Chapter 25: Chapter 25: You Pity Her, Don’t You?

Yelena Hughes didn’t pause and walked out several steps.

"Then I’ll have Felix Wood visit your home, let your little sister feel what true fear is."

Yelena’s pinky finger no longer hurt, but the back of her hand was throbbing.

"Sir, I was wrong, thank you for protecting my family."

Jasper Yale got down from the bed, the night breeze squeezed in through the window, brushing against his skin with a fine dampness. He approached Yelena, "Quite a temper, weren’t you always trying to curry favor with me before? What now, giving up the act?"

"Everyone has dignity. I begged you because I was afraid of dying. But since you won’t help, I don’t need to beg you anymore."

This woman is quite realistic.

"You’re ungrateful. I was the one who pulled you from Felix Wood’s jaws last night."

Yelena lowered her head, avoiding his gaze.

If he was still going to save her, why did he have to watch her suffer with such indifference?

Watching her fall deeper into despair, did it gratify him?

Jasper turned her shoulders, making her back face him, then hooked her neck and pulled her into his embrace.

The more Yelena tried to move, the tighter he held her.

"Just the recording alone won’t get Felix Wood convicted, you need solid evidence."

"I know, the police will investigate."

Jasper pressed his thumb on her protruding collarbone, kneading and playing with it, "As long as Felix is out there, you won’t have peace. I’ll help you and put him away now."

"What’s the condition?"

"For calling me ’daddy’ all night, it’s free."

Yelena immediately turned her head, their proximity so close her lips brushed Jasper, she quickly turned away again.

Such intimate actions made her uncomfortable.

Especially with the man behind her undressed, his bare chest against her back, her skin felt like it was burning. "Sir, can I ask you a question?"

"Ask."

"What happened to me afterwards? Why did you take me away?"

Jasper gazed at the side of her face. "You suddenly went mad, hitting and biting, throwing yourself into my arms. You said if I didn’t save you, you’d strip naked right there."

Yelena found that hard to believe.

"Then you should’ve let me strip, why..."

Jasper released his grip, his voice cold as ice, "Do you have any shame?"

This man was truly unpredictable, Yelena watched him walk to the door. As soon as he opened it, he urged her, "Leaving or not?"

Yelena waited downstairs, and after Jasper dressed, they got into the car together.

"Sir, should we take Miss Hughes directly to her company?"

Yelena was about to say yes, but Jasper’s voice came from beside her, "Head to The Summit Gardens, drop her off somewhere along the way."

Hailey Jenkins acknowledged, fastened her seatbelt.

What a jerk, Yelena was thinking, but then heard the man next to her speak again.

"Give her all the information you’ve gathered."

Hailey looked at Yelena who seemed puzzled, "Congratulations, Miss Hughes, Felix Wood won’t trouble you anymore."

Otherwise, there was always a ticking time bomb around her.

Yelena’s expression changed rapidly, her voice softened, "Thank you, sir."

He liked it when she spoke to him in such a sweet tone, Jasper’s lips curved slightly, "Truly an opportunist."

"Whatever sir says goes."

Jasper seemed in a good mood, but that didn’t stop him from dropping Yelena off halfway.

The Summit Gardens.

Nancy Alden had just gotten up, having not slept well all night, she looked even more haggard.

Josephine glanced out the window, "The Sir is back."

Seeing Nancy’s listless demeanor, "Miss, cheer up, don’t be like this."

Jasper’s footsteps were loud as he headed upstairs, quickly entering Nancy’s room, "Awake? I thought you’d sleep a little longer."

Nancy couldn’t fake a smile, "Weren’t you going to Seridia?"

"It was canceled at the last minute, I’m back to keep you company."

Jasper bent down next to her wheelchair, "What do you feel like eating this morning?"

Nancy’s face tightened, "Jasper, did you fulfill what you promised me?"

"What promise?"

"I asked you not to get involved with Yelena Hughes." Nancy ignored Josephine’s look, she had to voice it.

"Who told you I was involved with her?"

"A friend saw you playing the hero at The Sovereign Club last night."

Jasper leaned on the wheelchair, collar slightly open, "If I hadn’t intervened last night, she might’ve died there."

"So you had a moment of kindness?"

It was the first time Jasper faced this directly, "Felix Wood killed a family of three, that’s an undeniable fact. I agree with Yelena’s actions, I think she’s right."

Nancy gripped her hands, "Did you spend the night with her last night?"

"She was drugged by Felix, I called a doctor for her."

The anger inside Nancy burned, tearing away her last shreds of reason. "What kind of drug? One to make sure you ended up in bed together?"

Jasper’s expression darkened, standing up straight.

Josephine hurried over to take Nancy’s hand, as Hailey Jenkins stepped forward to explain, "Miss Alden, I was there last night too, the Sir really did..."

Nancy grabbed a cup from Josephine and smashed it onto Hailey’s forehead with a bang.

"You’re his dog, of course, you’ll speak up for him."

Jasper’s tall figure loomed over Nancy, intimidating, "You can’t listen to anyone right now, take some time to calm down."

He left her there, Nancy was stunned until she realized, then turned to Josephine with a tearful face.

"Has he been bewitched by that woman?"

Who knows, Yelena did have a knack for exhausting men.

Hailey delivered the documents to Yelena, sporting a large bump on his forehead.

Yelena couldn’t help but ask, "What happened to you?"

"It’s because of you."

"Me?"

Hailey’s head was about to burst from pain these days, "Miss Alden is upset with the Sir, so I became the punching bag."

"Oh, was the Sir badly beaten?"

Hailey looked at her like she was crazy, "Who would dare touch him? Not even Miss Alden."

Yelena understood, the man was arrogant.

Upon returning to the company, the first thing she did was report to the police, and the second was to hurry and publish the story.

Felix Wood was quickly arrested, Yelena stayed up until midnight, watching the police take Felix Wood, handcuffed, from his home.

She rushed forward with a microphone, "Were you directly involved in the forced demolitions at Bracken Village, or did you order others?"

"Heaven has a long arm, aren’t you afraid?"

The news broadcast was live, Jasper watched that constantly bouncing figure on the screen.

Yelena’s microphone was almost poking Felix’s mouth, his face couldn’t have looked worse.

Jasper murmured softly, "Pretending to be tough by riding on others’ power."
