The Cat-Like Miss Preston: Mr. CEO begs for Reconciliation!-Chapter 120: Watch Me Shower
Chloe Preston rubbed her forehead, her pretty face scrunched up. "It hurts."
"Drama queen," Donovan Xavier said. "I barely used any strength."
"Hmph!"
Chloe Preston turned around, walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, and crossed her arms, deliberately ignoring him.
Donovan Xavier stood where he was, a doting smile in his eyes.
She’s quite cute.
Outside the window, a crescent moon hung in the sky, spilling silver light.
Donovan Xavier walked over and stood behind her. He raised a hand and pulled her back against his chest. His embrace was always warm and strong, making her feel safe.
He leaned down closer and gently blew on her forehead. "Alright, let me blow on it for you. Does it still hurt?"
Chloe Preston’s ears grew warm.
She lowered her gaze, her eyes clear, and glanced at the sweet tremella soup in his hand. "This is..."
"For you." Donovan Xavier picked up the spoon and stirred it gently. "I noticed you barely ate anything tonight. I was worried you’d get hungry, so I brought this to tide you over."
Chloe Preston took the bowl, a smile touching her lips. "I am a little hungry, actually. How thoughtful of you. Not bad."
"You’re getting better and better at this boyfriend thing. Keep it up."
Donovan Xavier’s voice was deep. "But I’ve been your boyfriend for so long, and frankly, I’m tired of it. I can’t keep this up."
Chloe put her hands on her hips, her cheeks puffing out. "Then what do you want?"
Donovan Xavier stepped closer and closer, trapping her against the cold glass of the window. He gently caught her earlobe between his lips and smiled. "I want to be your husband."
"You call me that often, but it’s never been official. I want you to become Mrs. Xavier, and soon." The thought is driving me mad, almost like an obsession.
A sweet ripple spread through Chloe Preston’s heart as her fair face blushed.
"Actually, just hearing you say that is enough. Even if you can’t marry me in this lifetime, it doesn’t matter." 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
His eyes softened with an aching tenderness. "Why is my Chloe so easy to please?"
Chloe Preston looked up at him and smiled faintly. "I haven’t finished. If you really can’t marry me in this life, then you can’t marry anyone else, either."
"Otherwise..."
"Otherwise, what will you do?" Donovan Xavier leaned in a little closer.
Chloe Preston lowered her gaze and pointed to her belly, threatening him. "Otherwise, I’ll take our kid, buy a plane ticket, and secretly go abroad where you’ll never see me again."
"I’ll find another man and have our kid call him ’Dad’."
"You dare!" Donovan Xavier bit her ear, his tone exceptionally fierce. "Chloe Preston, say one more word and I’ll get angry. The consequences will be severe."
Chloe Preston didn’t struggle. She looked directly at him. "Why wouldn’t I dare? If you ever think of marrying someone else, I’ll leave."
Donovan Xavier laughed, trapping her in his embrace, his tone both domineering and forceful. "Then rest assured, Miss Quinn. I will never give you the opportunity to leave. You’re the one I’ve chosen for this lifetime."
"You said it, so you have to mean it," Chloe Preston’s voice was as soft and gentle as a southern breeze. "But Donovan Xavier, do you think I’m being selfish?"
Always wanting to monopolize him, to claim him as her own. Wanting his heart to have room for her and her alone.
Donovan Xavier raised a hand, his warm, rough fingertip caressing her cheek. "No. It just means my Chloe cares about me, and that makes me very happy."
"My only fear is that you’ll push me away or leave me. That would break my heart."
With that, he cupped her chin with one hand, lowered his head, and kissed her on the lips.
The kiss started gently but soon became fierce and frantic. His practiced skill left her breathless. Chloe Preston’s teeth were parted, her legs gradually went weak, and a tingle spread through her heart. The bowl in her hands almost slipped and fell.
Why does he always kiss me so suddenly? It’s impossible to guard against.
Mindful of her pregnancy, Donovan didn’t go too far. He restrained himself and slowly let her go.
"If it weren’t for this little one in your belly, I definitely wouldn’t let you go tonight."
Chloe Preston panted, her face flushed. She looked out the window, calming the frantic pounding of her heart.
She took a sip of the sweet tremella soup. It tasted wonderful.
Donovan Xavier said nothing, the corner of his lip raised in a slight smile as he hugged her from behind. "This is nice."
"Hmm?"
Donovan rested his chin on her head and nuzzled her gently, his voice deep. "These peaceful times, with you by my side... I’m already perfectly content."
If I could ask for anything more, it would only be to have more time with her. A little more, and then a little more.
Chloe Preston’s mind suddenly flashed to those anonymous text messages. She tightened her grip on the spoon and said, "But I’m afraid fate has other plans... that you and I..."
Before she could finish, Donovan Xavier frowned and gently flicked her forehead again. "Stop saying such unlucky things."
Chloe Preston nudged him twice with her elbow. "It’s late. I put clean clothes in the bathroom for you. Hurry up and take a shower."
Donovan Xavier teased her deliberately. "Together?"
"I’ve already showered."
"You can watch me."
Chloe Preston tapped the edge of the bowl with her spoon. "No way, I’m eating."
Donovan Xavier tugged at his tie with one hand, his sexy Adam’s apple bobbed, and his gaze was invasive. "Why would that be a problem?"
"You can eat while you watch me shower."
"Baby, don’t say no."
Chloe Preston was speechless.
"Hurry up and go!" Her cheeks flushed slightly. She put down the bowl and pushed him toward the bathroom with both hands.
Donovan Xavier stood tall and straight, a lazy smile on his face. "Alright, I’m going. Are you sure you won’t join me?"
"I’m sure."
"Heartless woman."
Chloe Preston was speechless again.
The door wasn’t shut tightly, leaving a thin crack.
Outside, Rosalind Rowan leaned against the cold wall, having overheard every word of their conversation. Her eyes were red with undisguised jealousy. Her nails dug into her palm, drawing blood, the pain sharp and fierce.
The next moment, she turned and walked away, her aura sinister and cold.

「The next morning.」
In the main hall, Donovan Xavier sat at the table, accompanying Chloe for breakfast. He effortlessly served her a bowl of porridge, then piled food onto her plate until it formed a small mountain.
Chloe Preston patted his arm. "Shouldn’t we wait? Grandma hasn’t come down yet."
Housekeeper Wyatt spoke respectfully from the side. "Miss Quinn, the Old Madam doesn’t usually care for breakfast, so you needn’t worry."
Then, she retrieved a sandalwood box from nearby and handed it to her.
"Miss Quinn, this is a welcome gift from the Old Madam."
"What is it?" Chloe Preston paused.
"Open it and you’ll see," Housekeeper Wyatt replied.
Donovan Xavier took it for her and opened it.
Inside the box lay an emerald brooch. It was estimated to be over a hundred carats, with exceptional color and clarity. It was exquisite, and worth at least a hundred million.
Donovan Xavier took it in and smiled faintly. "If I remember correctly, this was a gift from Great-Grandmother to Grandma."
Housekeeper Wyatt smiled. "Young Master has a good memory. The Old Madam is very fond of this brooch. She rarely ever takes it out to wear it."
Donovan Xavier frowned. "Is she really giving this to Chloe?"
Housekeeper Wyatt nodded.
Donovan Xavier smiled, picked up the brooch, and went to pin it on her clothes.
Chloe Preston stopped him. "I can’t accept this. Your Great-Grandmother gave it to your Grandma. It’s too precious."
"It’s alright. I know her. Once she decides to give you something, she won’t take it back."
"Chloe, she likes you as her granddaughter-in-law."
With a gentle smile, Housekeeper Wyatt spoke again. "Young Master, the Old Madam said you two can head back after you finish eating. As for the Xavier family, she said you have nothing to worry about."
Upstairs.
Rosalind Rowan, dressed in a vintage little black dress, had been quietly listening to their words, clenching her jaw so tight it ached.
Housekeeper Wyatt looked up. "Miss Rowan!"
Hearing the name, Chloe Preston turned to look.
Their eyes met.
Chloe Preston’s hands tightened, and she instinctively flinched.
The woman seemed to be glaring at her, her eyes filled with killing intent.
Rosalind Rowan said nothing. She walked down the stairs, shot the man a misty-eyed glance, and then ran straight outside.
Housekeeper Wyatt muttered to herself, "What on earth is wrong with her?"
Donovan Xavier paid her no mind, continuing to put food on Chloe’s plate. His voice was low and tender. "Eat a little more. When we get back to Kryton, I’ll take you to the old estate."
