The Empress's Gigolo-Chapter 847 - Mr. X’s Congratulatory Gift

The next part was relatively simple. Hong Luan put together another rhyming couplet, and it was one with an excellent meaning.
Xin Zhe, on the other hand, gave up. With her personality, she couldn’t think of anything.
“You give me a bag of candy and I’ll open the door for you now.”
As soon as Lin Qiaole’s voice sounded, Ren Baqian heard the sound of a physical collision and Lin Qiaole went silent.
“It seems like I’m the only one left. Sorry for lacking in manners.” A flirtatious voice sounded. Even though the language she used made people feel a little weird, her voice was sufficient to make them forget what she said.
Except for Ren Baqian.
“If I give a tough one, Her Majesty will definitely blame me! I have heard people say that sometimes, ears are more important than eyes. Many things are better heard than seen, especially for things that aren’t visible. There’s something called the inner voice. What can you hear, Your Highness?”
Even though people in the room were using words like “Your Majesty” and “Your Highness,” the others didn’t really think too much about it. Perhaps these were their nicknames?
“Someone’s going crazy for sugar.” Ren Baqian laughed.
Everybody in the house started laughing again.
“What a coincidence! Why don’t you try to guess what today’s most important person is thinking about, Your Highness?” Ning Caichen’s flirtatious voice sounded again.
“Ahem.” Ren Baqian imitated the empress’s voice and said softly, “This person is so long-winded. Kill her when we get back!”
“His Highness is joking again. However, let’s still leave this last question to today’s most important person.” Ning Caichen chuckled.
The most crucial moment had finally arrived.
A faint female voice sounded from the room and said, “There’s an expiration date for everything in this world. Sardines, canned meat, and even plastic wrap will expire. Therefore, is there anything in the world that won’t expire?”
After hearing this, Ren Baqian immediately thought about the empress’s calm expression as she sat in the room and as she said these words.
He then frowned. That was why he hated Wang Jiawei.
He always came up with these ridiculous words.
However, he still had to deal with it.
Ren Baqian lowered his voice and said gently, “Everything will expire, but the memories in my mind will not. We have agreed to spend a lifetime together, not even one day, one minute, or one second less.”
The entire room went quiet.
“Open the door!” the empress said faintly.
Ren Baqian heaved a sigh of relief. He turned around and saw Chen Qing and Ren Wannian with their thumbs up.
The door finally opened.
A row of 20 winged cavalry warriors stood smirking in the room.
They were actually smiling, but to the others, they looked like they were smirking.
Ren Baqian glanced into the room and saw the little girl who craved candy, but didn’t manage to get any. She was laying on the ground like a corpse and had presumably been knocked out by someone.
Ning Caichen and Jiang Nan sat on the sofa with smiles on their faces.
He finally saw the empress when he entered the room. Dressed in a red and gold wedding gown that looked even more gorgeous than the one she wore in Dayao, she sat in front of the dressing table,.
Her hair was bunned up and decorated with some gold ornaments.
Her skin was fair, her lips were red, and her eyebrows were slightly curved, which looked much gentler compared to the straight ones that she used to have.
The empress simply sat there and looked at Ren Baqian with pursed lips. Her eyes were glistening like a crystal clear lake. He was afraid… that he was going to have weak kidneys again…
Well, they were still pretty weak at the moment. It would probably take another 10 days for him to recover.
“What are you thinking about?” she asked when she saw him standing at the door and staring at her.
“I’m thinking about… striving to the utmost until my dying day!” Ren Baqian looked and sounded very serious. However, the empress’s face blushed after hearing this, and she wanted to give him a kiss.
Once he received the bride, things were much easier from then on.
They waited in the room for the right time before leaving for their new house. After that, they went to the hotel.
The photographers gazed at each other in speechless dismay. It was better when they were outside the door, but once they entered, the atmosphere immediately turned cold. The bride and groom kept quiet and whispered from time to time while the others were in a daze.
How were they going to take pictures like this?
They wanted to lift the atmosphere, but when they looked at the 20 fierce looking and burly men with scars on their faces, they were at a loss for words.
This was their job! If they didn’t shoot some footage, how were they going to explain to their clients?
Sweat started rolling down from their faces.
“Er, shouldn’t this be a little more lively?” a man from the wedding company suggested boldly.
The 20 winged cavalry warriors immediately looked at him.
“We can’t shoot like this!”
“You didn’t prepare any alcohol for us to make it lively,” one of the winged cavalry warriors replied.
“That’s right. Why didn’t you prepare alcohol?”
“I heard that it was prepared, but it isn’t here.”
“That’s right. Little bean, I haven’t had a drink with you in ages!” One of the winged cavalry warriors looked at Ding Jie, who was smoking a cigar.
“Only a fool would drink with you guys!” He looked at them with disdain. These mountain kids would start to play the finger guessing game once they began drinking. Was their version of the game even suitable for humans?
“Little bean, are you looking down on us?” 20 pairs of eyes stared at him like 40 piercing blades.
Ding Jie’s face turned black as he replied, “I still have something to do later.”
“Hehe!” The winged cavalry warriors sneered together, making him feel anything but reassured and giving him goosebumps.
“Let me tell you, you are looking down on us if you don’t drink with us. I’m guessing there is no need for us to tell you what happens to people who look down on us, right?”
“I’ll drink!” Ding Jie’s face turned ashen.
…
Once the time arrived, everyone set off for the new house and then to the hotel.
With an entourage of 20 winged cavalry warriors, everyone had to think two or three times before saying something.
Soon after arriving at the hotel, a middle-aged man in glasses found Ren Baqian.
“Congratulations to Mr. Ren and Ms. Qi on your marriage. I’m Liu Changqing, and this is Mr. X’s congratulatory gift.
Even though this man didn’t mention the name of the person who sent the gift, Ren Baqian immediately knew who it was when he heard his surname. It was that man who had retired.
The gift was a piece of flamboyant calligraphy that read, “Blessed unity and a match made in heaven.” Ren Baqian felt that his own horrible handwriting looked slightly better than this.
Of course, it was the thought that counts.
Even though Mr. X had already retired, his status was out of the norm.
The inscription at the bottom alone could make the city officials give Ren Baqian preferential treatment.
He decided to place this calligraphy outside his door to ward off evil.
Of course, he couldn’t place it in his house. Who would be able to see it? He had to hang it outside his door.
If Mr. X read Ren Baqian’s current thoughts, he would probably throw up blood.
“There’s also this!” The middle-aged man handed him a red packet with the words “double happiness” written on it.
“You are too kind!” Ren Baqian immediately smiled, wondering if the red packet contained gift money.
After accepting it, he knew that it was exactly what he thought. As he poured out the contents, large golden characters on the red surface reflected in his eyes.
“Marriage Certificate.”
Ren Baqian almost spurted blood. This Mr. X actually got someone to send him this thing?
“Boss said that this is the certification of marriage that is protected by law.” The middle-aged man laughed when he remembered the expression that the old man gave him. It was like a kid playing a prank.
Of course, not everybody had a chance to witness such childishness.
