The Celibate Tycoon Has Fallen-Chapter 24: I Want a Patron Too
He thought Yelena Hughes would say something outrageous, but unexpectedly, she was quite clear-headed this time.
Yelena Hughes shook her head, "I won’t eat."
"It’s sweet."
"I don’t eat sweet things either," Yelena’s eyes were still moist, "I’ve long passed the age where a piece of candy could cheer me up, don’t always treat me like a child."
Hailey Jenkins stood at the door without coming in, Jasper Yale was about to go over when Yelena Hughes grabbed the hem of his clothes.
"Where are you going again?" There was a hint of accusation in her voice.
"I’ll be back soon."
Jasper walked outside, Hailey Jenkins handed over the phone, "Miss Alden made several calls."
"I’ll go back later." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
"Young master, from what Felix Wood said, he seems to know something. At least, he knows you won’t interfere with the Hughes Family affairs, which is why he’s acting so recklessly."
Jasper’s voice was slightly cold, "Are you trying to say this is related to Nancy?"
Hailey Jenkins dared not delve deeper, as in the master’s eyes, Nancy Alden’s actions were always justified, even if she set something on fire today, it was because it deserved to burn.
Jasper’s deep, tranquil gaze showed no ripple, "Don’t doubt her, Nancy has been bedridden for a year, feeling worse than death, she wouldn’t have the mind to harm others."
"Young master, I haven’t, and dare not."
"Dad—" someone in the room cautiously called towards the door.
Jasper wanted to vent, yet somehow held back.
He turned around, placing a hand on the doorknob, "Tell Nancy that I’m heading to Seridia early tomorrow, I won’t be back at The Summit Gardens tonight."
"Huh?" Asking him to say that doesn’t seem right?
Jasper had already closed the door, Yelena Hughes laid on the bed, not as delirious as Aaron Payne claimed, but rather in a muddled state.
"Why are you shouting?" Jasper sat down by the bed.
Yelena curled up against him like a pet dog, resting her head on Jasper’s leg, "Dad, can’t you stay?"
She clutched his trouser leg, all her grievances pouring out in an instant.
"Did I really do wrong? But I didn’t exaggerate or distort the truth."
Yelena’s tears fell onto the man’s leg, scorching hot, like a basin of boiling water.
"I just think... if Felix Wood gets away this time, he’ll feel he can do bad things without consequence. He’ll become even more brazen in making money, even more brazen in buying people’s lives with money."
Yelena wiped her face, "Someday, the bystanders will become victims too, and I just feel I wasn’t wrong."
Jasper flipped through Yelena’s journalist ID hanging from her neck, a simple photo was attached, her complexion fair, smiling sweetly.
"No one said you did wrong."
"But if I die, many would just say I was overreaching."
Yelena snuggled closer, her forehead nearly touching Jasper’s abdomen, her breath warm and searing as she spoke.
Jasper looked down, the gesture too suggestive.
He wished he could press her head down hard.
Jasper glanced at her heaving chest, reached out to undo her buttons, Yelena looked startled, clutching her chest, about to speak.
Jasper covered her mouth, lest a word of "dad" from her wouldn’t leave him with any thought.
"Don’t shout." Who wants to be her dad!
Yelena Hughes’s lips trembled slightly, Jasper saw her expression and any burning flame in him was doused.
He removed Yelena’s journalist ID and placed it on the bedside cabinet, "Stick to what you believe is right."
"Really?"
"Yes."
Regarding Felix Wood’s matter, she wasn’t wrong. Her subsequent desire for his help was even more justified.
The Summit Gardens.
Nancy Alden moved the phone away from her ear, Jasper Yale wasn’t coming home tonight.
She raised her hand, about to smash the phone when someone gently grasped her wrist, "Miss, stay calm, this doesn’t solve the problem."
"Josephine, Jasper took Yelena Hughes away, and he lied to me!"
"But you can’t fall out with the young master, you rely on him now."
Nancy clenched her teeth, "But I can’t just watch that vixen seduce him."
"Impossible, your relationship with the young master can’t be intervened by her."
Josephine used to be with the Alden Family, and since Nancy’s accident, she had been taking care of her. She gently patted Nancy’s shoulder to comfort her, "As long as the young master stands by you, she poses no threat."
"But when my photos were leaked, Jasper didn’t pursue her."
"He did pursue it. The photos weren’t released, that woman got slapped by you, her colleague got his head smashed. If the young master cared for her, could she suffer such grievances?"
Nancy thought about it, and was finally somewhat relieved.
Yelena Hughes, much like someone who blacks out after drinking, had blurry memories upon waking the next day.
Her hand touched the warm skin beside her.
The first person to come to mind was Felix Wood, and disgust arose in her heart, Yelena dared not look at that ugly face beside her.
She lifted the blanket, thankfully, her clothes were intact. Yelena Hughes glanced from the corner of her eye, the man beside her wearing only underwear, with long legs and abs.
So it couldn’t possibly be Felix Wood.
Yelena Hughes’s gaze slowly moved up, Jasper Yale was still sleeping, and his features were indescribably handsome.
She was about to get out of bed when her hand was gripped.
"Sleep a bit longer."
Yelena Hughes forcefully broke free, "No need."
Jasper opened his eyes, displeased, he hadn’t slept well last night, disturbed for most of the night.
He forcefully pulled, and Yelena Hughes’s small frame fell directly onto the bed. Jasper turned her over, grabbing her shoulders, "Awake now? Know how to burn bridges?"
In Yelena’s eyes, he was only untrustworthy.
She forgot what happened after leaving the booth, but suddenly realized, if Felix Wood didn’t succeed last night, would he vent his anger on her family?
Yelena struggled hard, "Let go, let me go!"
But Jasper’s grip was strong, she was frantic enough to want to kick him, "My mom... my sister, something must have happened, I need to go back."
Seeing her eyes redden again, Jasper said, "They’re fine."
"I don’t believe you."
Yelena didn’t believe a word he said, "I need to call home."
"I’ll ensure their safety, Felix Wood wouldn’t dare touch them."
Yelena’s eyes showed no gratitude, only stillness, she said word by word, "I don’t believe you, I need to call."
Jasper let go, stubborn women were truly irritating.
"Call then."
Yelena immediately got up, called her family, and only after confirming nothing had happened, did she feel at ease.
She saw the bruises on the back of her hand from Felix Wood’s kick, looking like it might bleed.
"Do you believe now?"
Yelena’s lips curled into a cold smile, "That’s just Felix Wood being merciful, not dragging my family into this."
After speaking, she prepared to leave, Jasper’s voice ice-cold and piercing, "Stop!"
