The Billionaire Can't Escape His Shameless Heiress Wife!-Chapter 3: Leaving Behind a Taste
Isabella didn’t need to make a scene.
That was the complete opposite of what her existence at the party should be. Hence, that’s why she chose the man to vent her irritation. He was alone, like her.
Kaelian Rei Veyron, a man who had been at the pinnacle of what royalty should be. Born with his handsome appearance, good educational background, and a wealthy family to back it up, he had the perfect package of a desirable son-in-law and lover. Add to the fact that he solely created his own multi-billion-dollar company, Phoenix Corporation, and was still in his 20s. Who wouldn’t want a man like that?
With his popularity, he easily got crowned as the most desirable man for three consecutive years. If one were to ask on the street who they preferred between him and a famous actor, they would name Kaelian as their first pick.
But things that are beautiful and unattainable would always lose their charm once they break, like how a butterfly wouldn’t be able to fly without its wings.
The news that Kaelian got into an accident and lost his sight immediately became an international sensation. People were quick to lament how pitiful it was to become blind at a young age.
Many wondered if this was what the heavens ordained for giving so much to Kaelian. Perhaps they want to take something from him in exchange for all his glorious achievements.
However, as time passed, more people began to gloat over his misfortune.
Yet, despite all of that, Kaelian still miraculously remained as the country’s most desirable bachelor.
After all, his blindness only added to his charm, and women were more than inclined to desire him from afar.
"Are you crazy?!"
The man burst in disbelief. This was his most expensive suit in his closet. Now, it was ruined because of this woman!
"Maybe?" Isabella blinked as she showed him a sweet smile.
"You ruined my clothes. Do you think I won’t pursue this matter?" The man bellowed, his fury steaming atop his head.
Isabella glanced down, observing his attire with an almost unamused expression. She seemed to remember seeing these exact clothes in a magazine. Was it worth 10,000 dollars? Compared to how everyone else was dressed in the scent of money, this man really dared to pursue her over this matter?
Besides, what Isabella wore tonight, plain and conservative as it is, was worth thirty-five thousand. She didn’t even include the jewelry she wore tonight.
Just as a few eyes were gathering on them, Isabella decided to placate the man first, just in case this scene would attract her uncle’s attention.
Waving a waitress, Isabella handed over a token and a check. She whispered to the waitress, "Take this gentleman to the back. Make sure he’s well entertained during his stay."
The waitress didn’t expect to be stopped, but her confusion immediately disappeared upon seeing the token in Isabella’s hand. Her mind was still filled with misgivings, yet she was sensible not to ask any question and merely replied, "Do rest assured, Miss."
Isabella slightly nodded her head before she turned around, no longer giving the man any of her attention. The man couldn’t understand why he was being dragged somewhere else, but seeing the hotel staff guiding him away and separating him from everyone else, he could only silently follow them.
But inwardly, he wondered if he had offended someone he shouldn’t have.
Now, he regretted spouting words he didn’t mean.

The few people who were attracted by the scene lost their interest quickly. Isabella’s actions and words were subtle and softly spoken so that most didn’t even hear her.
On the other hand, the man’s outburst after she ’accidentally’ spilled her wine and his words that openly mocked Kaelian in front of everyone caught their attention the most. Then, perhaps due to his actions, the hotel staff decided to drag him out to avoid causing more problems.
With the room settling again, Isabella returned to her usual calmness. The faint, gentle smile lingered on the tips of her lips as if she were a saint, unbothered by the filthiness of the world. Though the banquet and music resumed, people still took notice of her.
They watched as Isabella walked forward, taking each of her steps in complete confidence and lightness. In her hand, a new glass of wine swirled gently as she moved.
Under the collective gaze of everyone, she stopped before Kaelian.
"Welcome to the party, Mr. Veyron," she greeted him amiably. "May I offer you this wine?"
Kaelian didn’t respond to her at first. Isabella initially thought he would ignore her, so she didn’t have any expectation. Instead, she distractedly looked at him.
He was dressed rather casually tonight with a dark, fitted suit that showed off his broad shoulders and lean body. With the two buttons of his shirt undone, a bold V-line exposed his collarbones and a glimpse of his masculine chest. The sexy Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed. He was tall and strong, so that even while he looked frail and thin, he towered over everyone in the ballroom.
With great difficulty, Isabella struggled to break free from the temptation before her gaze slid towards his lips, where her throat felt slightly dry.
Isabella stood at the same place in a daze when, a moment later, she immediately looked up at him when she heard him speaking to her with a cold, deep voice. "I appreciate the kind offer, Miss. It’s better not to waste such precious wine. I’m afraid I’d end up spilling it on myself later."
Kaelian’s refusal was tactful. But Isabella could hear the double entendre in his words. He knew and heard what had happened earlier. Was he suspicious that she might ’accidentally’ spill it on him, too?
Did she appear malicious to him?
Isabella smiled at herself, harboring an astringent look.
At this point, Isabella understood Kaelian wanted to keep her at bay. He didn’t know her. He couldn’t even see her. His only impression of her was what happened between her and that man a few minutes ago. To him, she was merely a stranger who harbored unfathomable motives, not the plain-looking girl everyone believed her to be, nor the girl he had once met ten years ago.
He no longer remembers me...
Thinking of this, she appeared not to mind his rejection and stepped forward.
She effortlessly leaned closer to him, entering his personal space, and before Kaelian could move away, a dainty hand placed a wineglass in his, clasping his own with her other hand to make sure he held on to the glass securely before letting go.
"Careful—it might leave a taste you can’t wash away."
Isabella whispered, leaving behind a distinct and fragrant scent as she walked away from him.
