The Billionaire's Rental Wife Is A Hot Shot-Chapter 45: Cuddles and Kisses
Chapter 45: Cuddles and Kisses
The next morning, a cool breeze drifted through the large French windows, gently waking Evelyn. She blinked her eyes open, the warmth of something soft and snug pressed against her bringing a sense of peace. As she rubbed her eyes, she glanced down and found Kiana, her sweet, chubby little bear, curled up against her with one tiny arm and leg wrapped securely around her waist.
Evelyn’s initial surprise quickly dissolved into delight, her heart swelling with affection. A smile lit up her face as Kiana snuggled closer, the chill from the breeze causing her to seek more warmth. With a tender hand, Evelyn lifted the blanket, tucking it around her daughter. The little girl’s gentle snores filled the room, bringing a gentle warmth to Evelyn’s heart.
As Evelyn’s gaze drifted upward, she found herself captivated by an even more endearing sight—Zevian, lying beside them. He had turned in his sleep, facing them with his handsome features softened by the golden light of dawn. His dark eyebrows framed his closed eyes, and a few tousled strands of hair had fallen across his forehead. Evelyn felt a sudden urge to reach out and brush them aside, but she resisted, not wanting to disturb the peaceful scene. His strong nose and relaxed lips added a quiet allure to his appearance, making him seem even more irresistible.
The sight was perfect, brightening Evelyn’s morning in a way that felt almost magical. How wonderful it would be to wake up to this beautiful view every day. She thought, a silly smile spreading across her face.
"Good morning, Mommy," Kiana murmured, her sleepy voice pulling Evelyn from her thoughts. The little girl sat up, rubbing her eyes with tiny hands before looking up at her mother with a groggy smile.
"Good morning, sweetheart," Evelyn replied, her voice filled with warmth. She sat up as well, pulling Kiana into her arms and letting the girl rest against her chest as she leaned back on the headboard.
"Where’s my morning kissy?" Kiana asked, yawning and peering up at her mother with wide, expectant eyes.
Evelyn couldn’t help but smile wider at her daughter’s request. She leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on top of Kiana’s head. "And where’s mine?" she asked playfully, pulling back with a teasing look.
Kiana grinned, cupping her mother’s face with her tiny hands before leaning in to softly kiss her cheek. The mother-daughter duo giggled, sharing their special morning routine, lost in their little world.
"Did you sleep well, baby?" Evelyn asked, gently wiping the sleep from Kiana’s eyes.
The little girl nodded eagerly. "Yes! I slept happily with both of you beside me. I even dreamed of us going to a fairyland and picking up handsome princes for me."
Evelyn chuckled, her heart warming at the innocence of Kiana’s dream. "Daddy didn’t like him, so he locked him in a super tall tower. But you convinced him, and we rescued him together. Later, we all lived happily in our big pink palace," Kiana continued, her voice filled with excitement.
Evelyn couldn’t help but laugh. "I think your dad won’t like any of your boyfriends in real life either when you grow up, but don’t worry, I’ll convince him," she said with a lighthearted chuckle, causing Kiana to grin.
Kiana turned her attention to Zevian, who was still fast asleep. Determined to wake him up, she crawled over to him and gently shook his arm. "Daddy! Daddy! Wake up! It’s already 7 AM, and you’ll be late for school—no, work!"
Evelyn stifled a laugh as she watched her daughter mimic Agatha’s panicked tone, the one she used every morning to wake Evelyn up for school. A smile spread across her face as Zevian slowly stirred, groaning as Kiana perched on his stomach and patted his cheeks.
"Good morning, Daddy!" Kiana exclaimed, her voice filled with pure joy as Zevian finally opened his eyes and sat up, leaning back on the headboard beside Evelyn. The little girl cupped his face and kissed his forehead, following the same routine she had with her mother. The gesture brought a smile to Zevian’s face.
"Morning, baby," Zevian replied, ruffling his daughter’s hair. Kiana beamed in response, her happiness contagious.
Zevian glanced at Evelyn, his gaze warm and filled with affection. "Good morning," he greeted softly.
"Morning," Evelyn replied just as tenderly. Their simple exchange brought a frown to Kiana’s face.
"Just a wish?" Kiana mumbled, her innocent curiosity shining through. When her parents looked down at her, she asked, "Where are the kissies?"
Evelyn’s smile faltered, a blush creeping up her cheeks at her daughter’s request. She glanced at Zevian, who was already looking at her with a playful glint in his eyes, clearly considering whether to join in on their little morning tradition.
Clearing her throat, Evelyn tried to explain, "It’s just between us, baby. It’s not for adults—"
But before she could finish, Zevian leaned over, closing the distance between them. He placed a soft, lingering kiss on her cheek, drawing it out just long enough to make her heart flutter in surprise.
The warmth of his kiss seared her skin, sending a delicious heat spreading through her entire body. Evelyn’s heart pounded against her chest, her thoughts consumed by the softness of his lips and the lingering sensation of his touch.
"And where’s mine?" Zevian asked innocently, blinking his eyes in mock innocence, bringing Evelyn out of her daze. She shot him a glare, embarrassed and slightly annoyed that he would tease her right in front of their daughter, who seemed all too eager to join his side.
"Yes! Yes! Kiss Daddy, Mommy!" Kiana declared, clapping her little hands excitedly.
Zevian leaned closer, making it even easier for her. Evelyn gritted her teeth, her cheeks turning a deeper shade of red—not from embarrassment, but from irritation. This man never misses a chance to tease me! she thought, glaring at her husband as their daughter eagerly watched.
Well, why not turn the tables this time? But then an idea popped into Evelyn’s mind, a small smile returning to her lips.
"Alright," Evelyn mumbled, surprising Zevian with her quick agreement. His surprise turned into shock when she suddenly grabbed his chin, forcing him to look directly into her eyes. Mischief sparkled in her brown orbs, and before Zevian could react, Evelyn leaned in and captured his lips in a small, teasing kiss. Just like he had done, she paused for a few torturous seconds, sending his heart racing before pulling back with a triumphant smile.
"Yay!" Kiana cheered, clapping her hands in glee. A giggle escaped her lips as she noticed her daddy’s flustered expression. "Hehehe, Daddy is blushing!" she commented, unable to hold back her laughter.
Zevian felt the entire world blur around him, the soft yet heated sensation of Evelyn’s lips still lingering on his. He turned to his daring wife, who now wore a knowing smirk, clearly proud of herself for turning the tables.
How could she do that in front of our daughter? he thought, subconsciously licking his lips lightly. But as their eyes locked, he realized that Evelyn had played her card knowing full well he wouldn’t dare continue this playful banter in front of Kiana.
"Come on, let’s get you ready for school," Evelyn said, her voice laced with amusement as she reached for her phone on the nightstand. She glanced at Zevian, trying her best to suppress a laugh. He looked so damn cute with that surprised expression that she hoped to get to see it more often.
But just as she swung her legs over the side of the bed, a sharp pain shot through her ankle, and she let out a small yelp, quickly sitting back down. Kiana, who had been laughing moments earlier, looked up at her mother with concern, her once joyful expression replaced by worry.
Zevian sighed, shaking his head slightly. Some things never change, her clumsiness of everything! he thought. Her clumsiness of everything!
Without a word, he slipped out of bed and lifted Evelyn into his arms, earning a startled gasp from her. Evelyn stared at him in horror, her hands instinctively curling around his neck.
Kiana, realizing what was happening, quickly hopped off the bed and opened the door for her father, dutifully taking on her role as the helper.
"Call me if you need to go anywhere," Zevian said, his tone firm as he carried Evelyn toward her room. "And if I’m not around, ask for someone’s help. Don’t walk around recklessly for the next few days."
Evelyn nodded, her earlier victorious smirk fading into a soft blush. She didn’t mind being carried in his arms, but the way people were staring, giggling, and whispering as they passed by made her want to bury her face in his chest.
"Oh, what a good morning it is," Avery teased, laughing as Zevian walked into Evelyn’s room with her still in his arms. Little Kiana followed behind, earning a thumbs-up from Avery, her cupid boss.
Just as the morning seemed perfect, Evelyn’s phone suddenly rang a few times. Seeing that it was Annabelle, she ignored it. But when Elias called, she answered it.
"Hello—" Before she could say more, Elias delivered shocking news, causing Evelyn’s eyes to widen in alarm.
"What’s wrong?" Zevian asked, his concern growing as he noticed Evelyn trembling slightly.
"Dad had a heart attack—he’s in danger," Evelyn blurted out, her voice shaky as she struggled to process the news. Avery’s smile faded, replaced by worry, while Zevian’s expression changed into a smirk, realizing Sophia was moving quickly with her plans.
