The CEO's Wife Is a Medical Master-Chapter 109: I Want to Kiss You
"What’s wrong with that?" Nathaniel Nathan asked, a hint of anger in his voice.
Vera Xavier thought for a moment before replying, "She does call me her sister, after all."
"But she’s never been your sister," Nathaniel Nathan stated bluntly. "I’ve never met a girl as thick-skinned as her."
In fact, he had seen Cara Preston several times recently, always on his usual route home. She had tried every trick in the book to get his attention, and he was completely fed up with her.
Vera Xavier chuckled lightly, and Nathaniel Nathan added, "She’s not a good person. Stay away from her."
’Actually, I heard Nathaniel say the same thing in my past life,’ Vera thought. ’But back then, I was very close with Cara Preston and was terrified of him, so I never listened to what he said.’
She said softly, "Okay, I’ll listen to you."
At her words, the anger that had just flared up in Nathaniel instantly vanished without a trace. He looked at her and said, "Vera Xavier, I want to kiss you right now."
Vera Xavier froze for a second. But he had already pulled the car to the side of the road, braking sharply, and leaned over to press his lips against hers.
’My mind went blank. Seriously, Young Master Nathan? You’re so impulsive! You can’t just kiss someone whenever you feel like it!’
Nathaniel Nathan knew they were on the side of a public road with people coming and going. It wasn’t a good place for intimacy.
So, he quickly pulled away and started driving again. "Vera Xavier, let’s announce our marriage after you graduate high school."
Looking at his frosty expression, Vera was filled with a swirl of emotions. ’He’s talking about marriage with such a cold look on his face. The contrast is immense, yet it has this stoic allure... it’s almost more captivating this way.’
Vera Xavier cleared her throat lightly. "At the very least, we’d need your parents’ approval for something like that. Besides, I’m still in school."
She was stating objective facts, so no matter how displeased Nathaniel was, there wasn’t much more he could say.
So he said simply, "My parents are in Veridia. Get into Veridia University."
’He sure has a lot of faith in me,’ Vera thought. ’Only one or two people from all of Crestfall get into Veridia University each year, and he just drops its name so casually. It’s my goal too, but the pressure is immense.’
"What? You’re not willing?" Nathaniel Nathan asked.
Vera said seriously, "No, that’s not it. I’m just wondering what gives you so much confidence in me."
"The girl I’ve set my sights on can’t be anything but exceptional," Nathaniel replied.
Vera Xavier smiled. "I’ll do my best. But, Nathaniel, can I offer a suggestion?"
Nathaniel turned to glance at her. "Speak."
Vera’s eyes darted around playfully. "Before I offer my suggestion... can I kiss you?"
This time, it was Nathaniel’s turn to freeze. He wondered if he’d misheard, but Vera had already leaned over and planted a kiss on his cheek.
Nathaniel hadn’t expected her to just go for it. His hand jerked, and the car nearly swerved into a flowerbed.
Seeing his reaction, Vera let out a mischievous laugh. "Can you focus on the road? With driving skills like that, I don’t think I’ll dare get in a car with you again."
’Having dealt with him a few times since my rebirth, I’m beginning to understand that his calm and domineering exterior is just an act. Most of the time, he’s nowhere near as composed as he appears on the surface.’
’For instance, after I just kissed him, his face didn’t flush, but the tips of his ears were so red they looked like they might bleed.’
Nathaniel took a deep breath. "Don’t worry. Something like that won’t happen again."
