The Devil's Warrior Queen-Chapter 275: The White Ring
Chapter 275: The White Ring
"It felt so real, do you think the dream was connected to my memories in any way?" Rama queried thoughtfully.
"There is nothing for you to fear, like I said, stop pushing yourself to remember and just live in the moment. No one and nothing can harm you in here, you’re safe." Aurora flashed her a nonchalant beam as she cleared out the tension in the air.
Rama nodded in uncertainty as she continued eating her food, while Aurora and Dalen exchanged quick, wary glances.
As breakfast proceeded in silence, the door abruptly swung open to reveal a white witch striding in, taking their attention as their gaze traveled to her.
Halting a few inches away, she bowed to them and notified the queen "Your Highness, the white ring summons you."
Not revealing any reaction, Aurora stiffly arose from her chair. Glancing shortly at Dalen, she ordered "Keep her company and don’t let her out of your sight."
Dalen nodded sternly while Rama watched with a sullen expression as she walked out of the dining hall. ƒгeewebnovёl_com
She liked spending time with the Silver Witch, her presence was somewhat soothing and tranquil, she fascinated her, as well as trusted her even though her intuition knew they were hiding something from her.
. Although, it appeared as if they were concealing a grave secret from her which would have left her skeptical about their motive, but her instincts told her they were hiding something to keep her safe, but safe from what?
"I’m done eating, Lord Dalen." She announced as she dropped her cutleries down.
"Let’s leave then." He offered and she nodded.
As they emerged into the corridor, she suddenly asked "What is the white ring?"
"It’s the castle’s high court members, they’re discussing something important with the queen." Dalen explained and she nodded in silence.
"Would you like a tour of the castle?" Dalen proposed, noticing her bored countenance.
As much as she felt secure and comfortable in the care of the white witches, there was a shallow space in her heart that could never be sealed as she unknowingly longed for a seemingly different life. She soon realized how hectic her life must have been in the past if she was unable to adapt to the tranquil life there.
"I would like to go outside." She blurted out in desperation.
Dalen’s brows twitched at her words. He opened his mouth to speak but she interrupted him swiftly "I know what your answer will be, but it just doesn’t feel right to be trapped in here, I need to go back to my ruined kingdom."
"You’re never trapped in here lady Rama, but I can’t let you go out. If you go out and your rivalries gain news of you being alive and well, they’ll stop at nothing to put your head on a stake." Dalen warned with a grave tone.
"I’ll be careful, I’ll wear a disguise or something and you’ll escort me." Rama insisted, her eyes gleaming with hope as she looked up to him.
"It’s not that easy, do you even remember how to fight anymore?" He asked sternly as he turned to face her.
"Fight? I-I don’t know." She stuttered.
"You don’t remember anything, you’ll only be a burden to me if we were to encounter an enemy of yours while we went out." Dalen pointed out, earning a sigh of defeat from her.
She knew he was right, things could quickly escalate into a perilous situation if they weren’t careful, but still, she was desperate to the extent she could walk into hell and back again just to get the answers she needed.
"Then I’ll learn how to fight, it shouldn’t be hard to catch up since I was a warrior in my kingdom." She stated with fierce determination in her eyes.
Dalen stared at her observantly for a long moment, a crooked smile grazing his lips as he said with a nonchalant shrug "It won’t hurt, you’ll start training tomorrow."
Rama’s eyes widened with shock at how easily he had agreed to it, her lashes fluttered in confusion "Really?!" She exclaimed in a high pitched voice, unable to hide her delight.
He chuckled softly at her cute reaction, she looked no more than a child who had been given extra candy.
"So that means after training, we will be able to go out." She murmured loudly to herself, as her eyes glimmered with hope.
"We will see about that after you may have completed your training." Dalen voiced out with a steely gaze, almost making her pout as if he were scolding her with his eyes.
"Alright then, I’ll start training tomorrow, but who will train me?" She asked with curious eyes eager to know.
"Me, I’ll be training you." He declared nonchalantly with a broad smile expanding on his lips.
"Oh.." She breathed out as she didn’t expect his startling answer.
"You don’t seem pleased about it, should I find a different trainer?" A hint of sarcasm coated his tone but his sullen countenance was indifferent.
"Oh no, that’s not it, I was merely surprised. I wasn’t expecting a noble as yourself to make time in teaching a human how to fight. I truly am grateful, thank you lord Dalen." She said in a rushed, defensive tone, but earnestly grateful that he was helping her.
"Alright then." Dalen said half heartedly.
She wondered if white witches were unusually kind or perhaps it was just her, but why her? She knew there was something off about the entire circumstances that had been unveiling before her since she woke up with no memories, she could feel it deep down in her guts but she couldn’t quite point her finger on it.
They seemed to be hiding an enigmatic secret from her, but at the same time she couldn’t doubt their help, it seemed sincere to her, although she was skeptical about their motive, just what could it be?
Their concealed motive didn’t seem like it would hurt her, but she needed to know rather than being left in the dark, but apparently their lips were tightly sealed to spill and she knew they obviously wouldn’t tell if she randomly asked.
Apparently, the last resolve she had was getting undeniably close to them, but the silver witch was out of her league, she was too busy with queenly duties and amidst all the motherly nature and tenderness she portrayed, her emotional and mental stability was too strong to bypass, she would never spill, she was sure to brush it off with a charming smile and a long speech but not a single hint would be disclosed.
She had only one option left, after all only these two beings seemed to be fully aware of what was going on, so it was either one or the other.
Lord Dalen.
He seemed carefree in her presence, her intuition sensed he might like her company and from what she had noticed, he equally seemed to be her personal bodyguard, protecting her 24/7 from any possible attacks, he was never leaving her side until she retreated to bed.
Spending the whole day together everyday was certainly going to strengthen their closeness, although she wasn’t sure on her side as she didn’t feel any sort of link between them and moreover, she wasn’t planning to seduce him, although she realized even at that point, spending so much time together might somehow elicit a spark within him, making her inwardly dread her plan of getting close for the truth, but the truth seemed worth it.
"Rama?" He called, snapping her back into reality.
Fluttering her lashes, she whipped her face toward him with a nervous smile brushing her quivering lips as wanted to speak, but then quickly thinned her lips, swallowing the words that threatened to flow out.
"Why are you trembling?" Dalen blatantly pointed out, his lips half split in a crooked smile as if he was enjoying her plight.
"W-What?" She stuttered, her nerves wrecked in nervousness as he blatantly called her out. Yes, she was nervous about her plan and how to get close to him, she didn’t even know what she was doing but she was desperate for answers, desperate for the truth hanging at the brink of her consciousness.
She needed to recognize the truth trying to crawl out of the dark hole in her mind, but her timid nature seemed to overwhelm her mental stability.
"What do you want to say that’s got you nervous?" Dalen asked, rather than mockery she heard genuine interest.
His brows were raised up questioningly as he looked down at her, waiting for a response.
Meekly, she averted her gaze as she awkwardly cleared her throat, forcing her disheveled mind to be composed. She hated how she was unable to have any control over her conflicting emotions, one moment she would be fierce and confident, the next she would be utterly timid.
"Uhm, I only wanted to know more about you...and the silver witch of course." She blurted out.
"Alright then, ask while I take you on a tour." He suggested and she nodded, almost sighing in relief.
