The Betrayed Heiress's Second Comeback-Chapter 60: Ch : A Good Offer
Jenna’s pov
Rose was quite angry at the moment and everyone paused. I knew this was the right moment to swoop down and grab all the attention.
Even the air felt tighter, like everyone was holding their breath and waiting to see who would make the next move.
"I am pleased by your interest in our label. Of course, we would love to have a talent like you working for us as well. You can contact our label after the show."
My offer made Rose’s eyes spark even more. If she could, she would burn me where I was currently sitting. Her fingers curled around the mic, knuckles whitening for a split second before she forced a smile.
The host noticed this and he quickly interfered to bring out another contestant inside. But now that the dam had been opened, there was no going back.
Everyone who came after paid attention to me and fought to get into my label. Rose and Karl hardly got any screen time when they tried to worm their way in.
Karl shot Rose a helpless glance every few seconds, clearly aware that things were slipping from their hands.
The host looked worried about what to do since my side was suddenly getting a lot of screen time. But in the end, that was how the show ended and Rose left with a huff.
She glared at me until she was out of the studio and everyone let out a sigh of relief once she was gone. The doors hadn’t even fully closed before staff sagged like collapsing dominos.
"Phew, we survived. For a second, I was sure we were going to die."
"I have never seen Miss Rose so angry. But it is a given. She practically had no attention on her."
"Do you think we are in trouble? What if she tries to make things more difficult for us in the future?"
These people were worried for a good reason and knowing Rose’s personality, she would try that shit. So before she could do that, I needed to interfere. It was hard to find such fearless people in the industry who went against a company like Harvour Industries like today.
"Jason, make sure to have these people on our payroll. Ask Damian if we can buy out this production."
The secretary looked surprised at my words before he nodded.
"I will do that."
With this, at least one problem was resolved....for now. Rose wouldn’t stay quiet, but at least I’d secured the battlefield before she could recover.
"Let’s head back home now."
We left the show and I immediately opened social media to check on my reputation and any news about the show.
Just as I had expected, the exchange between myself and Rose was already out and about. People were making fun of Rose for her comments and losing to me. But some people were sympathetic to her as well.
There was no point in flaming this situation even more, so I put my phone down. I took in the scenery outside before my eyes landed on ’him.’
The man in front of me could not be older than 23, but he had a face that made even me pause.
"Stop the car...right now. I need to check something."
I suddenly yelled, causing the driver to push his brakes and the car skidded into the side of the road. Somehow, it was parked perfectly...and I had a feeling that it was due to experience. The abrupt stop jerked Jason forward against his seatbelt, earning me a shocked look. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
"Miss, what is going on—"
Jason asked, but I had no time for him. I needed to find my golden ticket I had managed to spot by chance.
The guy with the most handsome face I had ever seen was getting away. And opportunities like this did NOT wait around.
"Jason, you see the guy dressed in red and black. Go and catch him for me. I need to have a word with him."
The secretary gave me a worried look but he did not question me any further. He quickly took off to catch the person I had pointed out to him.
Somehow, the man in red and black noticed that he was being followed and immediately let out a yelp before making a run for it.
He bolted like a startled deer, weaving through the sidewalk crowd with surprising agility.
That stranger was fast, but Jason was even faster and managed to catch up to the other somehow.
"L-Let me go. I do not know anything and I have not done anything either. Whatever you want from me...I cannot do."
The man cried as he tried to get away. Seeing him like this was a little concerning. Especially since I could tell just how scared he was about getting caught.
His hands trembled violently, like he expected to be beaten the moment he stopped talking.
"I-I will return the loan. Just give me some time. I promise. Just let me go for now."
The man sounded beyond terrified and his words told me that there was a story here. Jason was also silent, but he was not letting the man go until he was given the order to.
"Hey, it’s fine. We did not come after you because we wanted to ask you to pay us money. Jason, let him go now."
I told Jason and he let the man go. But at the same time, he positioned himself in a way that would make it impossible for the man to be able to make a run for it. Jason spread his stance slightly, ready to react if the man tried anything reckless.
"I...understand. But if you are not here to get the debt money from me, then why are you here? What do you want from me?"
The man asked, looking at me and Jason with narrowed eyes. His guard was up and I saw no point in lying to him.
"Actually, we are here for your face. We are a newly established label for actors and I want you to become a face for our company. In return, we will take care of your debt and even make sure you have security."
I offered and the man’s eyes narrowed.
"What is this...some kind of pyramid scheme by you people? Do you truly think I will fall for it just because you told me? This is how all pyramid schemes start..."
The man told us, now even more suspicious of us and our intentions.
