"Her body is very weak—seriously weak. It's likely an old internal injury from her days as a ninja. Add to that the toll of childbirth and overwork, and it's become quite severe. Regular medical ninjas wouldn't be able to detect the true cause."
"T-Then... Tsunade-sama..."
"Don't worry. Now that it's been discovered, it's no problem for me. But she will need plenty of rest from now on."
"Thank you for your trouble, Tsunade-sama!" Hyuga Hiashi respectfully escorted her to the door, cold sweat running down his back. He had thought his wife was just a bit weak—but it turned out to be this serious?!
[It looks like the Konoha Medical Department is only good for treating hemorrhoids!]
They'd let this drag on for so long!
He grumbled to himself inwardly.
But—
Why had Tsunade-sama suddenly come by to check on his wife?
According to her, someone from the Yuto Group had paid her handsomely for a house call.
Just—
Who?
Hiashi furrowed his brow slightly. "Yuto Group?"
Could it have been Suzune?
But after a brief thought, he let it go and quickly walked toward his wife's room.
Right now—
His wife's health was far more important!
As he entered, he saw her sitting on the bed under the covers, telling stories to their two daughters. The stern expression on his face naturally softened into a faint smile. He didn't urge her to rest but quietly took a seat nearby, scooping up their still-infant younger daughter to listen together.
Might as well wait.
A little while longer wouldn't hurt.
Keiko's voice was gentle and soft, slowly flowing through the room, calming even the most restless heart.
After a short while—
Hinata, curled up beside the bed, had clearly fallen asleep. Keiko stopped speaking, gave a helpless smile, lifted the covers, and tucked her in. Then she looked at Hiashi and gently said, "Go on, I've got it here."
"It's fine. There's nothing urgent in the clan right now." Hiashi shook his head mildly, then lowered his gaze to little Hanabi, who was chewing her thumb. "She's asleep too."
"She played all morning. She must be tired." Hyuga Keiko looked at her daughter with a helpless, doting smile.
Suddenly, as if remembering something—
"Oh, right! Have you thought of a name yet?"
For various reasons, they hadn't yet named their younger daughter.
However—
When she saw Hiashi looking a little awkward, she immediately understood. Shaking her head, she hesitated briefly, then said, "I thought of a name. I'm not sure if you'll like it?"
"???" Hiashi furrowed his brows slightly, looking at his wife. "Go ahead."
"Hanabi. Hyuga Hanabi. Like fireworks in winter—brilliant and dazzling." Keiko spoke as she gently caressed her daughter's cheek, smiling warmly. "I hope she won't be as shy as her sister."
As she said this, she looked up and noticed Hiashi frozen in place, and asked with concern, "What's wrong? You don't like it?"
After a pause—
Hiashi snapped out of it. Though his face had briefly shown shock, he returned to calm and said, "It's... a nice name."
"Pretty, right? Hanabi! Hanabi!" Keiko beamed as she looked at her curled-up daughter, thumb still in her mouth. "You've got a name now! Hyuga Hanabi!"
However—
Hiashi's pupils slightly contracted, his heart clearly stirred.
Hyuga... Hanabi?
Was it just his imagination?
No—
It must be a coincidence.
...
"She's already on her way," Yuto said helplessly, watching Hanabi pace anxiously. "If you're that worried, you could just call and ask."
Seriously.
She'd been pushing him since early morning.
Even Suzune looked puzzled—why ask Tsunade-sama to see her sister-in-law?
After all, there weren't any external symptoms. Most would just assume it was fatigue or general weakness.
"She's my... okay! I'm just a little nervous." Hanabi stuck out her tongue, then recomposed herself with the dignity of the Hyuga Clan Leader, sighed, and sat back down. "This is about changing history!"
This time, both she and her sister would grow up with their mother by their side!
With that—
Yuto rolled his eyes.
If changing history were that rare, the internet wouldn't be full of it.
"Don't you have missions these days?"
"I just got back a few days ago, alright?" Hanabi gave him a look. "And it's freezing out. Even ninja need breaks." She ruffled Honoka's head with a troubled face. "Your Uncle Yuto is the worst—he's trying to kick me out!"
"..."
Honoka rolled her eyes too, staying silent.
Too complicated.
Best for kids not to get involved.
But—
Hanabi was just venting. Then she looked at Yuto again. "Thanks! Should I..." She hesitated. "Treat you to a drink tonight? As thanks?"
Honestly—
She still remembered that night they went drinking, even after sobering up. So she felt a little awkward inside.
[Just a few drinks today—definitely not getting drunk again!]
"Forget it," Yuto waved a hand. "I need to meet Jiraiya-sensei later to talk about the square dance plans."
Apparently, there were some new developments. And he was invited to join the discussion.
Still—
It was just a local village event. It shouldn't be a huge deal.
But—
As soon as he said that—
Yuto, lazily sprawled under the heated table, suddenly felt a hard kick. Then he saw Hanabi's tiny fists pounding him. "You jerk!"
"Hey hey, I am your savior, remember?"
"Thank you very much!"
"Should I... Hanabi-sensei, Uncle Yuto... maybe I should go?" Honoka said helplessly. "It's getting a little crowded in here."
Grown-ups!
Still playing around like this?
Mother Suzune would be sad!
With that—
The two stopped sheepishly.
And just then—
"Dinner is ready!" Suzune's voice rang out, the food already laid out. The three of them, pretending nothing had happened, lazily shuffled to the dining room. The four sat down together, ready to eat.
...
In the afternoon—
Yuto went out as scheduled.
Not long after—
Hanabi also left the house.
Although it was the middle of winter and not the best time to go out, Hanabi still wrapped a scarf around her neck and wore thick clothes before stepping outside.
She was planning to take a walk.
Looking at Konoha, now lightly dusted with falling snow, she couldn't help but feel a bit sentimental.
Even though the Hanabi here was still young, this version of Konoha—no, more accurately, this version of the Ninja World—was completely different from the one in her own time.
But to be honest—
The level of prosperity now already matched that of the Ninja World she once knew.
Hanabi shoved both hands into her coat pockets, shaking her head helplessly. "This weather's really cold! Damn it! I wanted to buy him a drink too."
But he actually turned her down.
And here...
She didn't really have any friends to grab a drink with.
As Hanabi wandered alone, walking and stopping along the way, feeling the early winter chill in the air and thinking it was probably time to head back—
Suddenly—
"Hyuga Hanabi!"
A low, familiar voice called from behind.
Hanabi froze slightly, turning her head to see the father of this world, and quickly responded, "Fa—Clan Leader!"
But—
Why was he here?
And why had he suddenly called out to her?
After all, due to various reasons, even though she was technically listed under the Hyuga clan, she wasn't really under their jurisdiction. So usually, when her father saw her, he barely acknowledged her.
However—
This time—
The Hyuga clan leader suddenly stopped her, looked her over seriously, and then gave a small nod and said plainly, "Thank you."
Before Hanabi could even react—
She saw—
Hyuga Hiashi turn around and walk back toward the Hyuga compound.
"???"
What... was that about?
Could it be that her father had already found out she asked Tsunade-sama to treat her mother?
Hanabi stood there, totally confused, watching Hiashi's departing back.
What was Father doing?
A short while later—
"Hanabi!"
Another familiar voice called out.
Hanabi snapped out of it and looked at Yuto in front of her. She was slightly stunned, then smiled and said, "All done?"
"All done. What's up?"
"Want to grab a drink?"
"...Sure."
Under the light snow of winter—
Yuto, a little helplessly, walked slowly with Hanabi toward the same izakaya as last time.
