The Best Actor Insists On Living With Me!-Chapter 1648 - 1638: Gift (Part 2)
Bo Yan said, "It’s not dry yet."
Xia Siyu didn’t care about this: "You gave it to me, so it’s mine, and I want to try it on. What if it doesn’t fit?"
It’s actually unlikely that it won’t fit, as these T-shirts are all the loose type. No matter how plump Xia Siyu is, she’s still an artist with no pressure to wear a small size.
Bo Yan had to take it off, and Xia Siyu carefully held it like a treasure and walked into the room, coming out shortly after and spinning around: "How does it look?"
Bo Yan nodded: "It looks good."
It really does look good, but it’s not the clothes; it’s the person. The clothes only appear refreshing and flowing against her work clothes from yesterday. But compared to Xia Siyu’s own outfits, it’s still a bit plain.
"Quick, take it off. It’s just been washed, and it’s really wet."
But Xia Siyu really liked it and quickly changed back: "Will this be dry by tonight?"
She wanted to wear it to strut around in front of Shang Feifei.
Bo Yan said, "I’ll try my best."
Actually, he’s planning to start a fire later, so it should get hotter here, and he can probably dry the clothes.
"But just in case the money isn’t enough..."
"Hey, what does it matter? At worst, we’ll just take a few more bus and metro rides." The clothes are already bought, no use overthinking it. Xia Siyu was rather calm, "This time we should have enough for the airport bus, right?"
Bo Yan nodded: "Yes, we can take a taxi to the airport bus stop and then buy bus tickets to go there, that way there’ll be enough money."
"That’s good. As long as the show crew doesn’t mess things up."
Xia Siyu can’t sit still. As soon as she’s awake, she wants to move around, "I want to play with fire."
When she stayed in Sicily, every household there had a stove for grilling, although it looked different from this one, it also burned wood. They liked grilling meat, steaks, sausages, and whatnot, so she’s been playing with fire since she was little.
"Do you know how?" Bo Yan was a bit skeptical.
"Don’t underestimate me." Xia Siyu wanted to find some newspaper or straw to light a fire, but couldn’t find any after searching for a while. So she went inside and took one of her posters, ready to light it as a fire starter.
Bo Yan quickly stopped her: "Who burns their own picture? Someone might think something’s wrong with you."
Xia Siyu turned to find a few posters from the show: "Let’s burn these."
The staff nearby were speechless; was this show just meant to be burnt as a sacrifice?
But no one tried to stop her, and she really did burn it. Say what you will, this thing was a top-notch fire starter, and Xia Siyu stuffed it in the stove, quickly lighting the charcoal too.
Grilling doesn’t need a big fire; a gentle, even heat is best. Once it was lit, Xia Siyu even took out a teapot to make tea. I’ve got to say, it really gave off a vibe of "green ants new brewed wine, red clay little stove." Sipping on steaming tea, feeling invigorated and relaxed, with appetite whetted. After a few bowls of strong tea, Xia Siyu felt hungry again.
Just then, Han Yifan called out: "We’re coming over to see you guys~ Is the barbecue ready?"
Bo Yan didn’t reply, but Xia Siyu sent a voice message: "Yeah, right, whatever you say."
"Okay then, it must be ready. We’ll be there soon."
Since Han Yifan and the others were coming, they couldn’t dry clothes and sheets outside. Xia Siyu went to collect the clothes: "Already dry?" No wonder, it’s summer. Only sunbaked for about an hour and with some charcoal help, the clothes were dry.
Bo Yan’s sheets were dry too, but he was reluctant for them to be dry so soon. But in front of the cameras, he didn’t say much and collected them too.
Just after bringing them in, he remembered something, shook his head with a smile: "My mattress! I forgot to wash and dry the mattress."
It rained last night, so it wasn’t just the sheets that got wet, the mattress was soaked too.
He acted as if nothing was wrong: "I forgot to wash my mattress."
"Hey, it’s no biggie. You can keep using the couch, and consider the clothes as a lodging fee." Xia Siyu responded understandingly.
Soon she changed clothes, while Bo Yan took out the marinated meat and vegetables, ready for when Han Yifan and the others entered and indeed saw that they had already got the charcoal fire going. Bo Yan instructed: "Come on, lend a hand and put this slab of blue stone on the stove."
Han Yifan said jokingly, "I’m here to eat, and I still have to work. Didn’t you say everything was ready?"
Still, he helped out obediently.
Once the blue stone was hot, sizzling heat rose from it, and Bo Yan poured a plate of meat on top.
"Wow, smells great." Actually, Han Yifan isn’t unfamiliar with this type of barbecue, but making it yourself feels completely different from buying it outside.
When the barbecue was ready, Han Yifan opened the beer he brought. He had brought half a dozen, opening one for everyone.
The meat was tender and well marinated, pulled perfectly from the grill, and sprinkled with chili powder in the dish, it tasted fantastic. Chilled beer complemented it, cooling off the summer heat and barbecue fire, with the alohol refreshing yet relaxing. Even the side dishes, like celery and onion, absorbed the meat’s rich taste, very sweet and savory.
Midway through eating, Bo Yan dug out a few sweet potatoes from under the stove. They were roasted till their skin split and oozed oil, scorching hot in hand. Cooled down a bit, peeled, and one bite released a burst of sweet juice.
Han Yifan gobbled them down with a compliment: "You’re really good at this. If you ever quit this job, you should open a shop, you’ll definitely get popular."
Bo Yan smiled, "Tastes good, doesn’t it? That’ll be seventy bucks, please pay in cash."
Han Yifan giggled, "Talking money hurts feelings."
"Talking feelings hurts money." Bo Yan smiled and extended his hand.
Han Yifan glanced at Xia Siyu: "Hey, that shirt looks pretty good, where’d you get it?"
Xia Siyu smirked slightly: "Got it here—seventy bucks."
"You two are something else; do I look like a freeloader?" He initially wanted to say seventy was too much, but seeing all the different meats, the price really couldn’t be argued with.
As the fire dwindled, Xia Siyu poked the charcoal a bit to let in some air, and quickly the flames roared back to life. Han Yifan noticed: "Pretty skilled."
Xia Siyu nodded: "I used to grill a lot when I was a kid."
Mentioning childhood, Shang Feifei, sitting nearby, perked up: "Was it with... Teacher Wen?"
Xia Siyu softly replied, "Mm."
Shang Feifei wanted to ask more, but given it was a show, it wasn’t the right place for personal questions, so she held back. However, their reminiscing triggered Han Yifan’s memories: "Bo Yan, remember that farewell dinner in senior year with red and white wine and beer, I was so close to passing out, and you helped me hold my liquor quite a bit." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Xia Siyu was surprised: "Bo Yan helped you drink? But he doesn’t drink!"
Oh no, now his secret of not drinking is out too!
