The Archduke's Songbird-Chapter 229: Overflowing Joy
Jessamyn’s heart pounded in her chest as she gently placed the shirt back in the drawer, her hands trembling with a mix of excitement and nervousness. She wiped her tears away, trying to compose herself.
The soft thudding grew louder, and she could hear the faint creak of the wooden floor. Each step he took echoed in her heart, amplifying the emotions swirling inside her.
Jessamyn stood up, smoothing her dress and taking a deep breath. She walked to the doorway, her steps light and hesitant.
She did wonder if he wouldn’t be pleased she barged into his private sanctuary.
As she reached the top of the stairs, she saw him at the bottom, looking up at her with eyes that mirrored her own feelings. The sight of him, after all this time, filled her with a sense of completeness she hadn’t felt in years.
His eyes softened as he saw her, and a slow, heartfelt smile spread across his face. "Jessamyn," he whispered, his voice filled with a mix of relief and longing.
She couldn’t hold back any longer. She rushed down the stairs, her heart leading her to him. As she reached the bottom, she threw herself into his arms, holding him tightly.
The warmth of his embrace, the familiar scent of him, enveloped her, grounding her in the reality of the moment.
"I found your letters," she whispered, her voice choked with emotion.
He pulled back slightly, just enough to look into her eyes. "And?"
"I read every word," she said, her voice steady despite the tears streaming down her face. "You never stopped loving me."
He brushed a tear from her cheek, his touch gentle and reverent. "I didn’t, Jessamyn. I didn’t."
Jessamyn clung to his neck, her tears flowing without any restraint once again. "I love you, Jerrick," she said. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
"I love you, Jessamyn," he said, patting her back. "I didn’t even realize that I was always in love with you. I am such a fool..."
Jessamyn nuzzled into his neck. "You kept everything I gave you... You didn’t lose a single thing... I saw the shirt. The painting too... You remembered everything. You never stopped loving me..."
"I did save everything. How can I throw away anything? I do remember everything. Those happy days are all etched in my heart and even my bones would remember in centuries to come. I love you that much, Jessamyn, my Songbird," he kissed her cheek.
Jessamyn looked at him and smiled. "You built this cottage for me..."
"Didn’t you want one?" he smiled.
She kissed him deeply, pouring all the love and longing she had felt into that kiss. He responded with equal fervor, his hands roaming over her back, pulling her closer.
The intensity of their connection ignited a fire between them; she wrapped her legs around his waist and they moved as one towards the bedroom.
As they entered the room, the scent of jasmine filled the air, mingling with the warmth of their bodies. Jerrick gently laid her down on the bed, his eyes never leaving hers. He kissed her again, softer this time, taking his time to savor every moment.
His lips traveled down her neck, leaving a trail of warmth in their wake. She gasped as his hands explored her body, reacquainting themselves with every curve and contour.
Their clothes were discarded with a sense of urgency, each piece falling to the floor as they lost themselves in each other. Jerrick’s touch was both tender and passionate, his fingers and tongue tracing patterns on her skin that made her shiver with anticipation.
She responded to his every touch, arching into him, her hands tangled in his hair.
When he finally entered her, it felt like coming home. They moved together in perfect harmony, their bodies fitting together as if they were made for each other. Every thrust, every caress, was filled with love and longing, a physical manifestation of the bond they shared.
They whispered each other’s names, and confessed their love again and again, their voices trembling with emotion.
As their passion reached its peak, Jerrick buried his face in her neck, his breaths coming in ragged gasps. "Mynah...My Songbird..." he hissed in her ears, sending warm pulses in her lower abdomen.
Jessamyn held him close, her own breaths mingling with his. The world around them faded away, leaving only the two of them in a cocoon of love and warmth.
When he finished himself inside her, Jessamyn felt a sudden warmth in her lower abdomen, a flutter, and saw a soft twinkle gleaming there that seemed to resonate with the love they had just shared.
Deep in her heart, she knew this was the moment she had been waiting for. Their son came to be.
Joy overflowed in her heart and she gently placed her hand on her lower abdomen. Grow well, my son!
She ran her fingers through Jerrick’s wet hair as he gathered his breath. Suddenly, he paused and stared at her abdomen, his eyes wide with shock.
Jessamyn could see that he had not planned on making her pregnant today. He might have been caught up in the moment to let that happen.
"You’re regretting it?" she asked, her voice tinged with vulnerability.
Jerrick let out a deep breath and looked into her eyes. "Of course not," he said and kissed her lips softly. "Our son..." he whispered, a smile blooming on his face as he placed his hand over hers.
"My gift to you," she muttered, her voice full of promise. "Although it’s your work, I promise to nurture him well... Maybe I should say this after I hand him to you."
She truly wanted to safely hand him over to his father, to see Jerrick holding their son with pride and love.
Jerrick sensed the hesitation in her tone and hugged her tightly. "You’ll be safe, Mynah... You surely will hold our son in your hands."
Tears welled up in Jessamyn’s eyes again, but this time they were tears of hope and happiness. She felt a renewed sense of purpose and strength, knowing that she and Jerrick were in this together.
Jerrick rolled to his side and she lay on his arm, facing him. Although he had traveled all the way here, he didn’t look tired even a bit. He looked refreshed and was glowing with an inner light.
"Where is this place?" she asked, looking out of the window at the breathtaking view.
The breeze was refreshing, but as far as the eyes could see, there was no sign of anyone else. It looked serene and otherworldly, a sanctuary away from the chaos of their lives.
