The exorcism began in America.-Chapter 318: Jumping Off the Building
"Fuck!"
Upon hearing this voice, Monte, who was already prepared, knew at once that the bizarre game had found him.
Fortunately, he was already psychologically prepared.
"I choose Truth!"
As he had anticipated, by choosing Truth, as long as he told the truth, he should be able to pass the stage directly according to the rules of the game.
But he hadn't expected Bizarre's next words to shatter his illusions.
"Sorry, the game doesn't work like that!"
The Bizarre's voice rang out again, causing Monte's expression to change drastically.
"What do you mean? I've clearly made my choice! According to the rules, all you have to do next is ask a question!"
"Sorry, but now you can only choose Dare! Two Truths, one Dare—this... is the rule!"
The words from the other end of the phone suddenly reminded Monte of the rules "Sam" had set yesterday.
Whenever two people chose Truth, the third person had to choose Dare.
"Damn it!"
Monte hadn't expected that the small restriction set before the game started yesterday would put him directly in jeopardy today.
Considering this now, Legley and Daster, who were already dead, must have both chosen Truth.
Could it be that they both lied?
A somewhat flustered Monte immediately hung up the phone and rushed towards the Exorcism Agency building.
Now, only the Exorcists inside can protect me!
The moment he entered the building, he bumped straight into Pietro.
But before he could speak, he saw Pietro's face morph into a grotesque appearance.
"The Dare begins! Go to the rooftop and experience the thrill of freefall!"
The Bizarre's voice spoke words that sent a shiver down his spine.
The Dare is to jump from a building?
Although the Exorcism Agency building wasn't very high, it still had five floors.
From a height of nearly twenty meters, the outcome of jumping is obvious!
The next second, the scene before Monte's eyes returned to normal.
"Monte," Pietro said, his face now normal, "Jennifer just told us that the game's tasks must be completed diligently, or else we'll be forced to commit suicide under its control."
Listening to Pietro, whose face had returned to normal, Monte's eye twitched slightly.
Wouldn't jumping from the building result in death anyway?
"Mine is the Dare. I have to jump from the rooftop of this building!"
"What?"
Pietro was shocked. He hadn't expected the game to target Monte so quickly.
"Why would you choose Dare?"
"Think about the rules Sam set before the game started!" After a brief answer, Monte pushed Pietro aside and ran quickly toward the building's elevator.
Fifth floor... If I'm lucky, there should be a chance to survive, right?
Watching the elevator ascend floor by floor, Pietro immediately hurried towards Jennifer, who had just come out of the reception room.
"Miss... Miss, that game..."
After hearing Pietro's words, Jennifer's expression changed instantly.
Damn it, how dare that Bizarre thing cause trouble in the Exorcism Agency building?
After whispering a few words into the communicator by her ear, Jennifer immediately ran out of the building.
The next second, the sound of hurried footsteps resonated throughout the building.
Pietro watched as one Exorcist after another, their faces stern, swept past him and headed straight outside.
"Xie Te!"
Standing on the rooftop, Monte felt for the first time that the wind was surprisingly strong.
It was strong enough to make him, standing at the edge of the roof, feel unsteady.
Peering down at the scene below, he felt his heart pound wildly.
Although he wasn't afraid of heights, the thought of jumping from this altitude definitely tested his psychological limits.
At that moment, he desperately wished everything happening today was just a nightmare.
"Fuck! I should never have agreed to this trip!"
Monte, his legs trembling, cursed aloud, trying to alleviate the fear in his heart.
But the Bizarre game obviously wouldn't give him that much time.
The Strength that had somehow entered his body was now beginning to stir!
He felt as if there was another person inside him, one filled with malice. Under these circumstances, Monte finally clenched his teeth, abruptly closed his eyes, and stepped forward.
"He jumped!"
Below the building, someone cried out.
The Exorcists from the Exorcism Agency, already prepared, leaped into action.
When Monte opened his eyes again, he found himself lying intact on the ground.
He didn't feel even the slightest pain anywhere on his body.
"I... I survived?"
A surge of elation from having survived a disaster instantly filled Monte's mind.
After hastily patting down his body, he finally sensed that something around him was off.
Looking up, he saw several pairs of eyes staring at him.
"Uh... hello, everyone..."
After his awkward greeting, a figure suddenly appeared in front of him.
"Are you alright, Monte?"
"I'm fine," Monte replied, standing up with Pietro's help, immensely relieved. "A bit shaken, but at least I've finished this damned game!"
"Right!" Monte suddenly remembered something and quickly looked around. "Where's Camille? According to the order, it's her turn next!"
"Camille!"
Hearing this, Pietro's expression changed drastically. Without looking back, he dashed into the building.
"Congratulations on surviving the first round of the game," Jennifer said to Monte in a subdued tone. She seemed to have appeared out of nowhere.
"The first round?" Monte stiffened. "I've completed it. Isn't it over yet?"
"Want it to end?" Jennifer shook her head. "Not unless you're dead! Otherwise, it will keep cycling..."
"Keep... cycling..."
Monte stood there, stunned, unable to process it for a long time.
Doesn't that mean if this game never ends, we'll be tormented by it until we die?
"Fu...ck..."
He uttered a trembling curse, then collapsed, clutching his head and crouching on the ground.
That single jump had nearly drained all his courage.
He couldn't imagine taking that step again if he had to.
"Let's go back."
Seeing his breakdown, Jennifer waved her hand dismissively and led the Exorcism Agency members away.
The man needed some quiet space.
「Later」
"Michelle, do you think this could be a prank?" Lilia asked, having just hung up the phone. She looked questioningly at her best friend, who was lounging on the sofa wearing a face mask.
"The voice and tone sounded pretty real," Michelle said, shrugging from the sofa, "but he actually said Legley is dead?!"
"You saw how she was when she left with that hunk last night, didn't you? I'd rather believe she's still in bed 'fighting' with that man..."
