News about the Blackwoods spread like wildfire around Halkhalls. No amount of damage control could protect Claudia and Elisa from the public’s wrath and ridicule.
Elisa’s phone buzzed non-stop, flooded with messages. People called her a gold digger, a fraud, a disgrace. They accused her of forcing Claudia onto Frank, only to run away with his wealth. The internet showed no mercy.
Claudia was no better off. One by one, her brand deals vanished. Companies rushed to cut ties, desperate to avoid the scandal. No one wanted to be associated with them. Harlow had truly ruined them this time.
"This is bad," Garth muttered, scrolling through the latest headlines. It was rare for her to care about online drama, but even she knew there was no coming back from this.
People weren’t holding back.
Failed actress...
Miserable witch...
Fake bitch...
Horrible person...
Claudia sat at home, tears streaming down her face as she read the endless insults. She never thought Harlow would go this far. Claudia and Elisa had always prided themselves on maintaining a perfect image. Seeing their names dragged through the mud was unbearable.
"What do we do?" Lia asked hesitantly. She didn’t want to be seen with them right now. The hate was overwhelming, and anyone connected to them was getting attacked too. It will be bad if the Hamilton’s get attacked too.
That means no more allowance from either Harlow or Alanis.
"Harlow has really done it this time." Elisa’s voice was sharp, filled with barely contained fury. "Arresting her is the only way we survive this."
"Arresting her?" George asked wondering how arresting Harlow would change everything happening. Arresting Harlow will only make matters worse in his opinion, at this rate, it is best they stay silent and pray the people forget about them soon.
"Yes," Elisa said firmly. "Once she’s behind bars, we’ll spin the story in our favor. We’ll say we suffered in silence for years at the hands of Frank and Harlow. We’ll claim that just when we thought we were free, Harlow paid the media to spread lies about us."
"But how will people believe us when we’re the ones arresting her?" George asked a little confused. The last thing he wanted was for them to do anything that would implicate them more.
"What are we arresting her for George?" Elisa asked.
"Trespassing..."
"Good. That is our sympathy point. She tried to harm us even after the court had settled everything." Elisa said.
Garth smirked, clapping her hands. "Brilliant."
Lia nodded slowly, the wheels in her mind turning. "Yes... it’s a solid plan. We need to act fast. We can’t let her win."
Elisa’s eyes darkened. "We won’t."
No matter what it took, they would crush Harlow.
"I’ll contact my publicist and talk to him about a few things. I’m sure he’ll help us." Claudia stated.
"Yes, do that," Elisa said. She will see to it that Harlow crumbles for attempting to end them this time.
When the next day arrived, Alanis’s soldiers had stormed into the Blackwood’s residence as early as possible. The people in the mansion were barely awake when they saw men barge into their rooms. The soldiers dragged everyone out one after another. In their hands were letters from the court stating they had permission to chase them all out.
Frank and Alanis had given them orders to arrest everyone in the mansion and send them to prison immediately.
"What are you doing!" Claudia who was still sleeping when the men barged into her room screamed at them. She had no idea what was happening. She only saw two hefty men pull her out of bed forcefully.
At some point, it felt like she was being kidnapped, but when she saw the other family members being pushed out of their rooms too, she calmed a little.
What is really going on?
Why was every bad thing happening to them all at once?
"Mother, what’s going on? I thought we owned the mansion?" Claudia turned to her mother. Even Elisa too was stunned to speak, she had argued with them showing them her papers of ownership, but they didn’t respond to her. All they did was drag her out of the room.
Harlow and Frank were truly digging their own grave to pull a stunt like this. It’s like they’re yet to realize this mansion and everything in it, no longer belonged to them. This was her mansion now, Frank had signed everything to her that day.
"Yes, who are these men?" Lia cried out. She was terrified, her entire being shaking profusely. They had all been confident that the mansion belonged to Elisa, so why are these people here?
Was Elisa not the true owner of the mansion?
"What do you all think you’re doing?" George barked at them. When Harlow gave them the papers yesterday, they all thought it was some joke. Seeing how boldly she has involved the law, George is beginning to doubt Elisa’s words.
"You don’t have a right to arrest us. This is our house." George said through gritted teeth but the soldiers handcuffed them without a word like criminals and started pushing them out of the mansion.
Elisa didn’t try to fight or argue with them. This had been her plan but Harlow was a few steps ahead again. But not to worry, once she proves this mansion and everything Frank once owned belongs to her, she would deal with Harlow so much.
"You are all under arrest for trespassing on private property. You have every right to remain silent or anything you say or do will be used against you in the court of law." One soldier said as he started pushing them out of the mansion.
"Don’t touch me," Lia yelled at the man who pushed her.
"I demand to speak to my lawyer, you can’t just arrest me. Who says we’re trespassing? This mansion belongs to Elisa." Garth struggled against them. But of course, she was no match for them.
Harlow had warned them yesterday but they wouldn’t listen, now they have to face the consequences of their actions. The soldiers pushed them into the car one after another and they were all taken to the station.
