The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress-Chapter 674 - 715: It’s My Fault
"Is it my fault?"
Her coquettish, helpless, and self-mocking words amused Night Owl.
"Yeah, it’s your fault! It’s all your fault! If you had come to my side sooner, my first time would definitely have been yours." Night Owl’s voice had lost its anger; his tone was clear and light as he actually started joking with Sienna Johnson.
Sienna wasn’t pleased.
"That’s not my fault, nor is it yours. It’s just that our destinies weren’t deeply intertwined enough! So, we couldn’t become lovers, nor husband and wife. Night Owl, my stomach feels upset. I’m hanging up," she said coldly, her tone serious.
"Do you still like the token of affection I gave you?"
"Mr. Jervois, you’re mistaken. I haven’t received any token of affection from you!"
"The anklet on your foot is the unique token of affection I gave you!"
Sienna looked down at the platinum anklet on her foot, her brow furrowed tightly. "Is that so? This thing... it actually reminds me of the golden hoop the Goddess of Mercy put on Red Boy."
"What is that?"
Explaining Orientan culture to foreigners was truly a headache, and Sienna was in no mood to introduce him to *Journey to the West*, one of Orienta’s Four Great Epics.
"What will it take for you to remove this anklet?"
"It’s been agreed that it’s a token of affection, so how could it be removed? Oh, I’m wearing one too, exactly the same."
Hearing this, Sienna felt a wave of nausea. She would never want to wear the same anklet as this perverted man.
"I know you’ve sought help, but it’s useless. The anklet on your foot can never be removed."
Sienna was stubborn and hated being coerced more than anything. She developed a profound loathing for Night Owl. Even when Adrian Desmond had treated her so poorly in the past, she had never detested anyone this intensely.
For Night Owl to infuriate her to this extent was quite a feat on his part.
"Who says it’s impossible? I’ll just chop off my own foot!" Sienna declared fiercely.
There was silence on the other end for a long moment before a low, deep voice finally said, "Could you be that cruel to yourself? You wouldn’t be pretty with only one foot."
"Night Owl, the grudge is between you and Adrian Desmond! You men should resolve it yourselves! Why drag me, a woman, into it?" Sienna roared, completely losing her composure.
"..."
"Night Owl, don’t push me! If you push me too far, we can just go our separate ways, and that’ll be the end of it!"
Sienna hung up directly. He forbade her from hanging up first? Too bad, she just did. She’d like to see what he could possibly do to her.
"Who were you talking to?" Adrian Desmond entered just in time to see Sienna yelling in a rage.
Sienna was a very calm person and rarely lost her composure like this. He was curious who had angered her so much.
"Adrian Desmond!" Sienna’s eyes blazed with fury, like fiery arrows shooting towards Adrian Desmond.
"What’s going on?" Adrian Desmond was bewildered. Why did he suddenly feel like a punching bag?
Sienna stood up, one hand on her stomach, the other angrily pointing straight at the approaching Adrian Desmond’s nose.
"Don’t point your finger at me!"
Pointing one’s index finger at someone’s nose was extremely impolite in Abyanabad, especially when done by a woman. No matter how much Adrian Desmond doted on her, he wasn’t accustomed to a woman pointing at his nose.
"So, you don’t like me pointing at your nose? Ha! Can’t even handle this much, huh?"
"What on earth is wrong with you? Come on, tell me who angered you. I’ll teach them a lesson!" He grasped her hand, pulling the one pointing at his nose away.
"Night Owl! He bullied me! Go teach him a lesson!"
Adrian Desmond’s smile vanished. He asked, his face grim, "Were you just on the phone with Night Owl?"
"Yes!"
Adrian Desmond was displeased. "Who allowed you to speak with him on the phone!"
Sienna sneered repeatedly. "Adrian Desmond, you bastard! Don’t you dare give me that look. Do you think I want to talk to him? Do you have any idea what outrageous things he just said to me? Do you know how he humiliated me? Do you know what it feels like to be coerced?"
"..."
"Adrian Desmond, why must you drag me into the feud between you and that scoundrel Night Owl? What did I ever do to either of you to deserve being bullied like this?"
Adrian Desmond pulled the furious woman into his embrace, trying to soothe her. But Sienna wouldn’t let him touch her, struggling relentlessly. Adrian Desmond, however, held her firmly. "Don’t be angry. I’ll make him die all over again!"
"Good! Go kill him now!" Sienna pressed Adrian Desmond.
"I can’t do it right now!"
Sienna yelled, "You can’t? What are you talking about?"
"What exactly did he say to make you this angry?"
Sienna shoved Adrian Desmond away with all her might. She turned her back on him, taking deep breaths to calm her turbulent emotions.
"You, get out. I need to calm down."
"What did he say to you?"
"He didn’t say anything!"
"If he hadn’t said anything, you wouldn’t be this furious!"
Adrian Desmond moved to stand in front of her, but Sienna turned away again, refusing to even look at him. He reached out to touch her, but she forcefully brushed his hand away.
"Why lower yourself to argue with someone like that?"
His words, meant to be comforting, were like water dropped into hot oil, causing Sienna’s barely suppressed anger to flare up once more.
She turned around, looking up at the tall Adrian Desmond, her tone icy and sarcastic, "That’s right, why should I be angry? Why should I lower myself to the level of that despicable pervert."
"..."
"Besides, he didn’t say much. Only that I should leave you and become his woman."
"..."
"He also said that anything you can give me, he can give me; anything you can’t give me, he can give me too."
Sienna jiggled the anklet on her foot and chuckled lightly. "This thing... turns out it’s not a listening device. Night Owl said it’s the token of affection he gave me..." She looked up, her eyes filled with a cold, ironic smile, and said, word by word, "You probably don’t know, but Night Owl has one on his foot too, exactly the same..."
"..."
"He said this thing can never be taken off, for a lifetime!"
"..."
"Heh heh... So it seems I’ll be taking Night Owl’s token of affection to my grave. Sixth Master, you don’t think it’s a big deal, do you? It’s just a worthless anklet, after all."
Adrian Desmond’s eyes were as dark and profound as a dense, chilling night. He stared at the anklet on her foot, veins bulging on his forehead, his fists clenched so tightly they audibly cracked.
Having vented so much, Sienna felt drained. She hadn’t eaten, and her blood sugar was low, making her head spin. Sienna sat on the edge of the bed, unwilling to utter another word.
It was pointless, completely pointless.
Adrian Desmond left, radiating a murderous aura.
Sienna stared in the direction Adrian Desmond had gone, stunned for a few seconds, then suddenly cried out, "Oh no!"
