The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 454 - 455: Torturing Sixth Master
"Mom, if I grow up looking like Ava, will you be worried that I won’t be able to get married?"
Thinking about Ava’s chubby face and body, and how her eyes would narrow to tiny slits when she smiled, Curly’s own face contorted in dismay. She didn’t want to get that fat.
Sienna Johnson stuffed more cake into her mouth and said with a smile, "No need to worry. Your dad has money, and if all else fails, we can increase your dowry. I’ll even add a portion of mine. With such a great reward, there will surely be brave men! Someone will definitely be willing to marry you, my little chubby girl."
"Would you be comfortable marrying me off to a man who wants me only for my money?" Curly asked.
"Well, it’s better than not getting married at all." Curly fell silent.
"Why do you always pick on Curly?" Adrian Desmond couldn’t stand it anymore.
Sienna Johnson stuffed a large bite of cake into Adrian’s mouth and asked coldly, "Oh? And which eye of yours saw me bullying her?"
"Did the two of us offend you in some way?" After being fed half a piece of cake, Adrian’s stomach felt very uncomfortable. He thought he must have done something wrong to upset Sienna. She knowingly fed him something he didn’t like, just to mess with him.
"Dad, pregnant women can be a bit temperamental, so please forgive her!" Curly said magnanimously. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
"You cheeky brat! How dare you indirectly insult me? Believe it or not, I’ll teach you a lesson!" Sienna said, looking fiercely at her daughter.
"Dad, look, your wife is bullying me again." Curly hid in her father’s arms, peeking her head out and looking playfully at her mother.
Sienna said, deliberately putting Adrian in a difficult position, "Adrian, your daughter is misbehaving again. She just indirectly insulted me. Help me teach her a lesson!"
"Uh..." He looked at his daughter and then at his wife, his expression troubled. He couldn’t afford to offend either woman, as both were formidable.
"Dad, will you help Mom or me?"
"Adrian, are you going to help your daughter or me?"
Both of them looked at Adrian simultaneously, making him feel caught in the middle, like the cream in a sandwich cookie, unable to do anything right or say anything appropriate.
Kiki didn’t say anything, just watched the family of three bicker. Suddenly, the cake in her hand was taken away. Kiki looked up and saw Lucas Robertson stuffing the cake into his own mouth.
"If you want to eat cake, there’s still plenty over there. Why are you taking mine?" Kiki asked, frowning.
"Pregnant women shouldn’t eat too much of this kind of food. You should eat less in the future."
Kiki usually loved sweets and hadn’t eaten them for a long time. Today, she finally had the chance to eat cake, all thanks to Curly. She didn’t expect this man to snatch it from her.
"I only had a few bites, and you’re already meddling." Kiki was unhappy.
After Sienna finished the cake, she rinsed her mouth with plain boiled water and then looked at Lucas, saying, "Lucas, come with me to the study."
Lucas was still eating the cake and didn’t move. Kiki pushed him and urged, "Sienna is calling you. Hurry up. I’ll save the cake for you; I won’t snatch it."
Lucas glanced at Kiki, then at the cake in his hand, not knowing what to say. He had taken the cake from her not because he liked it, but because he didn’t want her to eat too much junk food.
Adrian glanced at Lucas and then looked back at his daughter.
Sienna and Lucas headed to the study, leaving only the three of them in the dining room. Kiki was afraid of Adrian, but she couldn’t leave Curly alone. So, she had to brace herself and stay seated, feeling as if she were sitting on pins and needles—it was no exaggeration.
"You’re carrying Lucas’s child?" Adrian asked.
"Yes!" Kiki answered respectfully.
"Well..." Adrian trailed off, saying no more.
Kiki didn’t have the courage to initiate a conversation. Curly, on the other hand, was very bold. While eating cake, she accidentally smeared cream on her dad’s face. Adrian didn’t notice, so she found it amusing and began deliberately smearing more cream on his face.
In the end, neither of them ate any more cake; they just playfully smeared it on each other’s faces. Kiki watched from the side, shaking her head.
"Dad, you’ve grown a white beard! Haha..."
"Then I’ll give you a beard too!"
"No, Curly is beautiful! A beautiful girl with a beard isn’t pretty."
"Such a vain little girl! You’re tiny, and you already think you’re a beauty. If we’re talking about beauties, your mom is the real beauty," Adrian said, not hiding his love for his wife.
"Dad, you’re biased! You only like Mom and don’t like me."
"I like both of you."
"Not allowed! Tell me, who do you like more? Me, Curly, or Mom?"
"Uh..."
"Tell me!" Curly demanded, sitting on her father’s lap and refusing to give up.
Adrian looked at his daughter, a headache coming on, completely unsure how to answer this thorny question.
Adrian suddenly thought of the classic dilemma faced by Orienta men: if his wife and his mother fell into the water at the same time, whom would he save first? Now he was in the same predicament as those poor Orienta men. Although his own mother had passed away, so he didn’t have to face that specific question, he now had a mischievous daughter posing an equally unsolvable problem to torment him.
"Dad, tell me! Hurry up."
"Um, can I not answer?"
"No!"
Kiki couldn’t bear it anymore and said, stepping in to help Adrian out of his predicament, "Curly, stop bothering your dad. If you don’t behave, I’ll tell your mom."
Curly stuck her tongue out at Kiki.
Curly’s big eyes darted around, her little mind clearly scheming something. Suddenly, she changed the subject and asked, "Dad, lots of boys in my class like me. How many girls like you?"
Adrian rubbed his chin, thinking carefully for a moment before saying, "Too many to count."
"Then Dad, which woman do you love the most?" Curly asked slyly.
"Of course, it’s your mom!"
"Then Dad, who was your first girlfriend?"
"Your mom!"
"Besides Mom?"
Adrian pressed his forehead against Curly’s, their eyes locking. "Little girl, what are you trying to do?"
"Hehe, I’m just asking."
"No one else! I only have your mom. Don’t you try to sow discord and ruin the relationship between your mother and me."
Curly stuck her tongue out at Adrian and snuggled into his arms, acting coy.
「In the Johnson family’s study,」
Sienna, wearing a white, shiny dress, sat there in deep thought, her eyebrows lightly furrowed, resembling a figure in a freehand landscape painting.
Lucas looked around the Johnson family’s study. The Orienta-style design was evident everywhere; doors, windows, and even the ceiling were adorned with carvings. Simple yet exquisite, these carved patterns decorated the surfaces, imbuing the room with a rich classical aura. The motifs on the doors, windows, and ceiling were varied and vivid: soaring dragons, phoenixes rising from ashes, blooming flowers...
It was Lucas’s first time carefully observing the study, the Johnson residence. He no longer regarded it as a mere guesthouse, but as home.
In this ancient, elegant house, his child would be born and grow up, and he and Kiki would grow old together here...
