Emily’s heart was pounding so hard that she was afraid it would jump out of her chest at any given moment. Sweat trickled down her temples and landed on her shoulders as she continued to run.
After using a water attack on the rogues, she fled from that place and ended up in what looked like a forest. She used her powers to feel the presence of Kaiden and Shadow but the connection was very faint, as if they were located at the other end of the globe.
Realizing that running alone wouldn’t solve the problem, she finally came to a stop and tried to catch her breath. She stood there alone in the dark forest, surrounded by the eerie glow of moonlight filtering through the thick canopy above.
Her heart started pounding even more frantically, if possible, when anxiety got mixed with adrenaline as she sensed the presence of the rogue werewolves lurking in the shadows. She took a deep breath, focusing her mind and summoning the magical power that coursed through her veins. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
With a flick of her wrist, Emily conjured a shimmering barrier of energy around herself, a protective shield against the impending attack. The air crackled with tension as the werewolves emerged from the darkness, their feral growls echoing through the night. To chase after her, all the rogues had shifted into their wolf forms.
The first werewolf lunged forward, its claws slashing through the air with deadly precision. Emily countered with a blast of magical energy, sending the creature stumbling back with a snarl of pain. But there were more coming, their yellow eyes gleaming with anger and malice. She was their pray for the night. And while their master had ordered them not to kill her, didn’t mean they wouldn’t hurt her at all. They would do anything to tame her, except for killing her, and that... was a fate even worse than death itself.
Drawing upon the elemental forces around her, Emily unleashed a torrent of flames that engulfed her attackers in a blazing inferno. Their constant attacks took down her ward, leaving her exposed to their attacks.
As the flames subsided, Emily saw that the werewolves were not defeated. They emerged from the fire, their fur singed and smoking, but their determination unbroken. With a fierce cry, they charged once more, their claws and teeth bared for the kill.
But she was ready. After spending so much time training under Aleron, she was basically ready for any sort of physical and magical challenges. With a wave of her hand, she called upon the power of the earth, causing the ground beneath the werewolves to tremble and quake. The forest floor erupted in a shower of rocks and debris, trapping the creatures in a prison of stone and earth.
Yet there were others who kept coming for her, their savage howls echoed through the night. Emily knew she could not hold them off forever, especially if she refused to kill them. It was time for her to let go of that saint part of hers which had been always holding her back from hurting even her enemies.
She knew that living these rogues alive meant deaths of more innocent people. That thought finally gave her the determination she needed. Drawing upon the reserves of her strength, she summoned a tempest of wind and lightning, unleashing the full fury of the storm upon her enemies.
Thunder roared and lightning crackled, illuminating the forest with its blinding brilliance. The werewolves cried out in agony as bolts of electricity surged through their bodies, their forms writhing in torment. And then, with a final, deafening roar, they fell, their bodies smoldering and lifeless upon the forest floor.
Breathless, Emily sank to her knees, the adrenaline fading from her veins. But she knew her battle was far from over. She needed to return to her mates and help them in defeating the monster behind all this. She could no longer pretend that she wasn’t the very reason of the chaos and war that had taken over their world.
Standing up, she used her powers once again to teleport herself back to the building where her mates and their clans had taken shelter. She returned to the bedroom where she had been sleeping and her ears immeditely registered the loud sounds that were coming from all over the building.
She looked around the room and realized that someone had already been there as the room looked kind of a mess and the door was wide open. She hurriedly made her way out of the room and was immeditely thrown on the floor by a werewolf if not for her fast reaction. Twin daggers appeared in her hands as she realized that it was a rogue she was facing.
Bringing out her years of combat training, Emily moved her body swiftly in the confined space of the corridor as she charged at the wolf the very same moment it lunged at her with its mouth wide open and it’s teeth ready to tear her apart.
She bent her knees and slid across the floor under the wolf all the while using her daggers to attack its legs on the both sides, injuring them enough to take it down. The wolf howled in pain as it lost its balance and crashed on the floor as Emily moved at its back. Not wasting another moment, she plunged one of the daggers into his back before turning it, ending the wolf’s life within seconds.
She took a look around the building once she was done with the wolf and realized that a full-fledged war had broken out inside the building as the rogues had attacked their hideout in the middle of the night.
She recognized several of the werewolves and vampires, and she even noticed Rylan fighting more than three rogues at the same time. Realizing that her friend needed help, she wasted no time and jumped down from the railing straight into the fight.
