The Billionaire's Rental Wife Is A Hot Shot-Chapter 44: A cute intruder
Chapter 44: A cute intruder
"To sleep with you, of course."
Evelyn’s heart skipped a beat, the words echoing in her mind like a broken record. She looked up at Zevian, his expression so serious that it made her cheeks burn even hotter. Was he teasing her? But the way he looked down at her, those intense eyes locked on hers, said he was dead serious.
"I-I don’t want to sleep with you!" Evelyn grumbled, desperately trying to keep her emotions in check, even though her heart was racing.
"But I do," Zevian’s response came so quickly that she didn’t have time to process it, let alone respond. Oh, how she regretted making that silly wish last night, now realizing it was probably the reason behind his bold behavior.
Before she knew it, they were standing in front of his room. Zevian pushed the door open with his foot and walked inside, the soft click of the door locking behind them sending her heart into a marathon again.
He carried her to the bed, gently laying her down on the soft mattress. The warmth of his breath brushed against her skin as he leaned in close, sending a shiver down her spine. The closeness was dizzying, even though she was completely sober!
Zevian adjusted the pillow behind her, making sure she was comfortable. He patted her head gently, his voice soft as he said, "Sleep."
Sleep? Evelyn scoffed inwardly. How was she supposed to sleep after he had stirred her so completely, melting away even her exhaustion with just his actions?
"How annoying," she mumbled as he walked into the bathroom. At least a small kiss would’ve been some justice for all the trouble he was causing her! With a pout, she quickly texted Avery, knowing her friend would panic to didn’t not her in their room.
It wasn’t long before Zevian emerged from the bathroom, dressed in comfortable clothes, his hair slightly damp and tousled.
"I want to go to my room!" Evelyn grumbled, realizing a little too late that all he was was to just sleep beside her.
A warm smile spreading across Zevian’s face. It seemed he had managed to tease her yet again, even without meaning to. Instead of replying, he got into the bed and laid beside her. Evelyn’s breath hitched when his arm around he waist, gently pulling her close, his touch both comforting and heating up.
"I won’t be able to sleep if you’re away, Eva," Zevian murmured, his voice low and sincere. The way he called her by that nickname, the one only he was allowed to use, brought back a flood of memories. It warmed her heart, and she realized she had missed hearing it so much!
"So stay with me," he continued, his tone commanding yet laced with concern. "Day or night, I don’t care, I just need you by my side. It’s the only way I can make sure you’re safe."
Evelyn’s heart squeezed at his words, and she looked up at him, her eyes locking with his filled with sincerity. Last night had been overwhelming for both of them, and she knew the thought of her being in danger again must have been weighing heavily on his mind.
She didn’t know how to respond, her voice seemingly lost. Instead, she offered him a small, tender smile and moved closer, resting her head on his chest. It was the only way she could think of to ease his worry. "Goodnight," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
"Goodnight," Zevian replied, his warm breath tickling her ear. His arm tightened around her waist, pulling her even closer before he closed his eyes.
Evelyn felt his warmth envelop her, and she slowly began to relax, her head nestled on his chest. For the first time in what felt like forever, she felt truly safe and cherished. The steady rhythm of his heartbeat beneath her ear was a soothing lullaby, and before she knew it, her eyelids grew heavy, luring her into a peaceful slumber.
As Evelyn slowly fell asleep, Zevian pressed a soft, lingering kiss to the top of her head. She smiled in her sleep and snuggling closer to him, she drifted off into a deep, comforting sleep, knowing she was exactly where she always wanted to be.
But just as Zevian was about to relax and drift into sleep, he heard the soft click of his door opening. His eyes narrowed, and he turned slightly toward the door. No one had permission to enter his room without his consent—except for one.
Kiana slowly pushed the door open, with Agatha following behind, holding the keys to the room. The little girl, eager to see Evelyn, had insisted on coming inside when she heard her mommy was with her daddy, leaving Agatha with no choice but to open the door.
Kiana peeked into the dimly lit room, her eyes landing on the bed where her daddy was already staring in their direction. Zevian gestured for her to come inside, and Kiana happily rushed in, with Agatha quietly closing the door behind her. ƒrēenovelkiss.com
"I can’t fall asleep," Kiana pouted as she clambered up onto the bed with her little legs. When she saw her mommy sleeping beside her daddy, her eyes sparkled with delight.
"I want to sleep with her too!" she huffed, feeling it was unfair that only her daddy got to sleep with her mommy.
Zevian smiled and, carefully sitting up, he lifted his daughter and gently placed her between them. Kiana happily snuggled in, turning fully toward Evelyn as she admired her sleeping mother.
"She looks beautiful even in sleep," Kiana murmured, her innocent words bringing a smile to Zevian’s face. Leaning closer to Evelyn, the little girl placed a soft kiss on her mother’s forehead. "Sweet dreams, Mommy," she whispered before settling in contentedly beside her.
Zevian’s heart warmed at Kiana’s gesture, deeply moved by how her simple wish had come true. Whenever her classmates mentioned that they could sleep with their parents whenever they wanted, Kiana would come home sulking and teary-eyed. But now, she could sleep with both her mommy and daddy, together, in the same bed.
Gently tucking Kiana under the blanket, Zevian laid back down beside his daughter, his heart full.
Kiana turned to him, her eyes bright with hope. "Can we sleep together every day?" she asked.
"Well, I wouldn’t mind. But you’ll have to convince your mommy first," Zevian replied with a soft smile.
Kiana turned to look at Evelyn and giggled softly. "Oh, that’s easy-peasy!" she declared, turning back to Zevian, who chuckled softly at her confidence.
She then moved closer to her daddy, wrapping her small arms around his neck, and in a serious tone, said, "You’re the best daddy in the world."
Zevian’s eyes widened slightly, twinkling with amusement. "And why’s that?" he asked, surprised by the sudden praise. He was more accustomed to hearing complaints—about how he didn’t love her or was a "bad daddy" ever since she had learned to talk and throw tantrums.
"Because you got me the best mommy in the world," Kiana replied without a second thought. Zevian shook his head lightly, touched by her words, as the little girl grinned and turned around to hug her mommy once more.
