’d always wanted to do; And with a stubborn set of my chin, I took a few steps back, spun around whilst lifting my legs off the floor—
Or wait, is this how it’s done?
Wasn’t I supposed to throw one leg into the air and kick his face with it?
Yeah, that. Exactly.
I threw my right leg into the air and goddamn it! It was high. So high it reached his height. I then flung it at him, expecting to smack his face with it.
And do you know what?
I failed.
Woefully.
He caught my legs like it weighed as much as a cotton candy, and because of the speed I’d used in going at him, I couldn’t stop myself. I couldn’t even do anything but scream as I crashed to the floor with only the sound of his laughter acting as a soundtrack for my downfall.
"Urghhh!"
"If that was what I think it was, then trust me Dahlia sweetheart, you certainly do have two left legs."
I flushed. "Don’t talk to me."
"But you wanted to talk to me." He argued, frowning as he planted both of his hands on his hips and glared straight at me.
I gulped. Now is the time. It’s either now or later— no I mean, never. Now or never.
"I want to talk about Elodie! You cannot be mad at her for wanting to see her daughter! I’d also want to see Amara too if I’d just woken up from a two-year long coma!"
As soon as the words slipped out, his eyes darkened. A frown creased his perfect face and I almost hated myself for running the smile that was there only seconds ago.
"Except that she didn’t just go to see ’Tiffany’, she also went for Orion!" He bellowed, turning around to walk away from me.
Now, I hated that he was walking away. I hated that his fancy red eyes were no longer watching me with that keen interest that made my insides crumble... that he was no longer looking at me like he wanted to devour me. To ruin me.
Oh girl... When’s my next heat cycle?
I guess it’s close... pretty close for me to be this wanton.
Blame my stupid hormones but the thought of him turning his back to me didn’t sit right with me. It pushed me into rising to my feet and trudging after him like a wild animal. I yelled; "Wait!"
But Alpha Kai didn’t wait. He didn’t even stop walking.
My anger got the best of me as soon I found myself running to catch up with him, and when I finally passed him by a few feet, I stopped, turned around to face him and planted my hands on my hips as I waited for him to walk over.
I spat; "I was talking to you."
"And we’re done talking."
"Really?" I spat, my eyes darkening with rage and lust. "You no longer want to talk to me?" I asked and he nodded.
"No."
"Even now?" I muttered, swiftly taking off my blouse, and I saw his eyes darken when they landed on my almost fully naked upper body—save for my bralette.
"Dahlia." He growled, but I only smirked. And when I was sure that he wasn’t seeing anything else besides my exposed cleavage, I punched him hard in the guts, smirking when he doubled over with a groan.
He snapped; "What was that for?"
"That was me repaying evil with evil." I sassed, and with that I ran off, chuckling into the wind as he pursued me.
