If he had less than seven hours to complete the daily quest, he needed to be about it from that moment. Especially since he wasn’t feeling sleepy. He remembered when he started the quest as a newer, then, he found it difficult to do Push-Ups. But now, he could even do fifty on a spot.

So, the quest was not really his concern.

His concern rose when it dawned on him that it was today. The day for his solo raid. For a reason he knew not, he didn’t want to think about skipping the raid and forfeiting it. So, he was going to keep on with it.

"First things first."

Buji said and landed on the cold floor of his room, supporting the upper part of his body with his hands, and the lower part with his toes tipped on the floor. And then he began the push-up.

Moments laters, he was rounding up the push-up.

"Forty-six, forty-seven..."

His breath came in ragged gasps as he counted the last number of the push-up. His arms too burned with his effort to push through the final set of the push-ups.

"Forty-nine... Fifty."

The exhilaration of completing this part of the quest quickly enough fueled him. He knew that his progress wasn’t physical anymore if he was to say. It was more of... He didn’t know the term to use but he was really making a great progress and he felt the change accumulating his body shape.

’Body shape?’

He’s not too sure. Then at the hospital, the nurse had blushed on seeing his bare body. But then, right in front of him was still a lean guy who always appeared on baggy clothings. The clothes weren’t necessarily made to be baggy, his body made it seem like.

Maybe the quest exercises were actually having effect but can clearly be seen when Buji is on bare body.

With a grin, he leapt to his feet with his muscle taut and ready for the next challenge. Not challenge though but for the next activity.

"Alright," he muttered, brushing off the sweat on his brow. "Next on the list."

Squats.

He didn’t exactly know how to go about it, but he hoped his guess will be right.

He lowered his body to dwarf level, allowing only his toes to support him. With his knees, prostrated forward.

In this current position, he started to leap like a frog🐸. Closing different short distances, to and fro, to and fro, and like that he continued.

He felt like this current activity was way harder than push-ups. Or was it because he hadn’t involved in this type before?

He continued to leap, forward and backward, to and fro, up and down, and at intervals, will give out to the floor heaving with heavy breaths.

Feeling he had rested a bit, he took the position and continued.

"Thirty-nine, forty... forty-six."

His legs gave out again and he spent much longer time trying to regain strength to complete the squats or whatever what he was doing was called.

He just hoped he was right so that the energy expended at the exercise won’t be a waste.

"Forty-nine... Fifty," Buji muttered and landed his buttocks on the floor.

"Ghuuu, ghuuuuu..." He breathed heavily from the mouth.

To him, the daily quest was more of a ritual than an obligation. Thinking that he has to complete it wasn’t enough, but that after the completion, he gains something in return.

So, so, not only the daily quest. Any quest he was made to face by the system was more of rituals because that’s how ritual worked. No matter the aspect it’s viewed from, one most surely perform something—maybe an obligation, to get something in return.

The screen appeared with its notification.

<Daily Quest Ongoing!>

[Push-Ups: 50/50

Squats: 50/50

Jogging: 0/50km

Additional Exercises: 0/2 Completed]

At the notification, Buji turned his gaze to the window 🪟 and knew he was going to be regarded a mad man if he should walk out into the brim darkness all in the name of jogging. So, he decided to complete the additional two exercises first.

But first, ’Where is that can of water?’ His eyes turned in all corners on his dimly lit room until it fell on the can of water which lay beside his bed. He crawled to where it was and picked it up.

He stood up and guzzled down the bottle of water, after which he stretched his body.

"I’m starting with the Pumping exercise," he declared and flinged the can of water flying to the top of his bed.

He positioned himself in his standing position, placed his two hands on top of his head and began the pumping.

"Down... Up. Down... Up," he said each time and demonstrated it with his body movements.

He continued until he was done with it.

The only activity left for Buji to complete the daily quest now was the jog. It was dawn, at least dawn enough to ascertain a living soul outside the building. He was not going for the jog in his current state, he needed to freshen up first.

He made his way to the bathroom and after few minutes in there, he came out with his body towels, drying out the drops of water 🌊 on his body.

He put his clothes on and donned his running shoes. The last and the most grueling activity of all was to run 50 kilometers. Initially it had been 10km, and when it increased to 20km, he cursed the system. Now, it was 50km.

And the thing is, he must finish it before time runs out.

He glanced for the final time at his phone. It was 04:30 AM. So, he needed to be done before 7:00AM.

Stepping outside the dorm’s building, everywhere was quiet only illuminated by the faint glow of the early morning moon. He could hear the snoring of students who slept inside the building. Maybe not hear, but at least he could feel they were still snoring.

Buji stretched, shaking out the stiffness in his legs, and began jogging. He made his way through the corridors that led to the open space, then down the field.

The school field had an environment that measured 7km on a circular distance. It was large enough and so, housed varieties of leisure activities that took place in the school.

Buji continued jogging. He needed to run round the field seven times beforebhe completed the objective. His pace was steady and measured. He wanted to maintain that way so as not to get tired easily. Each step he took thudded softly against the asphalt floor of the field track, blending with the rhythm of his breathing.

Buji continued jogging as meters ticked away turning into kilometers and with consistency, kilometers ticked away too. Surprisingly, he was getting less tired, not like he has expected initially.

As he ran on the track, his mind wandered to the solo raid awaiting him in few hours. The system had compared the raid of the Dormant Dungeon to a D-Rank dungeon, but even Buji himself knew that taking on a Dormant Dungeon alone wasn’t going to take the easy turn for him.

This was no ordinary dungeon like that of the hunters where fellow hunters can be reached out to for help. The thought sent a ripple of excitement mixed with fear, coursing through him.

Dormant dungeons though ranked at the lowest were rare, hidden from Players until unlocked by specific quests or items. And now, he was on the cusp of unlocking one.

Now he thought about it, that was the reason the system had obliged he completed the daily quest first. Only that way, he can be able to unlock the dungeon.

The challenge was daunting, but that only made it more thrilling. After all, he had come a long way to back down.

Back then, during his early days, he would have washed the thought off his memory with enough water and soap, but here he is, taking on the challenge.

His father always commented on such actions as bravery and always went ahead to add that the individual was getting strengthened and maturing faster.

So, this was applied to him. He grinned at the thought.

The confidence that the raid will be a success suddenly creeped in.

"At least, I have to make sure not to die 99 times," he murmured, feeling accomplished.

Buji had been so drowned in his thought that he didn’t realize he had improved with the kilometers on the jog. He was now at the junction that marked the 49th kilometer.

He paused to catch his breath, his chest moving heaving as he looked around bent with his hands placed in his knees. He had come this far, unknowingly to him. He needed on more kilometer to complete the quest.

He looked at his wrist watch and saw that he had one more hour before the seven hours elapsed. With much endurance, he took to his heels and continued jogging 👟.

At the far circular end was a sign board that indicated that the distance from where Buji had continued would make it a kilometer. Clearly written on the board was 1km and that was how it was written and used to indicate distances of the field at strategic points.

Once Buji reached the sign board, he stopped and staggered forward with ragged gasps for breath. Off to the side was a wooden bench, weathered but sturdy.

Buji made his way over and collapsed onto it, allowing his aching legs a moment’s reprieve.

He opened his shut eyes later to find the system’s screen hovering in front him in the air.

<Daily Quest Completed!>

[Push-Ups: 50/50

Buji sighed in relief, but he still kept his gaze affront as another screen appeared.

[Spin Wheel 🎡 Unlocked.]

[Spin the wheel to unlock Acquisition Item.]

Buji only still gazed at the screen not knowing exactly what to do. He saw the click which he was going to use for the spinning command, but the items. The boxes on the wheel were blank.
