Chapter 379: 379

Michelle walked with Alexander to the dorm building.

There, she told him to leave and go back to his courtyard.

It was a girls’ dorm building, so even if Michelle wanted to cause a scandal, it wouldn’t be by bringing a man into the dormitories in the morning, when some students were still sleeping.

She wanted scandal, not an outbreak of rage.

Before Alexander left, he gave Michelle one thing, because she asked for it.

It was the body‑tempering cube into whose space Michelle got pulled.

It was already in pieces since Alexander had broken it.

Michelle put the pieces away into a pocket in the inside of her sleeve before going to her room.

She wanted to do one last thing before resuming her academy activities.

Specifically, it was to get back to the training Mavreth gave her.

Before she had left his sect, Michelle promised Mavreth she would take some poison every day, but she somehow ended up not doing it.

She forgot about it with all the things that were going on.

So, it was about time to get back to it.

Once inside her room, Michelle reached into her space and took out a single jade bottle with a red string tied around the bottleneck.

That signaled the poison was the kind that was to be inserted into the bloodstream.

Michelle actually picked that bottle out at random.

She didn’t want to think too much about what to choose.

All she cared about was that Mavreth told her that if she picked out a poison which would have long‑lasting effects, or make her unable to function for a while, the bottle would have an additional string on the bottleneck.

The one she took out didn’t have one, so she could use it without any worries.

So, Michelle let a single pill roll out of the bottle and put it in a small bowl where she crushed it with a small dasher.

And to her surprise, when she crushed it, the pieces that were on the inside of the pill started melting into a paste.

It was like only the outer shell could remain solid when touching air, and the rest of the pill reacted to it.

Michelle didn’t know whether that happening would somehow affect the effects of the poison, but she still decided to try it.

So, she used her spirit energy to make a small cut on her palm, just beneath her thumb, and pressed that wound into the bowl with the paste.

Then, she just waited for a reaction.

But when nothing was happening even after half an hour, Michelle decided to be reckless and go on do her things.

And the first thing she was planning to do was finally going to Lucas so he could examine what changes happened to her movement since she had been in the body‑tempering cube’s space.

Like always, Lucas was at the training grounds, observing the students as they trained and pointing out their mistakes.

So, Michelle stayed back, not wanting to disturb the training.

She leaned on the wall which went around the training grounds, waiting.

That way, she could also watch the kind of training Lucas put his other students through.

Michelle stayed in that spot for a good two hours before Lucas let the students train alone.

He turned around to go do other things when he spotted Michelle leaning on the wall.

"When did you come here?" he walked over.

Michelle shrugged a bit.

"Not that long ago."

It wasn’t even a lie, because compared to the time of supposedly short cultivations, which stretched at least for days, two hours were really not that long.

Lucas nodded a bit, looking over Michelle.

As a body‑tempering teacher, it was natural that he always checked his students’ stance whenever he saw them.

"The cube’s space seems to have greatly benefited you. Your stance is more natural now."

Michelle was a bit surprised that he saw it so quickly, when she was just lazily leaning on a wall.

For a while, Michelle and Lucas talked as they walked to the area with the wall with the hanging hooks.

Michelle had always trained there, so it seemed logical to continue things like that.

To fully grasp the changes in Michelle’s body, Lucas wanted her to once again climb a rope tied to one of the hooks.

Lucas still remembered how she did it the first time, so he wanted to see the differences.

Thinking about the situation, Michelle decided that this time, she wouldn’t hold herself back.

Back when she was first climbing the rope, she pretended to struggle because she was staging as Ana Ostrich, a girl who had never been trained before.

But at the moment, the Ana Ostrich she was staging as was someone who had gone through training under Lucas for a while before entering a body‑tempering space.

Vast differences were to be expected.

So, Michelle put her hands on the rope and started climbing, her movement fast and agile.

Lucas watched her closely, observing as every joint in her body moved and how her muscles flexed under her skin.

It was definitely different compared to before, but not in the system of the movement.

What was different was the extent of her mobility, especially the mobility of her joints.

Basically, her movement was more extreme than before.

Before going to the body‑tempering space, Michelle’s movement was already inhuman, but it was still within some bounds.

But at the moment, those bounds seemed to have been completely broken; though Michelle was standing and walking upright like humans did, even that upright posture was inhuman.

So when she was climbing the rope, it was even more visible.

Even to someone like Lucas, who was used to seeing students with strange physiques and training them, seeing Michelle like that was highly disturbing.

In just a few seconds, Michelle had her hands on the hook at the top of the wall, hanging from it.

Hanging like that actually felt nice as it stretched her body, especially her spine.

Liking the feeling, Michelle let all her body except her arms relax, just hanging from the hook and looking down at Lucas.

"What now, teacher?" she asked.

Seeing that when hanging down, Michelle’s posture resembled that of a human the most, Lucas had an idea.

"Do you still have the goal of making your movement as human as possible?" he asked.

Michelle nodded.

"That is still my aim."

She was still hanging by her hands as she answered.

Her answer made Lucas frown a bit.

"Well, because even though I made you train to move more human‑like, after being in the tempering space, your moving patterns got even more extreme than before."

Michelle raised a brow and let go of the hook to land on the ground.

She landed into a squat, her hands touching the ground palms‑down.

"So, what now?" she asked as she raised and straightened her back.

Even the way she stood up was a bit strange.

The whole time she moved, she kept her hands as low as possible, not using them to push herself up or anything.

While she was in the squat, her hands were in front of her, and as she stood up, she straightened them to stay low before letting them hang by her sides.

Lucas watched her move and was so disturbed by it that though it never really happened to him, he felt an itch on the back of his neck.

And his heartbeat got slightly faster.

Still, he spoke:

"Your posture is the most human when you are hanging by your hands, so it will most probably benefit you if you do it. Or you will lose your humanity even in that. It’s a 1 to 1 chance, so you can bet on it."

Michelle nodded to that.

So, after bending her knees slightly, she jumped up and caught on the rope, proceeding to climb it up to the hook again.

When Michelle was up there, Lucas told her a few more ways he thought of.

If she engaged in a hand‑to‑hand combat with someone, it could force her to use human movements at least to some extent.

Another thing was, she could train martial arts every day, because those were focused on human physique and human movement.

And the last idea Lucas had was just have her go through brutal physical training which would push her body to its limits.

Naturally, all those methods could backfire, and just make her modify all the techniques she would learn in the training for her monster movement.

The only one who could prevent that would be herself.

She would have to stay highly focused on not letting herself slip into inhuman movements, otherwise she would have a very hard time getting rid of it.

Because gaining bad habits was easy, but getting rid of or changing them was extremely hard.

And if they were based on one’s own physique, it was basically impossible.

So, Michelle basically had to learn to defy her own body and go against it.

And it was all so her own body wouldn’t get her into trouble she wouldn’t be able to get out of.

Because who knew how people would react if they found out she was no longer a human and that because of that even the Heavenly Law ignored her very existence.

All she could guess was that it wouldn’t be a pleasant reaction.
