The Boss King actually disguised himself as a novice village chief?!-Chapter 51 - On the Freedom of the Divine Circle Game
51: Chapter 51 On the Freedom of the Divine Circle Game
51 -51 On the Freedom of the Divine Circle Game
Farming is definitely a niche genre in gaming.
People don’t play farming games because they genuinely want to toil away with their face towards the soil and their back to the sky.
Playing a farming game in front of a computer and clicking the mouse is one thing, but if it’s as realistic as the post-apocalyptic world of “Doomsday Magic Ring,” let’s not even talk about whether it’s tiring or not.
Besides, it can take several months just to see a harvest, which to an Undead is practically like being in jail.
However, if you add one more element to farming—being able to grow a variety of rare item materials—then it becomes completely different.
As long as the profits are high enough, well, farming is just something done on the side.

“Star Dragon Ridge” opens up farming, discussing the freedom of the Ring of Magic game]
A post about “Star Dragon Ridge” quickly rose to prominence.
In fact, among the many “Newbie Villages” in the game, Star Dragon Ridge has always maintained its position at the forefront of popularity.
With a total player count of just over 3,000 and only five days into the game’s beta test, the content experienced by players is fairly similar.
At that moment, in a certain wilderness, an Undead named “Still Stubborn” who had already donned a set of leather armor and was holding a shortsword, was resting.
He hadn’t completely shut off his senses, so he could still feel some fatigue.
He had lost an arm, but it wasn’t a big deal, especially compared to what he had obtained.
The injury was nothing in comparison.
It was a small cufflink inscribed with the symbol “——十——,” not made of pure gold, but possessing special abilities.
[Dianmi Cultist’s Cufflink (Cursed Accessory)]
[Rarity: Common (White)]
[Effect: With madness as the price, it unleashes the Mad Fire that ignites the rationality of enemies]
That was his greatest gain, capable of releasing a small cluster of blood-red flames.
Any enemy touched by it would either go insane and commit suicide or go insane and attack others, often helping him to fish in troubled waters.
Although others might have a higher level than him, no one could match the profits he was making.
With confidence, he opened the official forum that he hadn’t had the courage to check for several days.
The discussions around Star Dragon Ridge were pinned at the very top.
As a successful individual, he could finally look down proudly at the struggling small-time players in their pitiful state and then he took out his own cufflink.
Show your face!
[I am a player @Niaoniao’s Place, and I believe by now everyone has entered Newbie Village and explored for quite a while.
You should have a good understanding of the game’s background and style.
If you don’t, it’s no problem—you can check out the guide videos that some veterans have put out before.
Here’s the link: XXXXX]
[To put it simply, this game is set in a post-apocalyptic world and it’s rare that there are fewer players and more monsters, almost filled with BOSS-type characters everywhere, and the bosses are essentially unique to each other.
Just taking my experience at Star Dragon Ridge as an example: first, there’s the Carrion Queen (attachment: JPG) whom the majority have seen in videos and is also the first BOSS since the game’s launch, then there’s ‘Hyena’ Old Mande (attachment: JPG).
Our lord of Star Dragon Ridge needs no further mention, he singlehandedly took down two BOSS characters and is an absolute BOSS-level figure himself.
Moreover, today he even tamed another BOSS in his explorations (attachment: JPG)]
[But don’t think of this game as just a simple monster-hunting levelling game.
Compared to the thought-provoking background setting and gameplay of the game, monster fighting and levelling up only take up a small part.
In this game, the interactivity with NPCs is beyond your imagination!
That’s the first point about the freedom I wanted to mention.
As long as you’re in this game, you’ll find that many NPCs can be interacted with.
Although they may seem dull, they can remember and recognize you, and depending on the character, provide various feedbacks.
Those who have experience with game development would know how terrifying it is to let NPCs distinguish you from another player.]
[Interaction means you can negotiate.]
[That’s right!
Most of the NPCs in this game can be negotiated with.
I’m not clear about other places, but let’s take “Star Dragon Ridge Outpost” for example.
Our group of players received a multitude of quests there, which included tasks like repairing walls, finding food seeds, gathering information, and so on.
And then!
Here comes the interesting part!
The players who were tasked with repairing felt that their current materials were crap, so someone had the brilliant idea to use cement.
They spoke to the Lord about it, and he actually agreed to let them research it.]
[The shocker came next!
After players took off their gaming helmets, they searched online for relevant information, then brought the knowledge back into the game.
They experimented and actually succeeded in creating cement!
This means that the game’s degree of freedom applies not only to interactions with NPCs but also on a physical and logical level.]
[Also, we have a cute sister, @Romantic Bumbler, who was curious about the food in the game.
So, she chatted with the veteran Old Pete and expressed her willingness to help him taste the food for saltiness.
Many players had already tried to get quests from Old Pete but all had failed.
However, sister here succeeded in securing a quest.
And the reason might be more surprising than you’d expect; because Old Pete remembered the Lord bringing her to dinner once, he considered her a trusted person by the Lord, a notch above other players.]
[In this game, NPCs don’t treat all players equally!]
[What developed next was also quite maddening.
Sister took on a quest to grind “Mad Fire Herb” into powder (see attached Mad Fire Herb encyclopedia entry).
This Mad Fire Herb was a type of mutant plant, and consuming too much would burn you to death, which is exactly what happened to her.
Immediately, people’s imaginations ran wild, debating whether the Mad Fire Herb could be used to create projectile weapons.
It turned out that while the herb wasn’t exceedingly rare, it wasn’t something ordinary you could just find.
Right then, the Lord came by, overheard the conversation…
You couldn’t imagine what it felt like, to have an NPC listen in on your boasting.
When players lamented the scarcity of Mad Fire Herb, the Lord chimed in: “The yield of Mad Fire Herb is too low, but I could sell you some seeds if you want to farm them?” Then he pointed out a place where players could go and start cultivating the land!]
[Is this clever game design?
Impossible.
How could the developers have known when we would talk about wanting to farm and set up keyword triggers?
What if the Lord wasn’t nearby then?
That’s why I believe this game must have extremely advanced AI.
They’ve trained their models to act like real people!
They understand player conversations, can think and respond logically, and give out quests in a coherent way.
If you didn’t tell me, I would think they were real humans.]
[Another point of great freedom in Ring of Magic, @Ace Aimu, took on a quest to search for mutated food seeds and discovered a Mad Fire village, where he brought the Lord to help.
This is good news for all players, as NPCs turn into big bosses, leading you around the map!
This means if you max out the affection points with an NPC, you can either be treated differently like Miss @Romantic Bumbler with quests that are exclusive to you, or like @Ace Aimu, you can strut around with NPC big boss.
According to my research and statistics, quests in this game are largely non-repeatable; no one can take on the same quest.
So if you get a quest thanks to a high affection score, others can’t get it.]
[Back to the topic of Mad Fire village.
The villagers there are called Mad Wise Ones and they will aggressively attack outsiders.
And indeed, there is a BOSS in the village.
As I mentioned earlier, Brother Ace Aimu got slaughtered by the Mad Wise Ones.
Then he dragged the Lord there, and would you believe it, the BOSS that had been hiding all along submitted the moment it realized the Lord was a Bloodline Noble!]
[For more details, everyone can hop over to the handsome @Ace Aimu’s post, where there’s a lot more important information.
For instance, about Royal City Goliath, back when the Doomsday Magic Ring hadn’t shattered, the Nobles’ surnames could derive power from the Ring of Magic, and so on.
If you’re particular about details, you’ll love it.]
[Lastly, I’d like to mention the freedom to farm for affection points.
If you treat NPCs well and have a good temper, there’s a high chance you’ll get key information from them, including some secrets.
Each NPC has a different personality, and here’s a tip: food is definitely the most critical gift at this stage!]
That’s the end of the post.
Comments from some players soon appeared below.
Silk White Granny: [Directly burnt to death?
Hahaha, I just watched the sister’s video of eating, Romantic Bumbler is such an apt ID!]
Transient Space: [You’re here to boast, aren’t you?
I’m still smacking bandits with a hoe, and you’ve already beaten two BOSSes and tamed one.
Are we even playing the same game?]
Loyal Book Friend 10086: [Got it, I’m going to boost the affection points with the village chief’s daughter-in-law right this instant.]
World’s Innocence: [So how do I get to Star Dragon Ridge Outpost?
Over here in Newbie Village, it’s pretty rubbish.

Book Friend 20230213001438202: [So Brother De acts like Yang Guo, right?
With a unique scent under the arm, making BOSSes come close and become smitten, what a Succubus NPC!]
All Things Are But Ants: [Does anyone have a gaming pass for sale?
Paying top dollar, please~]
Looking at the bustling post, with a sneer, he thought, what’s the big deal about a BOSS?
His own gains are much better than what other players have!
Even that set of exquisite infantry armor doesn’t interest him at all.
His own is a cursed accessory, the only one in the whole game.
So he also left a comment.
Still Acting Tough: [The content is pretty interesting, but this “Star Dragon Ridge Outpost” looks quite ordinary.
