Chapter 374: 374

Listening to the teachers, Michelle shook her head.

"No. I will just leave..." Michelle didn’t care whether her actions were suspicious or not.

All her attention was on finding a way to get to the heavenly realm so she could find out what really happened with Alexander.

The teachers weren’t stupid, and from Michelle’s stance understood that the story wasn’t as she was saying.

Getting thrown off a flying beast wouldn’t be enough to make someone act like she was, even if they were hurt.

Also, her wounds were clearly scratches, and on her neck and shoulder area at that.

Those weren’t the kind of wounds one would get from falling down from a height.

Those facts coupled with Michelle’s insistence to leave convinced them the young girl in front of them was actually plotting something.

So their stance changed.

"Young Lady, I’m afraid you can’t leave!" one of them blocked Michelle’s path while the other one summoned his spirit energy to show they were serious.

Seeing the two teachers blocking her path, Michelle really felt like going on a rampage.

Oh, how she felt like killing them on the spot.

But she didn’t get the chance to, because she sensed a familiar presence behind her.

A pair of forearms pressed against her shoulders as someone leaned against her from the back.

"This one’s with me. You two can go now." The voice carried the arrogance of a monarch and the power of a commander.

Naturally, the two teachers knew who Alexander was and scrambled away.

They would just need to report to the headmaster that the guest teacher brought someone into the academy, and the headmaster would deal with it.

As the teachers left, Michelle remained rooted to the spot, feeling the weight on her back.

Tears started streaming down her face again, but she remained silent.

Alexander didn’t want to see Michelle grieving.

Standing up straight, so he was no longer leaning on her, Alexander put his hands on Michelle’s shoulders and turned her to face him.

Only to see that stunning face wet with tears.

"I know I promised I will make you cry, but tears don’t suit you..." Alexander spoke surprisingly gently, reaching out to wipe Michelle’s tears.

Michelle let Alexander wipe her tears, her gaze scanning him carefully.

He was perfectly fine.

"You died..." her voice was still hoarse, but after seeing Alexander alive and well, it got a bit better.

It was like a lump disappeared from her throat.

"The pact broke..." she added.

Alexander pulled Michelle against him, wrapping his arms around her.

"It also broke when you were in that body‑tempering space," though that sentence didn’t really suit the situation, somehow it sounded like Alexander was trying to say that in the future, if the pact broke, it didn’t mean he died.

It was like he was reassuring Michelle.

Michelle rested her head against Alexander’s chest.

"You broke it on your own...?" it was a question, but so it seemed she was sure about the answer.

"Because you promised you would make me cry...?" she added.

Alexander looked down at Michelle in his arms.

"I won’t do something like that again," it was clear he didn’t want to see Michelle shaken up like that because of his actions again.

That made Michelle smile a bit.

"I didn’t ask for an apology..." she actually let out something like a laugh.

It seemed that having the great Dark Lord comfort her lifted her mood.

But that was mostly because she understood what was behind his apology; that he was being sincere.

"You are a strange woman..." Alexander couldn’t help but shake his head at Michelle’s response.

Michelle lifted her head to look up at Alexander’s face.

"But you love this strange woman."

As she said that, she lifted one of her hands to touch Alexander’s neck, specifically the back of his neck.

There, she summoned her shadow essence and sent it into Alexander’s neck.

"If you let it break again, I will personally kill you," she smiled brightly at Alexander as she felt a new Shadow Pact form between them, the pressure from it returning to her neck.

Alexander leaned against Michelle with his whole weight.

"If you killed me, would you be able to get rid of my body?" he asked carelessly.

But he didn’t let Michelle answer and instead moved on to what she said before that.

"Since I love you, what if I kidnapped you and took you with me to the Dark Palace?" Alexander’s tone made it sound like he was joking, but anyone who knew him well enough would know that if Michelle agreed, he would make the what‑if come true.

Michelle was already quite used to all the times Alexander leaned on her, so she didn’t have trouble supporting his weight when he leaned on her.

"And what would I do in your Dark Palace? Even you always say it’s a hellishly boring place." As she spoke, her smile progressively returned to how it usually was; that sometimes teasing, sometimes mischievous grin.

"Well, if I took you there, you would definitely get rid of the boredom," Alexander was actually quite interested in what Michelle would do if she entered the Dark Palace.

With the kind of person she was, she would definitely bring about great changes to the place.

Or chaos.

Michelle was about to answer when she sensed a presence approaching.

That was probably Francis Ostrich, or someone he sent to check on what was going on after the two teachers informed him that Alexander Terce brought a woman into the academy.

So, Michelle stepped back from Alexander.

When Alexander first appeared in the academy with Michelle, they made it look like Alexander and Ana Ostrich—Michelle in disguise—were in a secret, maybe even scandalous relationship.

So, that meant that when not staging as Ana, Michelle couldn’t be that close with Alexander in front of people from the academy.

Alexander also noticed the approaching presence, so he didn’t pull Michelle back to him.

Though he did not like that Michelle was staging as Ana, he wouldn’t blow her cover.

He already had the chance many times, but he never did.

A moment later, the person the presence belonged to entered.

"Vincent?" Michelle was a tad bit surprised to see him, since he was the second headmaster.

But maybe he came personally considering the fact that the news the two teachers brought were about Alexander.

And Alexander came to the academy because of Michelle, who was stationed as Ana, Vincent’s daughter.

So, anything that happened with Alexander could have something to do with Michelle, and that could blow her cover.

So, Vincent came personally.

That would greatly lessen the risk.

Seeing that the one who came was Vincent, someone who knew that Ana and Michelle were the same person, Alexander felt no need to keep his distance from Michelle.

So he leaned on her again, wrapping his arms around her.

"So the strange woman that appeared in the academy was you?" Vincent raised a brow.

He wasn’t expecting to see Michelle without the disguise mask.

Also, seeing her covered in blood, in torn clothes, and so close to Alexander, was unlike how he had seen her before.

Before Michelle disguised as Ana, Vincent had only ever seen Michelle when she was calm, negotiating with him systematically.

But at the moment, she looked somewhat of a mess.

Though there was also something about her messy state that made her look more composed, maybe even more regal than before.

"Are you planning to stay undisguised for some time, or is this temporary?" Vincent finally asked.

Depending on what Michelle wanted to do, the future plans could need to be changed.

"I’ll put the disguise mask back on soon," Michelle answered.

"So just tell people I had to deliver something to Alexander and already left."

Vincent was relieved to hear that, because that meant he didn’t have to make any changes to his plans.

So, to not raise suspicion, Vincent stayed in the courtyard for a while, so he wouldn’t return too early.

He was sent to the courtyard to find out who it was that Alexander brought to the academy.

So if he returned too quickly, it would raise suspicion.

While Vincent was in the courtyard, Michelle went into the room for a moment to get her disguise mask and fix her clothes.

And Alexander went with her, leaving Vincent alone.

In the room, Michelle didn’t even bother to wait for Alexander to turn around.

She knew he wouldn’t and would just watch.

After Michelle came out of the room with Alexander again, Vincent was prepared to leave.

He didn’t need to stay for too long, and he also had other things to do.

But before he left, he had one question for Michelle.

"The teachers mentioned that you had a red eye and that your blood had a sweet scent. What does that mean? Those usually mean Spirit Soul Blood, but there are no raging creatures around."

Standing right behind Michelle, Alexander frowned a bit.

If someone found out Michelle possessed the Spirit Soul Blood, things could be highly troublesome.

But when Alexander looked down at Michelle, she looked calm.

Like she wasn’t the least bit concerned about being exposed.
