The Dark Extra: Awakening of SSS-Skill Demon Emperor Legacy-Chapter 84: The Backlash Thread of Fate
Chapter 84: The Backlash Thread of Fate
Leon and Anna fell silent. There was nothing they could do except watch what Cassandra was about to do.
The red threads from Cassandra’s red magic circle entered Agares’s forehead. Cassandra’s eyes were shut, yet she could see everything that had happened to him—everything.
"What’s going on?" asked Anna.
"I don’t know. I didn’t know Cassy could use magic like this."
Cassandra could speed up or slow down the memory record from Agares’s mind.
The woman looked shocked, stunned, unable to believe what she was seeing.
The Thread of Fate wouldn’t lie to her. What she saw was the absolute truth.
’Why have you gone through so much difficulty?’ Cassandra asked inwardly.
She saw the moment Agares was hunted by Caer Vireth’s palace forces, and then the moment he met Priestess Ara—a moment so touching it broke her.
Unexpectedly, her tears began to fall on their own as she watched. She couldn’t control it with her mind—those tears fell from her heart.
"Ara?" whispered Cassandra, loud enough for Leon and Anna to hear.
"What’s happening?"
Just as Leon was about to reach out to touch Cassandra’s hand out of concern, Silva moved swiftly from where she was hiding to stand near Leon.
She arrived in a flash of golden light and gripped his hand, startling him.
"You? What are you doing?" asked Leon.
"I came to see him. Don’t touch her. The Thread of Fate must not be interrupted until the spell is finished," Silva explained.
"And what would happen if they’re disturbed?"
"Both of them would fall unconscious for days."
Silva summoned her magic staff and struck it against the ground, creating a golden protective dome that hid their presence.
People in the city wouldn’t be able to see them now—thanks to Silva’s magic.
"At the very least, this should help them."
"What should we do?"
"Wait!" Silva said firmly.
Leon nodded. Anna did the same. Neither of them were mages, so their best option was to follow Silva’s instructions.
In Cassandra’s subconscious realm, she saw Agares’s journey from the Red Line to the cities. Then, she saw the moment he arrived at Faircallen Village.
It turned out—it wasn’t Agares who destroyed the village. It was someone else.
When Agares arrived, the village was already burning, and the corpses of villagers lay rotting, devoured by crows.
’It wasn’t Agares? Then who?’ Cassandra wondered.
She couldn’t hide her grief when she saw the moment Agares stood before three crosses and one gallows. One of the crosses had nailed Ara to it, naked and horribly wounded.
"ARAA!" Cassandra screamed, startling Leon.
"This can’t be allowed!" Leon declared.
Ignoring Silva’s warning, he grabbed Cassandra’s shoulder, breaking the Thread of Fate spell. Silva tried to stop him but failed.
"Wait! Don’t you—"
BLAST!
An explosion erupted between them, pushing both Agares and Cassandra backward, crashing into the golden dome’s wall.
Leon tried to wake Cassandra, but she was unconscious, unresponsive. Silva rushed to Agares, checking on him.
But there was nothing they could do. Agares and Cassandra lay unconscious, trapped by the backlash of the Thread of Fate. No one knew when they would awaken.
"You idiot!" Silva shouted.
"I told you not to interfere!"
"I didn’t know it would be this bad," Leon said, full of regret.
"I’m a mage. I know more than you do!" Silva snapped, harsh.
Silva dispelled the golden protective dome, revealing them again on the city’s main road. She desperately tried to heal Agares using her magic, but it was no use.
Only time would recover them now. All because of Leon’s reckless concern for Cassandra.
"You take care of her, I’ll handle Agares."
Silva carried Agares using her magic toward the inn’s room. But after only a few steps, she stopped when a woman called her name from behind.
The voice was familiar.
"He won’t be staying with you," said Milenia, arriving with two male guards.
Silva turned, her gaze sharp toward Milenia. She was surprised Milenia had arrived so quickly after the incident. Milenia smiled faintly, amused by Silva’s reaction.
Milenia raised her hand to shoulder height, revealing a crystal orb floating above the main street. Silva instantly recognized it and its function.
"You’ve been spying on us?" asked Silva.
"No. I spread these ice orbs throughout the city so I can monitor everything without needing to walk around."
"Smart, aren’t I?" Milenia said with a smile.
’She can even manipulate mana to surveil the city. Just how high is her stage?’ Silva wondered.
"So, what are you going to do with Agares?"
"I’ll care for him at my residence. I still need him," Milenia answered.
"Don’t worry, I’m good at looking after people."
"You can come visit him too."
"How about it?"
Silva fell silent. With her current abilities, she doubted she could heal Agares. But seeing Milenia’s power, she believed the woman might be able to do something.
Reluctantly, Silva agreed and entrusted Agares to Milenia. Milenia extended her hand and conjured a floating ice crystal bed for him. Agares lay atop it.
"Thank you."
"You may return now, Ms. Silva."
Silva nodded. Milenia flew away toward her mansion, her two guards accompanying her in the air. Silva remained on the city’s main road, watching Milenia’s flight trail intently.
"I hope you can heal him, Lady Milenia."

One week later
Milenia’s Residence
City of Midgard
Silva continued to visit Milenia’s residence. She had become a more frequent guest than any of Milenia’s usual male visitors.
And she came for one reason: to be with Agares in his comatose state.
Milenia had provided the best care room for Agares, complete with service from her maids. It was her way of giving Agares the best possible treatment.
Silva opened the door and saw Agares still lying there, in the same clothes. Unlike Agares, Cassandra had awakened two days ago and was currently recovering.
"He’s still not awake..."
She came wearing simple clothes—long pants and a short-sleeved shirt. At a glance, everyone wouldn’t think she was a mage.
Every time Silva came, she would stay until sunset, waiting for Agares to wake up.
Aoi, the blue-white fox who was Agares’s companion, had already woken from her slumber and now kept him company.
Silva and Aoi had met two days after the incident. Silva had been shocked to realize Aoi wasn’t just any fox—she could speak like a human.
Aoi had tried using her abilities to heal Agares, but it was useless. It only drained her strength and didn’t wake Agares.
"Have you eaten, Aoi?" asked Silva, bringing an apple.
"Not yet."
Silva smiled. With a bit of magic, she sliced the apple into small pieces. Aoi took them and ate hungrily, ignoring Agares, who still hadn’t woken up.
"What did you find on the 74th floor?" Silva asked, starting a conversation.
"A monster. With a higher level."
"Did Agares struggle with it?" novelbuddy-cσ๓
"No. Because Master is strong."
"Ah, that I do understand."
Time passed slowly as Silva stayed there, quietly keeping him company. She occasionally glanced at the wall clock, the seconds ticking by so slowly. It was now 1 p.m.
But still, there was no sign of Agares waking. It worried them deeply.
’Agares... when will you wake up?’
