The Classmate Who Is Adored by Everyone Smiles Teasingly Only at Me-Chapter 1Volume 3 . - November Sun
November Sun
Halloween had ended, and a few days had passed since the start of November.
Autumn was deepening little by little, and the time of sunset was getting earlier day by day. By around four-thirty, as indicated by the clock hands, the sky would lose its orange hue, and the curtain of night would begin to spread slowly.
The corridors after school in late autumn, devoid of people, felt chillingly cold and somewhat lonely to walk through alone, naturally quickening one’s pace.
“Hmm…? The classroom is still lit up.”
After finishing his errands, Sōma burst into Classroom 1-4 to find the lights still blazing brightly.
“Ah, it’s Ichinose.”
As he entered, one of the girls from a group munching on snacks like squirrels called out to him.
Turning to face her, she waved a hand holding a cookie in greeting.
“Wakui, you’re still at school?”
“We just love school so much.”
“Big liars.”
He replied with a wry smile to her brazen statement.
“You’re just using it as a hangout spot that doesn’t cost any money.”
“Well, I guess that’s one of the reasons.”
The girl in the disheveled uniform—Wakui—shrugged lightly, readily admitting to Sōma’s point.
“Ichinose, It’s rare for you to be staying at school this late, isn’t it?”
“Is it?”
He asked back while sorting through his textbooks to decide which to take home and which to leave for studying at school, only to be met with a look from Wakui as if to say, what’s this guy talking about?
“Lately, as soon as the bell rings for the end of the sixth period, you bolt out of here. Is there a snack time sale at the nearby supermarket or something?”
“If there was, I’d definitely want you to tell me about it.”
He said seriously, which only made her laugh.
“Ichinose, you’re so consistent. Well, it’s very much Ichinose-like though.”
“Are you making fun of me?”
Deciding to leave all but his English textbooks at school, he grabbed his bag, which now contained only two books.
“I’m not making fun at all.I actually think you’re pretty amazing, Ichinose.”
“That sounds so insincere.”
“No, seriously, I mean it.”
Wakui’s desperate denial caused the other girls in the circle to start giggling for some reason, and then they beckoned him over.
“Come join us, Ichinose. Let’s hang out at school for a change.”
“No, I’m good.”
Given his role involving taste-testing snacks, Sōma did interact with girls more than other boys.
However, that didn’t mean he was comfortable enough, or had the nerve, to just join a group of girls for no reason.
As he hesitated, the girls shook a box of snacks at him.
“We’ve got lots of new snacks that just came out this month.”
“…Well, since you insist, maybe just for a bit.”
Lured by the snacks, he found himself drifting into the circle of girls.
“Ichinose, take a seat here.”
One of the girls brought over a chair and placed it next to Wakui.
“Next to me!?”
“If you don’t like it, I can move.”
“No, I didn’t say I didn’t like it. Go ahead, sit down.”
As he was about to sit next to the somewhat nervous Wakui, he suddenly stopped.
“What’s wrong?”
Feeling his gaze, Wakui looked up while clutching a cookie.
“No, I just thought your hair was golden, but it’s gotten quite dark.”
“Oh, my hair?”
Understanding the meaning behind his gaze, Wakui frowned slightly.
Her short hair had been dyed a beautiful gold from root to tip last month, but now, looking at it again, the top of her head had turned quite dark.
Wakui, looking bored, pinched a strand of her hair and said,
“I’ve been broke lately. I haven’t been able to go to the hair salon at all.”
“Is coloring expensive?”
“It depends on the salon. If you want to save money, you could dye it yourself, but it never turns out even, and I don’t like that.”
“Fashion is tough, huh?”
Sōma, who had never dyed his hair, didn’t quite grasp the concept, but he understood that it involved various hardships.
“Of course it’s incredibly tough. That’s why I’m jealous of Chika. Her brown hair is natural, right?”
“Huh, really? That’s news to me.”
Chika’s name came up unexpectedly, and he felt a jolt of surprise.
While hiding his discomposure, he nodded along.
“So just wait a bit longer. I’ll make sure it doesn’t look bad by next week.”
Wakui said that, apparently not satisfied with her current hair.
However, Sōma didn’t think her hair looked bad at all.
“I think it’s fine as it is.”
“Ah? …Really!?”
His casual comment surprised Wakui, and she stopped fiddling with her hair.
“Ichinose, you like this kind of thing? You don’t think it’s sloppy?”
“No, I think it’s fine.”
“I-I see, so you think it’s fine… Maybe I don’t need to rush to re-dye it then.”
As Sōma nodded firmly, Wakui blushed and smiled happily.
“Your current hair, Wakui, looks tasty like a pudding. There’s no need to rush to re-dye it.”
“…Pudding?”
Wakui froze.
The term “pudding head” is colloquially used to describe hair that has been colored but where the roots have grown out, making the top of the head black.

Indeed, her hair now resembled a pudding generously topped with caramel sauce.
“I think the ratio of pudding to caramel sauce is just perfect.”
Looking at Wakui’s hair while tilting his head in contemplation, he couldn’t help but think like that.
“C-caramel sauce…!?”
Wakui, having her hair compared to a dessert, was at a loss for words.
“That’s right, can I take a picture of your head? I want to use it as a reference when I make pudding next time.”
“Like hell I’d let you, you idiot!”
Sōma, who had taken out his smartphone, gets a solid jab to his side.
