When Harlow skipped reading the whole file earlier, Elisa and Claudia both sighed with relief. Their secret would stay hidden, for now at least.
They knew they had to be extra careful with every move they made. What they did not know was that someone had already uncovered the truth. This unexpected person had secretly told her maid to pass the document to Harlow, believing it would be very useful. But Harlow had only read part of it, focusing only on Claudia’s plan to fake a miscarriage.
On the balcony, Elisa watched as Jane stepped into the dark Villa. Earlier, while guards took Claudia away, Claudia had urged her mother to get the document from Harlow. The paper held the truth about everything, and they could not let anyone else see it. Elisa trembled at the thought of Frank discovering that the child she had used to trap him was not his and that it truly belonged to someone else.
She made him send his real child out of the family and treated her like an outcast. Claudia is the real leech, she’s the outcast they have turned Harlow into.
Elisa took out her phone immediately and sent a text to someone important.
’Add more substance into his morning tea, and make sure he drinks all of it."
She needed to eliminate Frank and quickly, she couldn’t afford him finding out about it.
’I’m afraid that is no longer possible madam, master doesn’t drink his morning tea anymore.’
Elisa frowned at this. Since when did Frank stop drinking his tea? Morning teas are his favorite, he can never have a productive day without drinking them. She gritted her teeth at the thought.
At the same time, Jane moved quietly through the lounge. With Alanis’s maids busy caring for his grandmother, Jane found it easier to slip around the Villa unnoticed.
When she couldn’t find the document in the lounge, Jane climbed the stairs. There was only one place left where it could be hidden, in Alanis’s room. She hesitated, wondering whether to return in the morning or risk taking it tonight. Entering his room without his permission felt like inviting trouble. Jane knew that nothing could protect her from Alanis’s anger if he caught her.
With a shaky breath, Jane stood before the door. The entire Villa, and even the quiet room, seemed to hold its breath. The silence was so deep that she could have sworn she heard a pin drop.
In that heavy silence, Jane’s heart pounded with fear. She stared at the large black door before her, contemplating whether to step in or just go back. Alanis or Harlow could be awake.
She placed her ears on their bedroom door but heard no sound. Could be fast asleep and she’s only overreacting? Jane shook her head. Her miss Harlow must be asleep, but certainly not her master Alanis.
She had been their maid since he was a child, she knew he stayed up at night. Jane sighed. This was an impossible task. If the document was so important to Elisa, why didn’t she come get it herself?
Jane stood there still lost in her thoughts when a thought came to her immediately.
His study...
It’s the place where he drops everything he owns. Maybe it’s in his study. Alanis always keeps important files in there. Jane nodded at her thoughts and went ahead to the study.
When she arrived at the study, Jane searched through all the files and books. She spent hours reading through everything in there but she couldn’t find the file Harlow had held. The one that contained all of Claudia’s report. She had no idea where Harlow had kept it.
She couldn’t go into Alanis’s bedroom, not now, not ever. He would skin her alive if he found her lurking there. She hadn’t forgotten Harlow’s ruthless punishment the last time she offended her. Since then, Jane knows not to provoke the girl anymore.
They have all been waiting for Alanis to hate her and maybe send her away, but none of that has happened. He keeps protecting her. He keeps loving her and showing affection to her.
Taking her punishment had been the last nail in the coffin. The Alanis they knew would never treat Harlow that way. He loathed her so much he couldn’t even look at her, but everything changed in the blink of an eye.
To this day, most maids think she has bewitched him, but it doesn’t look at way because Harlow doesn’t love their master.
But her master Alanis was too blind to see it. As if making her the CEO of the company was not enough, Garth had spoken about him speaking to their Lawyer. He was ready to will everything he owned to Harlow. Which meant she would own their company, their estates, and everything the Hamiltons ever owned.
Garth had fallen sick for two days after hearing that. This is why she had devised a plan, not only for Alanis but also for Harlow. They need to eliminate those two, and quickly.
Jane started walking out of the Villa. She could lie to Elisa and say she couldn’t find it. What could the document contain that would mean so much to the woman anyway?
When she reached Garth’s Villa she stepped inside only to see the proud Elisa standing before her. Her eyes scampered around the maid’s body, looking for any trace of the document she had asked her to fetch but she didn’t see anything.
Two things cannot go wrong for her in one night. First, it was Frank, nor this?
"Where is it." Elisa’s words were urgent as she stared at the useless maid.
"I’m afraid I didn’t find it, Madam Elisa." Came Jane’s soft words.
"What are you talking about?" Elisa barked. "Do you know how important that document is?" Elisa asked.
"I gave you one simple task, just one little task and you couldn’t handle it." She yelled and started walking back into her room. This is why she loved to do things her way. One way or the other she would get her hands on that file, for now, they were safe because it seemed Harlow had not read through it.
But she needed to get it before someone else saw it.
