Chapter 432: Where you truly belong (6)

Jia was dumbfounded at that allegation. She couldnโ€™t tell where to start explaining her. Lihua, too, admired Mulanโ€™s stupid audacity. ๐™›๐’“๐“ฎ๐™š๐”€๐’†๐’ƒ๐“ท๐’๐“ฟ๐™š๐“ต.๐™˜๐’๐’Ž

My sis has nothing to do with that evil doctor! How dare she blame that my sis is some evil, jealous woman!

"...The same future position which I have repeatedly declined?" Jia emphasized her point.

Mingshen chimed in. "You hurt my feelings, Spicy. Arenโ€™t we so close-"

"Shut up, Mingshen."

Mulan sneered. "Thatโ€™s all just a farce, Inspector Song."

"If it was a farce, then I would have gotten married to Mingshen long ago," she grimaced with a dry gaze.

Mingshen chimed in again. "Which is such a pity, Spicy. Why arenโ€™t we already married?"

"Didnโ€™t I tell you to zip your lips shut?"

Mingshen grumbled with grievances, but he cast a moment of his precious attention on Mulan.

"I donโ€™t know if I should applaud your over-confidence or pity your ignorance," he sneered. "No offense to Uncle Xie, but you were never in the game in the first place, you were never at any starting line, so pray tell me, why did you dream that you would be my wife one day? I only want to explore my bodily functions with Spicy!"

Jia threw him a shocked and dumbfounded look. Lihua almost fainted if not for Wei who would have grabbed her.

"We are outside, Yang Mingshen!" Jia glared. "Try to have a filter somewhere in your mouth!"

He shrugged. "Filters are boring, Spicy. It blocks my real heart-to-heart talk, you know?"

"Yeah, which is very necessary sometimes! No, when itโ€™s you, all the time!"

She exhaled a deep breath and like always, ignored him. She turned back to face Mulan again.

"Miss. Xie, if you think that you can detail the accusations against you by putting out a lame theory of a jealous police officer wanting to get you out of her way, then sadly, you have no idea how the law works. The evidence and your crimes wonโ€™t change no matter which curtain you try to hide behind."

Mulan rushed to Xie Zi Hanโ€™s side and grabbed his arm. "Dad, please say something! Everyone is trying to frame me for such heinous crimes that I never even dreamt of! What the hell is wrong with everyone? At least you...at least you trust me Dad, right?"

Xie Zi Han had been standing in silence for a long, long time. The words everybody spoke reached his ears but nothing made sense to him. He tremblingly lowered his head toward the one and only family member he had. He looked into her eyes and tried to find the glimpse of the daughter he raised all this time.

Yet for some strange and cruel reason...he couldnโ€™t find that Mulan anywhere.

"I had once...told you about my association with a gang," he could barely voice out his words.

She blinked.

"I never went into the details but you knew the part of my life that I was strictly forbidden to talk about. In a sense, I betrayed Boss but only because the one I was telling it to was my daughter. Is that why..." his lips quivered, "you knew to look for Ningkai?"

Her eyes widened. "W-What are you talking about, Dad? I never looked for this man! I donโ€™t even know who he is!"

Shi Ningkai only scoffed. "Wow, I understand now why your daughter weaves such fine tales, Xie. Because she got it from you. You were a liar and you raised her to follow in your footsteps. A liar father-daughter pair-"

When a hand viciously clenched his jaw, Shi Ningkai came face to face with the force that was called Yang Bingqing. The same cold gaze that she once showed only to her targets was now aimed straight at him. Her nails were beginning to pierce into his skin.

"You and I are going to have a long talk, Ningkai. Trust me, itโ€™s not going to be pleasant at all so I think a reasonably smart man would know to keep his mouth shut and not add onto his crimes," she tilted her head dangerously. "You know what kind of an assassin I was, donโ€™t you?"

Mulan continued to convince Xie Zi Han. "Dad, you have to believe. I did nothing wrong! From Jia to Beiye, everybody is trying to frame me!"

Jia smiled. "If you think that your future investors are gone, then you are wrong. Though the guests left, we have detained them for questioning."

She stared.

"They will join you in the questioning because I am pretty sure they are also aware of what kind of a game they wanted to invest in. Shady businessmen just like you who only see profit. And I am also sure that with the threat of going to jail, their lips will become pretty loose pretty soon. Do you really want to continue clinging to your fake tears?"

"Sassy Spicy!" Mingshen nodded with appreciation.

Jia then glanced at Huo Tengqi. "Itโ€™s through you, right? The investors all came to your engagement ceremony, which means obviously you are acquainted with them. You were the bridge between Miss. Xie and those investors. Now I donโ€™t know if Mr. Shi is a part of that chain too, but we can figure that out in the Bureau. We have lots of time to spare for everyoneโ€™s questioning. So many arrests tonight."

Hou Huan stumbled back. "What do you mean by questioning? I am not going anywhere! This is all a conspiracy against us! Itโ€™s all Meihuiโ€™s doing to push us out of politics!"

Zhuo Meihui gritted her teeth. "You have completely lost your mind, havenโ€™t you?"

Zhong Kaiโ€™s gaze looked like he would tear down the house. "I am disappointed in you Jia, Huojin. This is how you stabbed me in the back?"

"Stabbed you in the back?" Huojin scoffed. "You have made a joke of the law and police and now you feel the injustice after helping the Hou family and riding on somebody elseโ€™s promotion all this time?"

He shook his head. "Your time is over, Commissioner- oops, I should say ex-commissioner. You are all going to the place you always belonged - Jail."
