Chapter 489: A Mad Plan

Back in Empire D....

The Emperials,Felix and Darius engaged in a conversation at the meeting hall. Avian shared his plans with them and Adina and Zion stared at him wide eyed with open mouths but Darius and Felix stared at him thoughtfully.

"What?! Have you gone insane, Avian?!" Adina exclaimed with a shocked expression in utter disbelief. She couldn’t believe her ears on what Avian was planning to do, it was simply madness to her. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

Avian kept silent with a stoic expression, he knew Adina and Zion would find his plans outrageous but he trusted Darius to give it a thought.

"The only insane thing that’s going to happen is letting Lothaire release Hela." Avian finally broke the silence.

"As much as releasing Hela sounds awful, your plan is just as bad! What if it doesn’t work? He’ll send us all to hell." Adina stated logically.

"It’ll work....Probably." Avian said confidently and they stared at him in silence for a moment.

"Are you trying to get us all killed?" Zion said, once he finally found his voice.

"Probably." Avian replied with a flat tone.

"I don’t know if you’re being sarcastic or serious." Zion said warily. He idolized Lothaire and had always daydreamed of being as powerful as he was ever since he was a kid since he was the weakest in his clan which made him feel inferior but now he saw that being as powerful as Lothaire also had it’s odds.

"I understand just how much the loss of a mate could torment someone but if you want to die to know peace, this isn’t the way..." Adina said reasonably with a soft look. She wondered why he was going through all these troubles even after he lost his breed mate. She had naturally thought he’d follow after her in death but here he was, throwing death cards at them all.

"It has nothing to do with her." Avian stated firmly. ’Why did she have to bring up Onyx now?’ He thought inwardly as he struggled to keep his composure. There was not a second that went by without thinking of Onyx which tormented him in every passing second but he still maintained a rational look on the outside even though he was losing it inside.

" Then your plan’s a suicide mission for all of us. You should leave Lothaire be, I’m sure once he uses Hela to give Larisa immortality, he’ll imprison her back into the abyss." Adina stated with certainty.

"You think it’s that easy?" Darius finally spoke and they all turned their attention to him warily for what he was about to add in.

"Hela doesn’t seem that stupid to me, she’ll obviously bargain for her freedom in return of giving Larisa the gift of immortality and Lothaire wouldn’t bat an eye in fulfilling her wish because all he cares about is Larisa. He wouldn’t even break a sweat if Hela was busy destroying the Empire as long as Larisa would be in his arm for eternity." Darius stated making it clear that he was strongly in support of Avian’s plans which didn’t surprise anyone, he was rational and straight headed. Adina stared at him in surprise but she knew he was right, she didn’t want to be negative about Hela’s release but hearing from Darius and Avian, nothing about Hela seemed positive, she was crazy and dangerous which didn’t seem like a great combination to her.

Adina sighed in frustration, they were literally between the devil and the deep blue sea. None of the choices they were forced to make seemed like a good idea. Releasing Hela was equally as dangerous as Avian’s plan.

"Darius is right! Lothaire doesn’t care about the Empire, he never did and the moment he releases Hela, the Empire will be lost. Hela won’t be happy about being trapped in the abyss for a thousand years, she’ll take it out on us and Lothaire wouldn’t care as long as Larisa would already be immortal." Felix added in with a stern expression.

"Have you guys all thought about the possibility of the plan not working?" They heard Zion ask as he scratched his head in worry. He was right, there was a possibility that Avian’s insane plan might not work and the tension in the air grew heavier.

"If Avian’s plan doesn’t work, it’ll be much worse than releasing Hela, Lothaire would burn the Empire to the ground with us in it!" Adina pointed out exactly what was going to happen if the plan failed in a literal sense. They were all wary of what would happen if the plan failed.

"It’ll work! Laverna will make it work." Avian stated with confidence, not a hint of worry or fear on his stoic face. They all whipped their heads towards him in surprise.

"Laverna?" Adina asked to be sure she didn’t mishear him.

"How did you expect me to do it? Laverna is doing all the work, I’ll just have to pay her for it." Avian explained and the tensity slowly lessened, knowing how powerful Laverna was but their worries still lingered, Laverna was powerful but she couldn’t be compared to Lothaire, he was in a different level of powerful.

"Your plan seems calculated and perfect as always but Lothaire isn’t something to be calculated, one wrong move and it’s over." Zion said with a serious expression. He had to switch from his playful mode to his serious one.

"The plan’s perfect, that’s why it’ll work." Avian said firmly.

"Fine, we’ll follow the plan. It’s risky but we have to do everything in our power to protect the Empire." Darius said with an air of authority and Adina knew they couldn’t argue their way out even if they wanted, he was the crown prince and apparent heir to the throne and he was also right, they had to protect the Empire and the only way to do that was to contain the two evils.

Felix felt empathy for Larisa because she’d be the one to suffer it more, their plan was going to hurt the both of them and probably bring an end to their bond but if fate was on their side, maybe they’d return back to each other but that would mean their plan failed and they would all be killed for nothing, so he could only hope for it to work, they couldn’t lose the Empire for them. Lothaire was being selfish releasing a dangerous being into their Empire and the world so it wasn’t so unfair that they were being selfish and putting an end to their mating bond for their Empire.

Adina and Zion bowed slightly to him in respect and affirmation.

"Where’s Laverna? Shouldn’t she be here to put us through with how exactly the plan’s going to work beforehand?" Felix queried at Avian but he stayed silent which told them he was unaware of her location as much as they were. Laverna hadn’t been sighted since the war had commenced, Avian knew she was preparing for the plan as she was taking a lot of time, since it wasn’t an easy feat to imprison Lothaire for good.

"I’m right here! Miss me already?" Laverna’s voice resounded in their ears from behind them and they turned around to meet her walking towards them, appearing out of thin air.

"Avian told us about the plan. I don’t mean to question your abilities but are you sure it’s going to work?" Adina immediately queried with wary eyes as she saw her.

"You’re obviously questioning my abilities, but I’ll take no offence since I know Lothaire’s too powerful, our plan sounds impossible but it’s not so you don’t have to worry because it’ll definitely work." Laverna said confidently and Adina sighed in relief.

"That’s a huge relief then, I didn’t doubt your powers for a second!" Zion exclaimed with relief but Avian knew better than anyone that it was too soon to celebrate.

"Early celebrators are always the first to mourn, so hold it till the plan goes smoothly or moreover, hold it till he never again wakes up." Laverna warned with a mischievous smirk on her face and Zion gulped at her words. He wondered if that would be possible, he wondered if it was possible to imprison Lothaire forever, thinking about it made him realize that it was impossible and if he escaped after Larisa had grown old and died, that would undoubtedly be the end of the world.
