The Astral soul system-Chapter 120: Split up
[Notice: Author speaking,I wrote this Chapter immediately after waking up,in fact I’m not even sure i was awake ,so if it’s trash, please don’t treat it too harshly. I was literally on my back writing it]
Sable brought up the map again and looked at their destination.
"We’re almost there,but...why is it so isolated? This barely part of the city anymore. It’s one of the slums on the edges that lead out,at least that’s what this says"
She turned off the hologram, turning to Zaine.
"So what’s the plan? And I mean a real plan this time "
Zaine shrugged.
"I don’t do plans"
Sable sighed and didn’t reply.
"We should probably stop soon. This map belonged to them so they definitely know this route, and since they were meant to be transporting things,so they would probably have a team ready to accept them’
Zaine felt that made sense and they both agreed to branch off when they were close.
Gangs usually had some members dress normally and pretend to be normal to help them obtain information and do all sorts of shady business.
They eventually decided it would be safer to do things in a more roundabout way. Literally, they were going to go around the area the base was and take out any gangsters they could find trying to hide in plain sight.
A few minutes later they made it to the slums split up to make sure they weren’t followed.
Zaine looked around a bit suspiciously at the damaged and run down sector of town.
The problem with places like these were that he literally had no way of knowing who was a gangster,or at least that would be a problem if he was a normal person.

He continuously spammed the cost free skill, getting details of things about this . A few minutes passed until Zaine suddenly passed by a beggar after scanning them.
"One already? About time. This one is weaker than Bruno so i can finish this one quickly.
The second Zaine took his first step, he sighed. He had been surrounded.
It wasn’t like they were really strong or anything from what he could tell,it just felt a bit demeaning for him to have ignored the others behind him because he was looking around carelesly. Welp, better late than never.
Zaine looked at the beggar on the ground, catching him staring at him. The beggar’s expression immediately became docile and he asked.
"Can you spare a credit or too?"
Zaine shrugged.
"Sure. Is that just for you,or your will your friends behind me join us too?"
The beggar snarled upon hearing that and got up from his spot, looking at Zaine like he was a piece of meat.
"Why don’t you come with us for the time being" he said, trying to sound threatening.
"That’s an interesting way to ask for an executioner but okay"

Sable looked around warily, trying to make sure she didn’t miss anything, though, she was probably overthinking. Ever since the incident with the moon she felt different. Lighter, stronger... better. Not to mention her senses. She had to be careful, with literally every breath she was taking, she felt like she was tasting the air,a sensation that might have been more enjoyable if it wasn’t for her location. The sounds of crickets and bugs under the night sky filled her ears with precise locations even when she wasn’t exactly looking. Her eyes felt clearer and brighter than they had ever been,it felt like swapping out a camera with 60 FPS as it’s limit and replacing it with 240 FPS,it just couldn’t compare.
While walking she suddenly heard a faint voice.
"Help"
"Hmm?"
Sable immediately found out where the voice was coming from and she immediately went to see what was going on.
She turned a corner and saw someone on the ground, bleeding profusely as gang members towered above him.
"Hey, leave him a....."
Sable suddenly stopped, her eyes scanning over the red substance on the person’s body, her new body telling her something without a doubt.
’That isn’t blood ’
Her ears immediately twitched as the sound of poorly concealed footsteps were heard behind her.
She looked at the gangsters who were still beating up the man on the floor and suddenly felt like the whole thing was childish. It wasn’t that she was arrogant but with her new senses, she could see through this trap completely,it was like a child trying to outsmart an adult.
She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath, focusing on her ears and nose.
’five of them, plus the four in front of me. Nine in total’
She was calm, maybe a bit too calm but she hadn’t noticed. Why were these people following her? Sure she was here to take them out but how did they know that?
She suddenly realized she still had her mask on. It had initially been to divert attention away from her, but she suddenly realized that it with the combination of torn and blood clothes with a katana in her hand probably had the opposite effect.
’alright let’s do this’ she thought, eager to see how she’d perform.
She suddenly heard a whooshing sound behind her and before she could even think, some strange instinct made her turn her katana and hold it with the blade pointing behind her.
She suddenly heard a squelching sound resembling meat getting cut as well as painful groans. Looking back she suddenly saw a gangster impaled completely on her blade.
’Super speed ability ’ She quickly figured it out as the body slid down off her blade.
"Ugh,i did it again" Sable complained. She had ended up stabbing instead of slashing with her katana, not at all thinking about the dead body. She had been trained on how to properly use it since childhood and although it was durable enough to deal with her mistakes it still bugged her, especially after Zaine pointed it out .
Sable suddenly stopped her rambling after realizing she had killed someone when she heard his heart stop. It had meant that little to her. Previously she had killed without remorse, but back then she was doing that with pure rage. Now... she was fighting more like Zen... like she was hollow, like the lives she took just didn’t matter, and weren’t worth her emotions or thought. Even her anger wasn’t present.
Sable suddenly realized that the blood moon may have done more than just made her stronger.
"The fuck!" One of the gangsters reacted, bringing her out of her thoughts.
"Get that bitch!"
Sable squeezed the hilt of her katana slightly and prepared for another fight, wondering if Zaine was going through something similar right about now, and if so, would he be okay without her.

Zaine looked back and counted
"Five of you, including you" he said to the first person, who was pretending to be a beggar turning back to face him.
"I’m guessing you’re the boss"
[ Gift: Level four barrier]
"Alright let’s get into it"
’Hey Theia. Any chance you can hook me up with that transformation thing again right now ’
"Sorry dude but there isn’t some skill for this stuff. You got to find out how to do it yourself"
"Bummer" Zaine said
"Guess I got to do this the old fashioned way" Zaine muttered, cracking his knuckles .
Zaine dashed forward with his fist aiming for the beggar when a glowing shield suddenly appeared in front of him, stopping the attack completely.
A few cracks appeared on the barrier but it was otherwise fine.
He immediately looked back and saw a huge boulder, probably the result of an earth ability or strength ability.
Before he could react it was sent flying through the air towards him, attempting to crush him between the boulder and the barrier 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
