The Ex-Wife's Revenge: Rise of the Real Heiress.-Chapter 180: William’s decision
Beatrice’s head turned into a complete mess as soon as she heard those words.
She quickly snatched the report from the doctor’s hand to read it herself.
However, when she read the word ’positive’ in bold letters, the color drained from her face as she sat on the bed, unsure how to handle this.
She had orchestrated all that drama just to gain everyone’s attention on herself so Andrew wouldn’t confess to Elara. Who would’ve thought this lie would expose her like this?
Andrew was just sitting outside, and if he heard the word, he would definitely not accept her as his wife, not with a child in her womb that didn’t even belong to him.
She clenched her fingers.
"As a doctor, you must ensure a patient’s right to privacy, right? You won’t say a word about this to anyone sitting outside. If they ask you why I fainted, just tell them it was some BP issue or whatever medical terms you can pull off. We are going through a tough phase where we are considering divorce. This pregnancy will complicate everything. Please," Beatrice’s eyes brimmed with tears.
The doctor looked at the girl before he sighed in sympathy.
"Don’t worry, Miss. I understand your dilemma. We won’t disclose the diagnosis without your permission. Besides, they are your friends. No one signed up as your family," The doctor said before he told the nurse a few things and left.
Beatrice sat back in the bed with the reports in her hand. The word ’positive’ glared at her like it was some kind of curse meant to destroy whatever she had worked so hard for.
The more she looked at the blue file, the more hatred grew inside her, and she quickly hid the file under the pillow, wiping the tears when she heard someone fumbling with the doorknob.
"You are awake," Andrew said as soon as he entered.
Beatrice smiled weakly.
"Yeah. I am—"
"Oh dear, you are awake. We were so worried about you. How are you feeling now? Are you feeling nauseous or dizzy? Should we call the doctor? Where is he?"
Sophia walked in with the same sickeningly sweet, concerned expression, interrupting what Beatrice was saying.
The woman rushed to Beatrice and hugged her as if she were the most worried of all, but Beatrice, who could smell the scent of food on her, couldn’t help but smile in mockery.
She said she was worried about her. Does being worried include dining at the finest restaurant and not even being there when the patient wakes up?
Beatrice improved her expression, since she was partly glad for the woman’s presence as well. After all, in her presence, Andrew wouldn’t ask any personal questions of her.
"I am feeling much better now, Aunt Sophia. Thank you for caring so much. You guys are all I have here," Beatrice said, and Sophia smiled.
Carla looked at her with a neutral expression.
"What did the doctor say?" Carla asked.
"It’s nothing. I think it was a blood pressure issue. I had been moving here and there, barely eating anything because of the tight schedule of the shoot," Beatrice said.
"So you are not pregnant?" Carla asked, still a bit suspicious.
Beatrice chuckled awkwardly.
"No. I mean...I don’t know. It’s just the first thing that came to my head," Beatrice said.
Carla’s expression didn’t get any better.
"And why would that be the first thing to come to your mind? Until you are seeing someone," Carla said.
Beatrice smiled inwardly.
That was precisely why she liked Carla the most among the Lloyd family’s other family members. That girl was so stupid and naive that her useless attitude always worked in her favour.
"Because..." Beatrice bit her bottom lip and looked at Andrew, her eyes holding a sense of insecurity.
She deliberately blinked her eyes, as if silently asking whether she was allowed to speak about it.
The people in the room were no fools and immediately looked at Andrew.
"What is going on, Andrew?" Williams asked from behind the man, and Andrew turned around, wide-eyed.
"Grandpa, what are you doing here? You should’ve rested at home," Andrew quickly supported his grandpa.
The old man scoffed.
"So much happened at my house. Do you think I would have the heart to stay at home and wait for everyone to tell me what is going on with my family?" Williams asked.
Andrew helped Williams onto the sofa in the room before standing before everyone.
"Now don’t stay silent and tell us the truth. Why is Beatrice looking at you when everyone is asking about her pregnancy doubt? Have you guys been seeing each other?" Williams asked.
Andrew knew his grandpa never liked the girl. It was the main reason he ended up marrying Elara: the old man would disapprove of Beatrice.
"I... we haven’t been seeing each other but... I slept with her two nights ago. It’s something I should be ashamed of. I was drunk and mistook her for Elara, and then..." Andrew didn’t hide the truth from his family.
Sophia gasped, not because her son slept with Beatrice but because he slept with her, thinking it was Elara.
Williams closed his eyes, disappointment evident on his face.
Carla, on the other hand, looked at Beatrice with raised brows.
"So if you were to be pregnant right now, it would be my brother’s child?" Carla asked.
Beatrice didn’t answer, just looking down at her hands nervously.
Her little action was more than enough for everyone to know the truth.
"I am sorry, Grandpa. Please forgive me. I know what I did was wrong and something I should be ashamed of. I am ready to repent for my sins. Please forgive me," Andrew fell on Williams’ foot.
The old man hit his cane on the ground before looking away. He tried hard, really hard, to protect his family from a cunning girl like Beatrice.
He had no bad blood with her personally, but on the first day she arrived at their house, she broke a vase. It wasn’t a big problem. Things happen all the time.
However, the vase was imported from Italy, and Sophia loved it dearly.
Rather than apologizing for her mistakes, she blamed the maid who came to clean them up. He heard it all from his secretary, who never lied to him. The maid ended up taking the punishment and was thrown out of the house, but not before being beaten by Sophia.
And Beatrice never sympathized with the girl; instead, she fanned the flames.
That was when he knew the girl wasn’t good for his grandson, who, though negligent, had a good heart. Besides, he needed at least one good person in his family.
But who would’ve thought all that hard work would end up with nothing? It just resulted in Elara’s life taking the blow. That poor girl suffered so much because of his desire, and there was nothing he could do to make up for it.
William shook his head before he looked at his grandson.
"It’s okay. You loved her in the past. I should’ve allowed it when you mentioned it the first time. Prepare for the engagement. I don’t care what you thought she was; you need to take responsibility for your actions. That’s how it should be. That’s who we are."
Williams stood from the sofa and walked out of the room with his secretary’s help, leaving Andrew speechless.
