Chapter 375: 375

Michelle looked at Vincent after he asked her about the Spirit Soul Blood, not the least bit surprised about his question.

It was to be expected considering the state she was in when the two teachers found her.

So, she had already thought of a way to get out of the trouble.

Naturally, the whole time, most of her attention had been on Alexander, but a part of her brain was working on what to say or do to prevent future problems.

"I don’t have Spirit Soul Blood," she answered calmly, not looking like she was lying.

"My eye sometimes turns red because of an artifact I possess, and my blood smells sweet because of a chronic poison."

Both those things were partially true.

Michelle did have an artifact that affected her eye color.

The Eye of Nihil, an upgrading artifact, was affecting her eye color, but not by turning her right eye red.

It was actually keeping her left eye constantly purple, even if her right eye turned red as a reaction to her intense emotions.

And that reaction was indeed caused by her Spirit Soul Blood.

As for the lie about the chronic poison, if someone examined Michelle for poison, they would find out her body was full of poison.

As the disciple of Mavreth, she had taken a lot of poisons, and though her body coped with them, there were traces left behind.

Those traces didn’t affect Michelle in any way, but they could easily fool healers.

Standing behind Michelle and hearing what she said, Alexander felt like laughing.

No one could really prove she possessed Spirit Soul Blood, especially since it didn’t attract beasts and monsters, which Spirit Soul Blood was supposed to do.

Well, but that was all because Michelle technically no longer possessed Spirit Soul Blood, since Spirit Soul Blood was reserved only for humans.

And Michelle wasn’t a human, nor exactly a monster, so those laws didn’t apply to her.

So even monsters and beasts, when they smelled her blood, hesitated and resisted the temptation of the sweet scent.

So, after Michelle spoke, Vincent couldn’t really refute.

Even if he believed she did have Spirit Soul Blood, insisting she had it would be the same as declaring that he would get her in trouble with the upper realm’s powerhouses, who would definitely at least closely watch her if there was a suspicion about her having Spirit Soul Blood.

If he did that, that would be the same as declaring war against Michelle, and Alexander who constantly stood behind her.

And Vincent still needed Michelle’s help with his plans, and he definitely didn’t want to anger Alexander.

He still didn’t know who Alexander was, but that guy had the presence of not only a killer, but also an overlord.

He definitely had a great force of subordinates under him.

So, Vincent left, promising to tell the other teachers that the strange woman that appeared in the academy was just a messenger and that she was already gone.

Once Vincent was gone, Michelle stretched her body lazily.

"So, what do we do now?" she looked over at Alexander.

At the same time, she finally put back on the disguise mask she went to get from the room.

While Vincent was still around, she didn’t bother to put it on.

Alexander once again leaned on Michelle.

He clearly enjoyed doing that.

"You could stay here with me..." he showed his usual smile.

"Or how about leaving this place? It’s boring here."

Michelle shook her head.

"This place isn’t boring. And I need to stay here for a while."

Alexander rolled his eyes.

"There are other places where you can cultivate to conceal your Spirit Soul Blood. You don’t need the Heart Twins."

"What about my training with the Julians brothers? I’m now both of theirs’ disciple." Michelle wasn’t planning to leave yet.

Alexander knew he couldn’t say anything more to that.

Even if he could teach Michelle the same things and more as Marcus and Antony Lucians, since she had already taken them as her masters, becoming their disciple, she would naturally stay to learn from them.

Since Alexander had nothing more to say, Michelle went to think about what to do next.

There were a few things she could do.

Check the dorm room to see the state of the gore there to understand better the person plotting against her.

Proceed her body‑tempering training to be able to control her movement to stay human.

Cultivate her spirit energy to finally completely conceal her Spirit Soul Blood.

Or train with Marcus or Antony in either concealment or detection.

Considering that there were already suspicions that she had Spirit Soul Blood, Michelle decided to go with cultivation.

She needed just a while for her spirit energy to stop carrying the traces of Spirit Soul Blood, so Michelle could once again start actively using it.

She did have soul energy and shadow essence to use since she had to hide away her spirit energy, but most of the time, it was quite annoying.

If she had been able to use spirit energy, life would have been much easier.

So, Michelle stayed in Alexander’s room, sitting down on the floor to start cultivating. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

Alexander let her do as she liked, not disturbing her.

He just stayed close and watched over her.

He stayed around to make sure no one would come into the room while she was there.

Michelle quickly lost track of time as she cultivated.

It felt completely different from when she had cultivated before.

Her veins were tingling as the new spirit energy passed through them.

It was a slightly prickly feeling, but at the same time oddly nice.

It was like her veins were taking the spirit energy into their walls, hungry for more.

All that was probably caused by the presence of the Heart Twins in the academy.

The Heart Twins released something into the air which made the spirit energy more active in a certain range.

And that range just about covered the whole academy.

To normal people, spirit energy being more active only meant that their cultivation would be faster and smoother.

But to a person with Spirit Soul Blood, the story was different.

Their veins and dantian would react to such spirit energy by pulling it in at tremendous speed, using it to create something of an imitation of spirit veins within the blood veins.

That would make it so if a Spirit Healer examined the person with Spirit Soul Blood, they would think they actually have separate spirit and blood veins.

That wouldn’t actually be the case, but no one could tell that.

In reality, it would still be a singular system of merged veins, but they would just be divided in half, making one side solely for blood, and the other for spirit energy.

That would create the illusion of two sets of veins while keeping the advantages of having merged veins.

But this change wouldn’t remove the sweet scent of the blood which would attract monsters and beasts, so the person would still have to be careful not to get hurt.

Because that could not only kill them if monsters or beasts ran at them, but could also expose them to the powerhouses who would hunt them down.

Michelle was aware that by cultivating in the spirit energy affected by the Heart Twins, her worries wouldn’t disappear, but there would at least be fewer things to worry about.

Unless Spirit Healers found a way to distinguish normal not‑merged spirit and blood veins, and the makeshift veins of a Spirit Soul Blood owner.

If that happened, Michelle would once again have that to worry about.

But, still, she doubted she would ever again have to worry about using her spirit energy.

With the Heart Twins around, her spirit energy should never again carry traces of Spirit Soul Blood.

After some time, Michelle started feeling the tingling in her veins slowly dissipating.

And after a bit more time, it was gone.

That showed the alterations in the veins were done.

Michelle stopped cultivating and opened her eyes.

"How long was I out for?" she looked over at Alexander.

He was sitting in a place where he would be in her line of sight the moment she opened her eyes.

"Four days..." he answered as he got up to walk over to Michelle.

Michelle got up from the ground, stretching her body.

"I expected it to take longer..."

As she spoke, she looked down at herself, wondering if the cultivation session brought up her power, or if it solely focused on her veins.

So, to check, she summoned her spirit energy, letting a bluish‑white mist float around her hand.

"Did my level increase?" she wasn’t exactly sure.

To further check it, Michelle mixed into the ice element mist her poison element spirit energy and dark element spirit energy, adding in purple and black.

Alexander also looked at the spirit energy Michelle had summoned.

"No, but you are close to breaking through a level."

That sentence made Michelle frown.

If she was close to a breakthrough, why wasn’t she feeling a bottleneck?

That always happened to at least some extent when she reached a new level.
