The Alpha's Villainess Wife-Chapter 19: Eve…?
The unknown numbers belonged to Patro. He’d sent photos of what he’d done to Eve’s father.
Malakai rose from the love seat and approached her. He picked up the phone, looked at the content and slowly met her eyes that were flickering rapidly.
Eve’s mind raced with panic. She was unmoving, as still as a statue, body shivering rapidly.
"Eve." Malakai kept the phone aside. Patro had the man tortured, he didn’t look anything recognizable. He’d sent her a photo of them with a threat to take a finger and put him in even worse condition than he already was.
"Eve, look at me." He grabbed her by the shoulder and turned her around. Her eyes, hazel and tearful behind her glasses gazed up at him.
"Malakai..."
"I know. I know," he said to her. "But I need you to calm down, okay?"
"You don’t understand."
Eve shook her head at him. "I know Patro, a-and this is what he’s going to do to me everytime I stand up against him. He’s going to hurt my father, a-a-and I don’t know what to do anymore."
Her breathing was erratic as if she was near hyperventilating.
"Eve—"
"We have to do something?" she said to him. "Malakai, we have to do something. Patro is a monster, and he’s going to kill my father. Please."
Malakai nodded his head at her. "Eve, I understand, but you need to calm down—"
"No, no, you don’t understand." She slapped his hands off her. "You don’t understand how crazy Patro is. He doesn’t stop at anything. He’s angry for what I did, he’s angry that you got TUD on our side and this is a warning from him. I-If I do anymore than I’ve already done, he’ll kill my father."
The words spilled out of her like water from a broken dam.
"Eve." He grasped her arm. "You need to calm down."
She stared at him, shoulders rising and falling in heavy breathing, but then a look of pain slowly emerged on her face and she hunched, grunting.
Malakai was confused. "Eve?"
"I’m okay." Eve breathed out. "I-I’m fine—" A sharp pain stabbed through her lower abdomen and she gasped, clutching her stomach.
"Eve, what’s going on with you? Do you—"
"No, no, it’s okay, I’ll be okay in a little—"
Another wave of pain crashed over her, sending her gasping into his chest. Her fingers dug into his shirt and she groaned in pain. "Malakai, I think...I think I need to go to the hospital."
Shit!
He was starting to get the idea of the problem at hand and he was quick to walk her over to the bed to sit down.
"Let me call someone for you, wait—"
Eve grasped his hand. "Please, don’t leave me alone. I’m scared..." she pleaded with wet eyes. "Take me. Stay with me, please."
Malakai paused, The man peered at her and slowly reached up his hand to rub his chest that was oddly aching in a way he couldn’t comprehend.
Still, he nodded at her.
"Just a second." He was quick with putting a sweat shirt on and grabbed his key, then his jacket that was tossed aside on the sofa. He threw it over her, and lifted her into his arms in a bridal style before heading out of the mansion.
They were off into the road shortly after, only to end in traffic. Eve glanced at Malaki with a panicked expression. The pain wasn’t stopping, if anything it got worse with every passing second and she’d been enduring it because they were getting closer to the hospital.
Unfastening his seatbelt, Malakai got out of the car and moved over to her side. He broke her seat belt and lifted her out of the car into his arms.
"How bad is the pain?" he asked.
"I feel like I’m going to die. Malakai, I think i’m going to lose—"
"Shhh, don’t say that, doll. Don’t go there. Just relax, alright? Breathe for me."
Eve inhaled and exhaled and wrapped her arms around his shoulders, holding tightly onto him.
"I can get you there with my speed, but can you take it?"
She frantically nodded her head at him.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. Please. It hurts!"
"Then hold on tight." The city blurred around him as he left, devouring the distance between his abandoned car and the hospital.
He had his jacket around her, keeping her covered from the cold air, thick with the scent of rain. Eve shivered in his arms, her hands curling tighter to hold onto him despite the excrutiting pain she was in. Her breaths were coming in short, pained gasps.
Malakai never stopped once. He tightened his grip on her and held her against his chest. His muscles coiled and released with each sprint he took, over cars in fluid inhumane steps.
The pedestrians moving by the sides were confused, so were those inside their car, because all they could glimpse was a blur of face, faster than even their eyes could follow, despite them not being humans.
One turn, another, the wind blew past his ears and he never stopped, not even when he glimpsed the light of the closest hospital, bright like salvation. He got to the entrance, shoes skidding against the pavement and past the glass door of the hospital.
His breaths came in frantic puffs, he was a sweaty mess and even his banded hair had come undone, falling to his shoulders.
The omega nurses were startled, and the doctor, a beta, turned, meeting his eyes.
"Mr. Basti?"
"My wife," Malakai breathed heavily, voice low, and breathless. "Help, she needs help."
The doctor quickly turned to the omegas and they nodded without even hearing him speak, hurrying off to get the hospital trolley bed.
The doctor made his way over to Malakai. "What is going on? What happened?"
"She’s with a pup, and she just started having these pains and..." Malakai babbled his response as he lowered his gaze to Eve in his arms, only to find that she’d gone unconscious. He wasn’t sure if she was still breathing, but...her body was...limp.
"Eve...?"
