Chapter 378: 378

After the day and night after that passed, in the morning, Michelle was lying next to Alexander, her disguise mask discarded somewhere on the side of the bed.

Pressed against Alexander, her mind was partially still on all that had happened.

One thing she barely noticed throughout the night, but realized later, was that Nyxaroth, who always resided within her body, pulled himself into the contract space when she started talking with Alexander about who would lust over who.

He had no interest in witnessing what followed after.

Next to Michelle, Alexander was half‑awake, his gaze locked on Michelle.

That was until he noticed a presence approaching the barrier he had placed around the room.

"Someone’s coming..." he told Michelle.

Hearing that earned a sigh from Michelle.

So, she reached over the bed to the disguise mask and put it back on.

Then, she pulled some new clothes from her space and swiftly put them on.

Alexander summoned a bit more of his shadow essence and let it wrap around himself.

Like that, it formed into a black robe.

Then, he retracted the barrier around the room.

When the person outside saw that the barrier was gone, he came over to the door and knocked.

Alexander sent over a wisp of his shadow essence and it slid the door open.

"What is it?" he asked lazily.

Standing outside was a disciple of Francis.

"Teacher Terce, Lady Ana, the headmaster is calling for you."

Michelle furrowed her brows slightly and Alexander straight up frowned, not liking being disturbed.

But the two of them still went to the council building to go see Francis.

In the office, Francis was sitting at his desk, his expression dark as he stared at the two in front of him.

He didn’t exactly want to provoke Alexander, but he knew that what he was about to say wouldn’t be pleasing to his ears.

"What did you call us for, uncle?" Michelle was the first one to speak.

"And why so early in the morning?" she added.

Francis finally spoke. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

"Since Sir Terce had agreed to be a guest teacher of this academy, he should abide by the teacher protocol. How could he let a student stay overnight in his sleeping quarters?"

Michelle’s gaze flickered with annoyance.

"Uncle..." she didn’t say anything other than that, but her meaning was obvious.

Alexander was her lover, so why couldn’t she stay with him.

Francis didn’t think that the one to protest first would be Michelle, and not Alexander.

Though Alexander’s expression was quite dangerous, to say the least.

"Ana Ostrich, it’s inappropriate and against morals for a student and a teacher to be in a relationship! Since Teacher Terce is only a guest teacher, I won’t forbid it, but the two of you can’t do anything scandalous! To the eyes of others, you have to look like you have an ordinary teacher‑student relationship!" Francis decided to take on a commanding stance.

But the moment he raised his voice, Alexander raised his hands to cover Michelle’s ears, his gaze coldly locking on Francis.

A warning.

Francis nearly instantly lost his commanding presence, shrinking his neck back.

In reality, what was happening was according to Michelle’s plan and Alexander was aware of it.

What he was doing at the moment was partially acting, partially real.

He did feel like tearing Francis apart, but that would be along with the whole academy.

Michelle reached up to take a hold of Alexander’s wrists and pull his hands away from her ears.

"Uncle, I can’t promise you that," she smiled sweetly, but something in her eyes was cold.

Suddenly, Francis felt like he was cornered by two massive forces supporting one another.

But that made no sense.

As far as he knew, Ana Ostrich was extremely weak, even if she did go through body‑tempering.

Her cultivation was at the low levels of the Divine rank, so no matter what skills she possessed, within that rank, she was just a weakling and a cripple.

So why was her presence so intimidating?

Francis’ gaze traveled to Alexander.

With how powerful that man was, it could as well be possible for him to give Ana something that would fix her cultivation problems.

Or just boost her power.

Suddenly, Francis felt scared of his niece.

Also, the sentence she had last said greatly bothered him.

She was blatantly telling him that she would defy him and the rules of the academy, even if it caused a scandal.

But he couldn’t even fight back against the disrespect.

"Ana, how could you act like this towards your uncle?" he decided to try playing an emotional card.

What a pity that the Ana he was talking with wasn’t the real Ana Ostrich but Michelle Grace.

"Uncle?" she scoffed.

"Just because I call you an uncle, doesn’t mean you’ve ever acted like one," her eyes were cold.

"If it wasn’t for my father, you would never have done anything for my benefit."

Michelle nitpicked on everything Francis would react to.

He wasn’t really fond of Ana Ostrich, but he did regret never really helping her, especially after she was supposedly kidnapped from the academy and nearly killed.

It not only wounded his pride, that he couldn’t protect someone in his academy, but also made him conscious about the fact that he wasn’t really all that caring towards this weak niece.

Still, even if he was feeling guilty about all that, he couldn’t let Ana cause a scandal with a guest teacher.

Not only would it drag the academy through the mud, but even the elders back in the Ostrich Family Residence would start getting involved.

Those old fogies, to punish or restrain her, would definitely do something foolish like instantly arranging an engagement for her, and then, who knew what Alexander would do.

Though Francis had only interacted with Alexander a few times, he could see that he not only loved Michelle, but he was deeply obsessed with her.

He wouldn’t let the family off if they tried to engage her to someone else.

Francis didn’t want to see his family annihilated, because it was clear Alexander was able to do just that.

If Michelle heard Francis’ train of thought, she would be impressed by his ability to read people.

From the start, Alexander was only showing antagonistic stances, and except the time when he pressed a teacher into a wall, he never got violent.

So the fact that Francis could see that he had a knack for annihilation meant he was excellent at reading people.

A pity that Michelle couldn’t read Francis’ thoughts.

"Ana, if you refuse to act within some boundaries, the family elders will take actions. You wish for that?" Francis finally decided to be at least partially truthful.

Michelle shrugged.

"Uncle, do you think I will let those sets of sagging skin and bones meddle in my life? They can try and see what I would do!"

Francis really didn’t know what to do.

Since even partial truth didn’t work, all he could try was come clean, but would that make any changes?

With the stance Michelle was taking, he highly doubted that.

So, he could only try reaching a compromise with Michelle.

"Ana, I’m not telling you this as the headmaster. Please, even if you do wish to act like lovers with Sir Terce, at least make sure to sleep at your dorm to prevent scandals too big."

He had given up on trying for the two to not cause any scandals.

But he at least wanted to keep things within some boundaries.

Michelle looked over at Alexander before speaking again.

"Well, he can always sneak into my dorm, so I can do as you wish with this."

At those words, Francis felt like he would choke on his own breath.

If the situation was different, such level of disrespect from a student would be greatly punished.

But what could Francis do against Ana when Alexander was standing right behind her?

"But make sure you don’t get caught..." he sighed.

He had basically agreed for the two of them to meet up whenever they liked.

The helplessness Francis was feeling was suffocating.

He had no control over what would happen next in the academy.

He could just wish that nothing would happen that would cause Alexander to suddenly decide to start killing people.

In other words, Francis had to pray nothing would happen to Michelle while she was in the academy.

A while later, Alexander and Michelle walked out of the council building.

Michelle had her hand looped around Alexander’s arm, not caring about the gazes that moved to her and Alexander.

It was obvious that rumors would soon proceed to spread.

But at the moment, no one yet knew what Alexander looked like, so it would just be said that the lover of Ana Ostrich was within the sect.

Only when Alexander would be introduced as the new guest teacher would the rumors spiral out of control.

Oh, how happy was Michelle for that to happen.

She just needed to wait a few more days.

Then the chaos she wanted would ensue.
