The Celibate Tycoon Has Fallen-Chapter 136: Did You Get Too Wild with Someone Else?
The year-end is approaching, and Yelena Hughes found herself with some free time. She waited at the entrance of the mall for a while before seeing Madeline Forest waving as she ran over.
"Yelena."
Yelena Hughes waved back, "Finally, you’re here."
Madeline looked as though she hadn’t slept well, "The guests in the private room partied too late last night. I slept half the day today, and my eyes still hurt."
"Madeline, this job is too exhausting. Have you thought about changing it?"
Madeline wasn’t afraid of the hard work, only of not making enough money. As soon as she saw Yelena Hughes, she wanted to cling to her, holding on tight as they walked together.
"You are my beautiful sister who cleared my million-dollar debt, and I’ll dedicate my life to you. I’ll be your little gigolo in my next life."
"You, always learning the wrong things."
Yelena Hughes was almost unable to walk with Madeline hanging on her. "How about barbecue for lunch?"
"Sure."
The two wandered around the mall for a bit, and when Madeline saw the Chanel store, she couldn’t resist the temptation and dragged Yelena Hughes inside for a look.
It wasn’t about vanity; Madeline just wanted to look. She stood by the shelf, pointing to one of the bags.
"I’ve had my eye on it for a long time."
The price tag read over thirty thousand.
Yelena Hughes teased her, "Do you have to grind your teeth to buy one?"
"Yelena, I’m really goal-oriented, truly," Madeline wrapped her arms tightly around Yelena’s arm, raising a hand, "Once I save up five hundred thousand in my account, I’ll reward myself with one."
Likes are likes, but reality is reality.
Yelena Hughes smiled slightly, "That’s more like it."
"The bag they’re looking at, I want it."
Yelena Hughes heard the voice and turned to see Nancy Alden standing behind them, leaning on an exquisite cane; she could stand up now.
The sales assistant came over and took the bag in her hand, "Miss Alden, is it this one?"
"Yes."
Yelena Hughes had come in just to browse aimlessly, so even if Nancy bought the entire store today, she wouldn’t feel embarrassed.
"Madeline, let’s go."
"Miss Hughes, please wait a moment." Nancy Alden moved toward Yelena Hughes with her cane, having rid herself of the wheelchair in such a short time; it seemed the treatment was effective.
"Is something the matter?" Yelena Hughes said coldly.
Nancy Alden pulled out a card from her bag and handed it to the sales assistant, "Those few items I picked earlier, I’d like those too. This is Jasper’s auxiliary card."
"Yes, Miss Alden."
"Why not sit for a bit?" Nancy Alden offered.
But Yelena Hughes didn’t see the necessity, "We have things to do."
Seeing her about to leave, Nancy took a step forward, "Yelena Hughes, I will soon be Mrs. Yale. Even if Jasper is somewhat interested in you now, once I become the rightful Young Madam of the Yale Family, what will you be?"
Yelena Hughes’s path was blocked by Nancy, and she lifted her chin slightly.
"At that time, not only will Jasper be my support, the whole Yale Family will back me up. Right now, if I can tolerate you, I will, but maybe after the new year, we’ll be getting married."
Madeline stepped up to speak for Yelena Hughes, "Let’s wait until you marry first."
Yelena Hughes grasped her wrist, pulling her back, "Miss Alden is right. Once you become Mrs. Yale, I’ll be in trouble."
"Yes, I’m keeping a tally of every account."
Nancy Alden didn’t make it difficult for the two. After Josephine’s incident, she had cried for two days straight, neither eating nor drinking.
Jasper merely had someone deliver every meal to her room, but whether she ate or not, he didn’t care.
From that moment, she understood that instead of focusing on dealing with Yelena Hughes, she might as well marry into the Yale Family sooner and secure her position as Mrs. Yale first.
After leaving the store, Yelena Hughes appeared somewhat gloomy, taking Nancy Alden’s words to heart.
The next day.
At the venue, Dean Holloway had set up the equipment, and dozens of media outlets had gathered; this was the largest event near the year’s end.
Yelena Hughes was there, touching up her lipstick in the restroom mirror. She was about to leave when she noticed a figure approaching.
She put away her lipstick and moved to leave but was stopped by Shawn Thorne, "Where are you rushing off to?" 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
"I have work."
"You’re going out like that?"
"What? Is something wrong?"
Shawn Thorne tried to maintain a gentlemanly appearance, staring directly ahead at Yelena Hughes, pointing to her front.
"You’re missing a button."
Yelena Hughes was about to call him a pervert when she looked down and saw that somehow her shirt button had come undone, revealing glimpses of the black lace underneath.
She quickly covered it with her hand.
Yelena Hughes looked around but couldn’t find the button anywhere.
"You should change into something else."
"No time."
Shawn Thorne took off a tie clip and handed it over, "Use this."
Yelena Hughes hesitated but realized it was the only solution for now. She thanked him and used it to awkwardly hold her open shirt together.
The attendees tonight were all big shots; none could be offended.
Some were easy to talk to and had agreed earlier to be interviewed, but others were only making an appearance, like Jasper Yale.
Returning from the restroom, Yelena Hughes’s figure caught the attention of a man.
He saw her moving quickly, her hair flowing in the wind, but Shawn Thorne was surprisingly following behind her.
Yelena Hughes returned to Dean Holloway’s side, just exchanging a few words when a leader briskly approached her.
"Get ready for an impromptu interview."
"Impromptu? Who’s so important?" Yelena Hughes wasn’t a fan of such surprises, "Who?"
"Jasper Yale."
Her lips parted slightly, no wonder. "I don’t have time; let someone else do it."
"That’s not an option. He specifically requested you, and it’s rare for him to agree to an interview."
Yelena Hughes genuinely wanted to refuse, but Dean Holloway nudged her, "Consider it; he asked for you by name."
When she went looking for Jasper Yale, he was nowhere in sight. Fortunately, Hailey Jenkins timely appeared. "Miss Hughes, sir is in the lounge."
Yelena Hughes followed Hailey Jenkins to the lounge, finding Jasper sitting on the couch.
Hailey Jenkins politely invited her in before closing the door.
"Sir, didn’t expect to see you here."
Jasper had one leg crossed, his arm on the couch’s armrest, looking completely at ease, "Seems like you had hoped not to see me?"
"Why would I?"
Yelena Hughes sat down beside him, and Jasper immediately noticed the tie clip on her chest.
It was a man’s item.
His expression suddenly darkened, reaching out to grab it. Yelena Hughes quickly tried to cover it, "Sir, don’t misunderstand."
But Jasper had already seized the tie clip, yanking it away and shaking off Yelena’s hand.
The gap where her button had popped opened again, and Jasper examined the tie clip, noticing the character "Shawn" engraved on it.
His voice was laced with chill, "Were you playing so roughly with someone that your button got torn off?"
