Chapter 109: The twins departure.

It wasn’t a stalker. Maya had been expecting that pervert to harass her by sending her nauseating messages through another number. She waited for days, but the pervert never texted her again. She put her mind at ease, concluding that it was just a mistake, the wrong number thing.

Suitcases were huddled together behind an open car trunk as River hurled them in. Oliver and River are leaving today to travel the world, and Maya was a sobbing mess as she fussed over the twins. "Make sure to call us every chance you get," she said as she embraced Oliver.

"Don’t forget to take your meds," Oliver reminded her. "I will still be your doctor, virtual doctor, checking in on you from time to time."

Maya hugged him tighter. "I will miss you all. Come here, River." She pulled River into their embrace. There will be a big void in her life with them gone. These twins became the brothers have showered her with the tender love, compassion, and protective care that she had longed for from her abusive half-brother, Terence. They’re taking a piece of her heart with their departure.

"Don’t cry, beautiful Maya. We will be home for the holidays," River consoled her.

Dalton pulled her into his chisel chest. "We will visit them anywhere in the world when we have free time."

Maya wiped her tear-streaked face on Dalton’s chest. "I will send you guys a lot of baked goods, I promise."

"We want lots of cookies," Oliver grinned.

"Are you done with the crying fit? You can’t keep your pilot waiting," Aiden rumbled from behind the wheel. Maya thought Dalton was the one who liked to mask his emotions, but Aiden was even worse. He is pretending not to be affected by his brother’s departure, but Maya caught him with tears in his eyes, standing behind Oliver’s door, watching him pack.

The twins gave Maya one last hug and got into the car. "I’m going with them to the airport," Dalton says as he also gets in.

A question she wanted to ask Oliver suddenly sneaks into her mind. She leaned over the car. "Oliver, I want to ask a health-related question."

"Sure." He stepped out of the car. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

"What do you want to ask?"

"How did you conduct a drug test on me while I was unconscious, and how did you determine that I took three pills of my medication instead of two?"

Oliver smiled and answered. "I conducted a blood drug test. I took a blood sample from a vein in your arm. The test led me to identify the type of drug you took and determine the dosage based on the concentration peak in your blood."

Maya nodded, feeling well-informed. "Oh, okay. Thank you for the education."

"You’re welcome. Remember to reach out to me on FaceTime anytime you have a health question," Oliver says as he gets back into the car.

Maya waved as Aiden drove away. Once the car was out of sight, she went back inside to make dinner.

As she was doing the prepping, she became lost in her thoughts, reflecting on the fact that she still hadn’t recalled taking her medication last Friday afternoon. She unintentionally left her medication at home that day.

It has been almost a week since Dalton and Aiden destroyed Vico’s mafia empire. The serial bombings of warehouses, the demolition of the Venus City Gentlemen’s Club building, and the FBI’s successful drug bust of Vico’s nightclubs have been sensational news on both traditional and social media all week.

Most people have yet to realize that the bombings of the warehouses and the FBI raids on Vico’s nightclubs and restaurants are related. However, the influential people who run the country know these incidents are connected and that Dalton Black and his psycho brother are responsible for the downfall of Vico’s mafia empire.

Their fear of Dalton has tripled, making it easy for him to acquire companies without much hustle. In just a week, he procured five profitable companies into his business empire, The Black Corporations."

Now, none of his enemies dare to try to harm Maya to get to him. They know Aiden will eliminate them before they can get anywhere near her. Mr. Wilson’s incident occurred because he let his guard down, but since then, he has increased Maya’s security.

"Take care of our youngest brother, River," Aiden said as he made a turn on the road. His voice surges with so much emotion he is trying to hide.

River came out before Oliver, making Oliver the youngest, and Aiden, at 27, was 14 months older than the twins.

River playfully salutes. "I’m going to be his bodyguard, no worries guys. "

"No need to worry about security," Dalton says. "I have assigned five ex-special forces soldiers to protect you two. They are already in the private jet waiting for you, so you can travel anywhere in the world without encountering harm."

Dalton lied; the former special forces soldiers are more than five, they are a dozen, and he has bugged their phones so he can know their locations at all times. Even though he has done all this to ensure their safety, he is still very anxious. The fact that his younger brothers are traveling around this chaotic world does not sit well with him. However, he is great at masking his emotions. His face is blank, revealing none of the anxiousness he feels.

"Thanks, big brother." Oliver shot a small smile at Dalton. "Don’t worry; we will be cautious out there."

"Mm," Dalton just nodded in response.

"You need to be cautious as well. I know you and Aiden are responsible for what happened to Vico’s mafia organization." Oliver equipped. "This is the only craziest thing you two have done I will applaud you for." A proud smile spread across Oliver’s face.

"That was the baddest thing you guys have ever done," River exclaimed.

Aiden chuckled cockily. "Tom Cruise should cast me in his Mission Impossible movies."

Oliver laughed, and playfully warned, "Don’t go doing any more crazy stuff while we’re away."

A mischievous gleam flickered in Aiden’s eyes. "Oh, you guys have no idea what’s coming."

"What?" the twins, Dalton and his brother, exclaimed.

"One more week until you find out what that is." Aiden winked and focused on the road.

Noticing the light mood in the car, Dalton decided to make an announcement.

"I’m asking Maya to marry me this weekend."
