When Alanis stepped back into the room, he was met with emptiness.

His gaze swept over the space before settling on the open balcony doors, where a lone figure stood. A slow smile curved his lips.

There she was, the cold wind moving a few dry strands of her wet hair as the cold air bit into her skin.

Alanis took his time walking toward her, savoring the moment.

Though Harlow had fought to keep her emotions hidden, she was losing the battle. She could no longer pretend she wasn’t affected. Not like this. Not when he was deliberately seducing her.

Her grip on the railing tightened as she let out a shaky breath.

She hated this...

She hated him...

But most of all, she hated herself for the way her body responded.

Lost in thought, she barely registered the presence behind her until it was too late.

Alanis placed both hands on the railing, caging her in. His body was close, too close, his warmth seeping into her skin. And then, just as she expected, he leaned in until his lips brushed near her ear, his voice a dark whisper.

"I never asked you to leave." He whispered and she turned to meet his gaze with a hard stare. She would never see Alanis the same again, not after tonight.

"I thought you didn’t love me?"

"I don’t." She responded coldly.

"So why did you run away?"

"Because I can’t stand the sight of you." She said casually. She knew if she hadn’t complied with his request she would be extending the punishment. She had just one week, one while antagonizing week to endure his endless wants and punishment. And nothing in this world would make her break the rules anymore.

"Really." Alanis leaned closer, his hot breath fanning her face. Harlow had no idea she had stopped breathing.

"You’re crossing the line this time," she said, her voice firm.

"But I haven’t even touched you yet," he mused, a smirk playing on his lips.

She hated that smirk.

"I know you’re scared, my villain," he murmured, his voice low and velvety. "But I can help you... just as you helped me."

That was the devil himself speaking.

Tempting.

Luring.

Harlow sucked in a breath, her body betraying her. She could feel the fire building inside her again, the same fire she had fought so hard to extinguish.

But it was useless.

This man, this demon before her, had consumed her mind, taken root in her thoughts, and burrowed deep into places she wished she could rip him from.

How had he done it?

How had she gone from hatred to this?

She had no idea why she wanted the man she should despise. Her enemy.

And yet...

"I don’t have to touch you to make you feel better," Alanis continued smoothly, his voice dripping with wicked amusement. "Unless, of course, you want me to."

Harlow’s breath hitched.

Though her face remained composed, inside, her mind was in chaos. Her heart pounded against her ribs, her thoughts a tangled mess.

"I never said I needed your help for anything," she bit out. "Now let me be." With that, she pushed past him, stepping back into the bedroom without another glance.

She had made herself a promise. No matter how much he tempted her. No matter how much her body begged for him.

She would never give in. She would rather die than let him have his way with her. Because in the past, Alanis had been the worst father.

And she refused to let history repeat itself.

Harlow climbed the bed, completely forgetting what Ava had asked of her. She couldn’t think straight anymore, not with the demon living in the room with her.

This is not what she imagined living with this man would be like. She had thought she would be in charge, to be in full control of everything. But it turns out she was wrong.

She climbed the bed and laid down backing his side of the bed as she tried to sleep. She would just sleep through the ache and pain, by morning, she’d feel better.

Alanis walked back into the bedroom still in his dark robe. He didn’t bother to speak to her anymore. He’s had enough for one night. Alanis imed his side of the bed and slept off.

When morning came by, Harlow had woken up to roses of different kinds on her bed again. Waking up to the scent of roses has become a norm for her. Harlow picked one of the roses, "Ah." She yelped as it’s thorn pierced into her skin.

She placed the injured hand inside her mouth as a familiar metallic taste filled her mouth. How could she forget roses have thorns?

Alanis will pay for this... She paused mid-air as the event of the previous night rushed back to her. Her face flushed immediately as embarrassment washed over her. She would never be able to see that man again.

"How embarrassing." She muttered, burying her face in her palm. She felt like burying herself six feet beneath but she couldn’t. How would she be able to face Alanis today? The thought alone made her heart skip.

"Stupid, you. This is exactly what he wants Harlow. You’re doing it again." She scolded herself.

At the same time, a knock was heard on the door. "Come," Harlow said for Ava to step in.

"Good morning Miss Harlow. Master Alanis said you were still sleeping and I wanted to know if you’re awake." Ava moved through the flowers on the floor as she came to stand before her young miss.

"Did you search for it last night Miss Harlow?" Harlow blushed even harder. How was she supposed to when she was forced to watch Alanis masturbate before her? She bit on her inner cheeks at her thoughts.

"No." She said. "There’s no need searching for it Ava. Tell whatever it is you saw, you know I can always count on you." She said.

"Miss Harlow, you need to look into this." Ava started. She didn’t want her words to sound like a forced allegation which is why she wanted Harlow to see it for herself.

If Harlow accuses Claudia without proof, it would lead to trouble.

"C... Can you find the document?" Ava asked.

"You said Claudia was here yesterday, which means she already has it. You can trust me, Ava. Tell me what it is?" Harlow said.

"I... I don’t know if I saw correctly, but I think Claudia is not your real sister." Ava said...
