The Demon with Holy Radiance-Chapter 78 - 75: So, What Lesson Did This Teach Us?
"Junior Brother Yang An, here to see Eleventh Senior Brother. Forgive the intrusion, but is Senior Brother in?"
After waiting for a few breaths with no response, Yang An called out again.
’It can’t be this much of a coincidence, can it? He’s not here either?’ Yang An thought. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
CREAK—
Just then, the dilapidated residence’s main gate slowly opened from the inside. The two Corpse Slaves standing guard also lowered their hands, clearly no longer blocking the way.
Yang An peeked inside. A gloomy wind seemed to stir within the dark Corpse Saliva Valley, but he couldn’t see a thing.
But this was clearly an invitation to enter. After a moment’s hesitation, Yang An slowly stepped into his Eleventh Senior Brother’s residence.
CLANG!
The moment he stepped through the gate, the wooden door slammed shut behind him. Yang An grew alert and scanned the residence’s courtyard.
The place was completely empty. The ground was overgrown with weeds, and broken tiles and rubble were scattered everywhere, as if the place had just been forcibly demolished.
He had no choice but to keep moving forward, slowly approaching the main house.
Just as he reached the entrance, he immediately spotted a figure through the open doorway.
It was a... person, drenched in blood.
He was leaning against a wall, tearing off his own skin and flesh piece by piece. By the time Yang An saw him, he was already tearing at his neck.
RRRIP—
The next moment, he gave a sudden, violent tug, ripping the flesh from his head along with a large amount of hair. A complete human skin now dangled from his hand.
Blood oozed continuously from his blood-red skull, sliding down his body and pooling on the floor.
But the man let out a moan of what seemed to be extreme comfort, as if the act caused him no pain at all. In fact, it seemed quite pleasant.
He hung the skin he’d torn from his body on the wall. Then, from who knows where, he produced another human skin and began to press it onto his own profusely bleeding flesh.
First, he fitted the head portion, pulling and stretching it left and right to adjust the position for a snug fit. Then he moved on to the parts below the head.
The human skin seemed to take root as soon as it touched him, melding perfectly with his body.
Witnessing this, Yang An felt an inexplicable tingling and itching sensation all over his body, most intensely on his Scalp.
’So, this guy is Eleventh Senior Brother Pi Chu?’
’He’s definitely not normal!’
"Junior Brother, wait just a moment. Allow me to finish changing my clothes, hehe."
As he was changing his new skin, pulling it taut over his waist and abdomen, Pi Chu’s bloodshot eyes fell on Yang An. He spoke with a chuckle.
It was as if, in his eyes, it was truly nothing more than a normal change of clothes.
Yang An couldn’t understand, nor did he want to. Only a guy like this could know what went on in his own head.
Not knowing what the man was up to, he didn’t dare approach rashly. He could only remain vigilant and wait quietly outside the door.
After a dozen or so breaths, Pi Chu’s voice came from inside again.
By now, he had finished changing the skin on his entire body and had thrown on a robe. He walked barefoot across the ground, leaving a long trail of blood. The room was thick with the heavy stench of it.
"Sorry to keep you waiting, Junior Brother. Please, come in, come in."
He tied the sash around his waist as he spoke, but his gait was slightly unsteady, as if he was still getting used to his newly donned skin.
Hearing his words, Yang An remained on high alert and did not enter.
He had no idea what tricks this guy had up his sleeve. From the looks of it, this person was even more dangerous than he had imagined.
If he went inside and his escape route was cut off, it wouldn’t be easy to run.
"Greetings, Senior Brother. I’ll stay out here, if you don’t mind. I came to see you today because there’s something I’d like to ask."
Yang An decided to get straight to the point. He felt this place was growing more dangerous by the second and didn’t want to stay a moment longer than necessary.
"Hehehehe—"
Inside, Pi Chu staggered to the tea table, poured himself a cup, and let out a sinister laugh.
His hand, sticky with bloodstains, closed around the cup. It looked viscous enough to leave stringy trails, but he paid it no mind and threw back the tea in one gulp.
But the tea he swallowed immediately leaked from a spot on his throat, trickling down his neck and into his clothes with a sizzling sound.
Pi Chu instantly grew annoyed. He grabbed the leaking flesh with two fingers and gave it a vicious twist, like sealing a dumpling, which immediately formed a knot of skin.
Only when his neck stopped leaking did he finally calm down. He plopped down onto a chair by the tea table. Then he turned to look at Yang An outside the door, his bloodshot eyes and face—still oozing blood from all seven orifices—twisted into a wide smile.
"Junior Brother, where are you from?"
"..."
Yang An suspected the man hadn’t been listening to him at all.
"You’re not from Han State, are you, Junior Brother? The skin of people from Han State tends to be a bit more yellow and dark. You must be from... oh, right!"
He slapped his head as he spoke.
"Look at my memory. The old bastard said he brought you over from Dingzhou!
"Junior Brother, you have such fine features, and your skin is so fair and clear. It really makes your senior brother quite envious."
"..."
’Such insolence!’
’This guy actually called the old master an "old bastard." Is everyone in the Life Crane Sect this bold?’
Yang An cursed inwardly. Hearing Pi Chu’s words, he felt an even stronger sense of danger. The man’s eyes were filled with greed as he stared intently at him.
