The Billionaire's Rental Wife Is A Hot Shot-Chapter 112: Don’t You Like Him?
Chapter 112: Don’t You Like Him?
"Can you call your brother and confirm it?" Lucius suggested, feeling that things were getting mixed up in the wrong way. No one had a clue of what was Maverick’s real identity, he would switch it quite too often before someone could pinpoint him with all the legal documents. His real identity had always been a mystery in the mafia world, and his real picture was an even bigger puzzle.
Evelyn didn’t respond quickly as it would put Elias in trouble again. He was already hating his mother to the core and if Sophia was behind this murder, he would only break to the extent of never mending back. But since everything got connected to Gracia, she decided to drag him too in this mess.
Taking out her phone, Evelyn quickly dialed her brother. And after three trials, he finally picked it up. "If it’s not urgent, I will call you later. I am in a meeting, sis."
"I need your help, Eli," Evelyn replied immediately, causing Elias to hum and pause the meeting. Excusing himself from the clients and gesturing to the staff to take care of them, he walked out toward his chamber.
"Yep, tell me."
"Can you send me the picture of Maverick you saw in Sophia’s gallery?"
Elias frowned in response, her question clicking all the alarms in his mind. Ever since he had caught his mother that night and had warned her to break up, Sophia didn’t meet that guy again according to the spies he had sent behind her. She was taking part in all the religious events suddenly that he thought she had changed for good. But, Evelyn’s request said otherwise, conveying Sophia was up to something weird again.
"The Arabian guy you showed me seems like one of Avery’s new clients. We just need to make sure that he is a good guy. He has no social media accounts so she wants a better picture for investigation," Evelyn babbled whatever reason fitted the best. She had no answers to the questions Elias might throw at her.
Damien nodded and gave Evelyn a thumbs up, her lies sounding like an accurate explanation. What she said wasn’t a lie since Maverick had zero connection to the Internet world and usually had different makeovers in different pictures.
"Alright. Give me a minute." Elias seemed to be convinced which made Evelyn sigh in relief. He quickly opened his laptop and looked through the drive he had created specifically to track and look into his mother’s phone. The picture was saved quite a couple of months ago and luckily he found it.
"It’s a selfie so make sure to crop mom’s picture before sending it for investigation," Elias stated before sending the picture to his sister.
Evelyn nodded in understanding. "Alright. Call me once you get free."
As soon as Elias hummed and ended the call, Evelyn quickly passed the phone to Lucius who was already set up to work on the image. He copied it to his laptop and sent it to his team to get the exact time, date, and venue the picture was taken.
"It looks like some elite club party," Lucius declared after a few minutes of work by his team. Showing more pictures from the same venue, he continued, "It was back in January when a women’s club had thrown a New Year party having around 300 invitees."
Damien leaned closer and looked at the picture where Maverick was even seen clicking pictures with other guests. "What’s his name here?"
"It’s quite big but Sameer in short," Lucius replied, showing the guest list. Luckily, Maverick was the only Arab among everyone so it was very easy to get the details.
"And what’s in here?" Damien asked, pointing at the picture on the blueprint where Evelyn had recognized him earlier.
"Khalid Al-Mahmoud. Oddly, it had been registered for a few years now. Seems like he uses this one when he needs to stay longer in the Arab country." Lucius noted down, merging the pictures and getting them side by side.
While the men continued discussing about this guy among themselves, Evelyn and Avery kept exchanging glances, finding most of their chat a mystery. That’s when they realized what mafia talks would sound like as their minds couldn’t catch most of their words.
"We will try to get a picture of him with the scar you mentioned," Damien finally spoke to Evelyn. "My team will also try to get a couple of pictures without the beard and the Arab outfit we see in these two."
"Do you think he was the same guy who shot her?" Evelyn asked, understanding what he was implying to do. They would create a few normal pictures of him which was easy using AI and she might find her kidnapper among them.
"Maybe. I strongly feel she is behind both the murders." Damien replied in a confident tone. For Sophia to kill the only people who seemed to have little knowledge about Gracia, pretty much made her the main suspect for Gracia’s death too. After all, she could do anything to get Wright company.
Evelyn nodded, heaving a small sigh. It didn’t matter anymore if she was the real daughter or not, or was there more to what Reema had revealed about her birth and how William adopted her to replace his dead one-year-old child. Gracia was her mother and Sophia would face her wrath again if she had even the slightest involvement in her murder.
"If there’s nothing else, let’s go." Avery brought Evelyn out of her thoughts. "We still have tonnes of work to do," Her worried boss added, making Evelyn nod with a smile.
"Oh, I heard it from Zev," Damien remarked, leaning back with a smirk. "No one would have ever guessed the hotshot hidden architect of AWE is you."
"For god’s sake, she is an Interior Designer, not an architect." Avery groaned in frustration. It was still a mystery how his dumb brain was managing a whole mobster organization.
"What’s the difference?" Damien retorted leisurely with a scowl.
"Something you pea-sized pig brain won’t understand," Avery replied, causing Damien to grit his teeth.
"Just like how your rat brain couldn’t quite get what we were talking about earlier."
Avery wanted to spit back but took a deep breath. She glared at the annoying prick who was smiling so sweetly that she felt like stapling those lips permanently. Turning to Evelyn, she added, "Let’s go before I split his head into two."
Lucius had heard of their cat-fights from Damien’s minions and it was his first time witnessing it. Getting up from his seat, he offered the ladies with a smile, "I will walk you out."
"Learn something from him," Avery said to Damien, making Evelyn shake her head. She was again starting a fight!
"Unfortunately, it doesn’t work on your cousin. I mean my dear wife Nat. So nope." Damien replied, shaking his head. His words made Avery curse out loudly but before she could argue, Lucius gently pushed her toward the door.
"Whatever is your reason, I hope it doesn’t hurt her more." Evelyn reprimanded him in Avery’s place, her words more of a warning. "And if it is because you have feelings for her, then make sure to fight like a gentleman rather than a mafia boss. You have a higher chance in my eyes against Dominic." She added with a small smile, her words causing Damien’s expression to twitch slightly.
So Kiana wasn’t making things that day. Evelyn thought in her head as Damien stared at her in surprise, recalling the time in her hospital. "They would be moving to Aracamia a few weeks later, so good luck." She added, before walking out of the room.
Damien didn’t understand why he didn’t argue with what Evelyn just said to him. Feelings? He chuckled dryly as they had long gone when Natalie had slapped him that night in Qubarc a year ago. He had simply suggested that if she was that desperate to have a husband, he could always play the role and all she needed to do was divorce Dominic.
"I am doing it just to save her from making stupid decisions again," he murmured, more to himself. Dominic can never be a good husband to her and this was the only way to keep them apart. And even if Zevian was against it, he was going to continue with this marriage plan to stop Natalie from falling for that dumb man again.
While outside, Avery quickly drove her car out of the parking lot. Evelyn thanked Lucius and got into the car before Avery drove out of the basement.
"Do you think they liked each other?" Evelyn couldn’t help but ask Avery. The more she thought about Damien and Natalie’s relationship, the stronger she felt they had a past.
Avery frowned at her question. "Who Nat and this dumb pig?" And when Evelyn nodded, she scoffed out loud. "Impossible. Who would like him?"
"You," Evelyn replied nonchalantly. "Don’t you like him?" she asked with a teasing smile, causing Avery to stop the car abruptly.freēwēbnovel.com
