He asked Aoi to go inside his black shirt. Aoi nodded, obeying Agares’ words. The man pulled out his sword and swung it diagonally twice, forming a cross pattern that struck forward.

The cross pattern exploded and cleared away the magical energy around Milenia. But Agares didn’t stop.

He focused his attention forward and saw that Milenia was still trapped by the effects of her mental and emotional trauma.

Agares reached out his hand to touch Milenia’s shoulder. In just a few seconds, Milenia regained consciousness. Her eyes opened, and she found herself kneeling on the dungeon floor.

"What happened?" Milenia asked.

"Your trauma came back. It almost took over your body and mind," Agares explained.

"My trauma?"

Milenia focused her eyes forward and saw Aoi coming out of Agares’ shirt pocket, walking back onto his shoulder.

The woman tried to stand up while patting her backside, brushing the dust off her dress. Agares stared sharply —even though Milenia had recovered and could control her trauma, he still saw traces of fear and worry on her face.

"Keep holding my hand. Don’t ever try to go off alone," Agares said. Milenia cleared her throat and nodded.

They began their dungeon exploration on floor 66. As far as Agares could remember, the monsters and boss monsters on this floor were minotaurs and mini minotaurs. The type of monster was a beast with fire affinity.

It would be easy for Agares to defeat the minotaur monsters, but not necessarily for Milenia. Her stage and level were high enough — based on numbers, she could defeat the monsters. But her trauma and anxiety were still a problem.

It would be very dangerous for Milenia if her trauma surfaced during battle — her stage and level would mean nothing, and she’d be easy to kill.

"Do you remember where the floor boss is?" Milenia asked. Agares nodded while holding her hand.

"I still remember. Besides, my smart navigation is still on."

"To reach the floor boss room, we’ll have to pass through two rooms, one of them is guarded by a mini boss monster," Agares added.

"I already know its attack pattern. So you don’t need to worry."

Milenia nodded firmly. She slapped her own cheek once, trying to remind herself that she was in a dungeon. If she couldn’t control her trauma, it would only make things harder for Agares and Aoi.

Agares smiled, seeing the serious look on Milenia’s face. That was the expression he wanted to see — the moment when Milenia began to take brave steps against her fear and trauma.

They walked out of the dungeon hallway and encountered fire-breathing minotaur monsters. There were four of them, with a dominant fire affinity. Their level was 6, with a total of 2000 HP each.

"Brightspawn monsters."

"Aoi, please protect Milenia."

Aoi nodded. She jumped off Agares’ shoulder and stood in front of Milenia. The woman looked shocked and stunned by Aoi’s actions.

Milenia was clearly stronger and bigger than Aoi, yet Aoi still followed Agares’ order, even though it seemed impossible for her to protect Milenia.

Agares spread his arms to the sides, summoning his Shadepiercer sword, which now had two enhance gems. That was enough to boost the sword’s power.

Running quickly, Agares swung his sword vertically and horizontally, instinctively activating his first saber skill —a slashing shadow strike aimed at the four mini minotaur monsters.

The attack moved fast and precisely, hitting them and throwing their bodies far away. Damage panels appeared in front of Agares, along with the buff panel from the saber skill.

They reacted —feeling challenged and angry at Agares’ shadow slashes. They brought out spiked clubs from their hands and ran toward Agares.

Their height of about 170 cm made them look like normal humans fighting Agares. He had to be careful.

He jumped back while continuing to swing his sword, sending more shadow slashes toward the four monsters. Three of them were hit, but one escaped his sight.

An icy spike shot toward the monster in front of Agares. He quickly jumped far back and clearly saw that the one using the ice ability was Milenia.

Aoi watched the fight from her spot. The speed of Agares’ attacks amazed her. She couldn’t follow the movement of his feet or the flashes of his sword.

"I’ll help Agares," Aoi said, but Milenia moved firmly, stretching out her arm to the side to stop her.

"You have healing abilities."

"ARRGH!" one of the monsters shouted, breaking free from the ice and charging quickly at Milenia.

Milenia saw the minotaur’s face. Its scream, its pain, and its rotten smell triggered terrible memories of her friends’ deaths. That caused her magic to become unstable and vanish.

Aoi was shocked —she saw Milenia frozen in place, her hands and legs shaking in panic. Before, Milenia could attack them because she wasn’t directly threatened. But now it was different.

A mini minotaur monster was charging at her, with the intent to tear apart and violate her body. When that happened, Milenia’s trauma returned and it became hard to calm down.

Aoi swung both of her arms, forming a triple claw cross pattern in front of her, sending a powerful gust of wind forward. But the minotaur didn’t fall. He was still firmly standing.

"Agares!" Aoi shouted.

He heard the shout from behind — Aoi was calling him. He turned and saw a mini minotaur monster walking toward Milenia, while Milenia was in a state of trauma.

"Milenia!" Agares shouted.

Damn it!

Agares swung his sword in a circle, pushing and knocking down the monsters around him. He knew he couldn’t reach Milenia in time. The best option was to throw his sword.

WOSH!

The man threw his Shadepiercer sword, powered by dark energy. The sword flew with force, cutting through the air and creating a wave of thick dark power.

Just before it reached Milenia, the sword struck directly into the monster’s head, stabbing forward and spraying its blood onto Milenia.

Milenia was in shock —her face was splattered with the black blood of the minotaur. Not long after, she fainted, and the monster died instantly.

Agares raised his hand and reached forward, calling his sword back into his grip. Now, there were only two monsters left to defeat before he could return.

While Agares finished the rest of the fight, Aoi tried everything she could to heal Milenia, but it didn’t work.

Five minutes passed. Agares walked toward them and saw that Milenia was still unconscious. The battle in that room was over, the black blood stains disappeared, and the challenge room began its cooldown reset.

"Looks like there’s no sign of her waking up."

Agares wrapped both arms around Milenia to carry her. He, Milenia, and Aoi left that room and arrived in the dungeon hallway.

That way, Agares and Aoi could wait for Milenia to regain consciousness in the hallway. It was safe, since no monsters would attack them for now.

"Are we going to wait here until she wakes up?" Aoi asked.

"Yes... we’ll wait."
