When Harlow and Alanis reached the hospital, they were greeted by an unconscious Alex lying on the bed with a lot of machines already inserted in his heart and mouth.

Harlow couldn’t hold her tears, she broke down immediately. She had no idea what had happened. This morning Alex was fine, he had eaten and gone to school.

B... But he was above the age he could get any heart issue. Harlow had taken him to the hospital for a checkup and the doctor had said he was free. But he warned her to never let him get sad, sadness may trigger his heart condition.

Alex has not been sad lately. If anything, he has been very happy, especially with his father returning.

"What happened to him." She turned to Alanis, her eyes already so red from crying. She had experienced this before, she couldn’t lose Alex again.

Both she and Alanis had forgotten their fight earlier and we’re now both scared for their son.

"It’s alright, let me speak to the doctor and know what’s wrong with him." Alanis was about to step out of the room when the door flew open.

A man and two nurses stepped in. Harlow recognized, him, he had been Alex’s doctor since he was a child.

He was the same person that had warned her not to make him sad and that sadness may trigger his heart condition.

The same thing happened in the past, Alex had gotten a heart disease at a young age because he was always sad.

"Doctor Harlow rushed towards the man. W... What’s wrong with Alex?" She couldn’t control her subs and the man held her. But a certain someone wasn’t at all happy with the way the stupid man held his wife.

Alanis held her both her shoulders, ripping his hands from his wife’s body.

"What’s wrong with my son?" Alanis asked pulling his wife close into his embrace. Harlow’s head rested on his chest as she cried like a baby in his arms and all Alanis could do was pat her back.

"We warned your wife not to let your son get sad even for a minute. It seems Alex has gotten too sad lately and now has developed a serious heart disease." The doctor said.

"There must be some treatment for it. You can start treating him now." Alanis said.

"That’s the problem, sir. His heart has been damaged due to the number of times he has been sad. I’m afraid there’s no cure for this disease."

"I would have suggested a heart transplant, but his immune system is weak. There’s a 70% chance he might not survive it and a 30% chance he might." The doctor added.

"For now, do everything to make him happy so that he can live longer." The doctor said and left the room.

Harlow couldn’t hold her tears as they kept falling. She couldn’t lose her baby again. Not this way.

"The door opened again to Lia stepping in. In her hands was a bag of food and a few clothes for Alex to change into when he woke up.

"I just saw the doctor stepping out what did he say."

"He said terrible things," Alanis responded. "If after a week Alex does not respond to treatment or get any better, we’ll have to take him somewhere else."

Harlow finally got out of his embrace, her eyes red as she walked towards her son. Every week she took him for a checkup just to be sure he had not developed any heart disease. But for the past month, she hadn’t taken him to the hospital.

It was because Alanis had returned and she had forgotten. This is all his fault. The moment she slacked, her son was sick now.

"This is all your fault." She turned to Alanis.

"Harlow, what are you talking about?" Lia asked.

"His arrival is the reason Alex is like this." Harlow accused. "He was fine a month ago before his arrival." She said.

"Harlow think carefully before you speak. Why would..."

"Your brother is a liar Lia. He lied about everything. He never lost his memory, he lied about that too."

"I only..."

"You promised to leave once you’ve regained your memory, Alanis. I can take care of my son." She cut him off.

"I’ll leave, but after I know Alex is fi..."

"Eh eh eh eh eh eh..." Alex suddenly started shaking violently and all the trio rushed to his side.

"Alex!"

"Alex!

"Get the doctor!" Harlow screamed at Lia who quickly rushed out of the room and Alanis pushed the emergency button. In a few seconds, the doctor had rushed in with his equipment and a few nurses.

"Please leave the room." He said for Alanis, Harlow, and Lia to leave.

"No." Harlow held her lips, stopping herself from making any sound as he placed around the halls.

"You should calm down Harlow. You might get a heart attack if you continue like this." Lia said sitting on the bench there next to her brother as they waited for the doctor to be done with Alex.

Harlow didn’t listen to her sister-in-law, she kept walking around. She was more worried about her little baby fighting for his life than what Lia was saying.

"It’s all Brother Alanis’s fault that Alex is sick now." Harlow finally turned to look at her sister-in-law.

"If anything, he has been more happy after his father’s arrival. It’s partly your fault Harlow."

"What are you talking about?"

"I don’t know what happened between the two of you and I hate to get involved. But every day I keep asking myself why a love so strong and beautiful would become so bitter?"

"You’ll never understand anything, Lia." Harlow cut her off.

"I don’t care if you two don’t get along, but please don’t punish my nephew. Alex loves you two, he cannot live without the both of you."

"Every day, he asks me why you two are always fighting. All he wants is for his family to be together." Lia said.

"Can you two stop being selfish for once and focus more on Alex?" Lia rose and walked away.
