The Extra Villain: I Made a Contract With The Dragon Empress!-Chapter 341: Nysera’s Plea for Help (2)
"A descendant of the Divine Dragon Calystron?" Merlin was taken aback. "What do you mean?"
Nysera stared into his eyes, as if trying to determine whether he was lying.
Once she was certain there was no deception, she let out a long sigh and began to explain why she had said that.
Merlin listened carefully, and soon he understood.
"So you sensed a dragon’s power within me, and you also saw the avatar of a giant dragon behind me when I attacked you earlier?" he repeated, rubbing his chin.
"Something like that." Nysera gave a small nod. "That dragon avatar was terrifying. I could even feel pressure in my bloodline. That’s why I’m certain it was the mighty Calystron, and you must be his descendant. Even if you’re not, you must be connected to him, right?" 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
She stepped forward, unconsciously bringing her face closer to Merlin’s.
Merlin was startled by her sudden movement and took a step back.
"Hah..." He let out a long sigh, then smiled. "You do have sharp eyes. I’m not a descendant of Calystron, but I am connected to him."
That answer made Nysera’s eyes light up. But before she could say a single word, Merlin continued, "But it seems you’ve misunderstood. The dragon avatar you saw earlier wasn’t Calystron. It was..."
His voice trailed off as Merlin remembered he couldn’t reveal Lyserra’s identity to anyone, including Nysera.
Seeing him fall silent, Nysera’s curiosity only grew stronger. But she was perceptive enough to understand.
If Merlin was holding back, then he must be hiding a major secret. Nysera had secrets of her own, so she didn’t press him.
"I see. Even if you’re not a descendant of the Divine Dragon Calystron, the fact that you’re connected to him is still incredible," she said enthusiastically.
Merlin was also somewhat curious about Calystron’s status among the dragons. As far as he knew, that golden dragon was merely a dragon spirit, not a true dragon.
Could he really hold such a high position within the dragon race?
Unable to contain his curiosity any longer, he asked, "May I ask how the dragons view Calystron?"
Nysera nodded and began recounting Calystron’s story among the dragon race.
It took her about ten minutes to finish. By the time she was done, Merlin had a pretty good understanding of the golden dragon.
’He’s considered a messenger of the Dragon God, is he?’ Merlin murmured in awe. ’I didn’t expect his status to be that high.’
To the dragon race, Calystron wasn’t just a dragon spirit but a figure of extraordinary status.
The dragons respected him and even worshipped him. Many ancient dragon texts recorded his greatness.
Merlin couldn’t help but recall how pitiful Calystron had looked when Lyserra beat him. If not for Merlin’s intervention back then, Calystron might have truly died.
If the dragon race ever found out about that incident, Merlin was curious how they would react.
That would certainly be interesting.
"So that’s how it is. I never expected something like that. If I’d known sooner, I would’ve told Calystron how highly the dragon race regards him."
Merlin put on an admiring look.
Nysera looked excited when she heard his words. She herself greatly admired Calystron.
So when someone praised him, she couldn’t help but feel happy as well.
"By the way, Merlin Clay—"
"Just call me Merlin," Merlin cut in.
Nysera hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "By the way, Merlin... I’d like to ask for your help. Is... that okay?"
Her fingers were intertwined, and her expression looked shy and hesitant.
"Ask for my help?" Merlin raised an eyebrow. "What is it?"
Nysera paused for a second. She calmed her restless heart, then said in a quiet voice, "Would it be okay if someday, when you return to the Holy Kingdom of Aldoria, you take me with you?"
Merlin was startled. His expression turned wary as he asked, "What do you mean?"
Nysera realized her words sounded vague and quickly explained, "It’s like this. I have a flaw, and it’s embarrassing. But I believe only you can help me."
Merlin didn’t interrupt her and simply waited for her to continue.
"The dragon race carries dragon blood within them. However, only a few manage to awaken it," Nysera said in a low voice. "I’m a silver dragon, and my status is also quite high—the daughter of the head of the Silver Dragon Clan."
There was no pride in her tone, as if that status had brought her nothing but trouble.
Nysera lifted her head. Her face looked calm, yet a cold haze seemed to surround her, making her appear distant.
"But I was not born a legitimate princess. I am an illegitimate child."
The moment those words left her mouth, the air turned silent. Nysera bit her lower lip, watching Merlin closely for his reaction.
Usually, once people learned her identity, they would look down on her and even avoid her.
But this time, she was surprised. Merlin remained calm, showing no sign of disgust at all.
"Why are you just standing there? Continue," Merlin urged.
"Ah! Alright..." Nysera felt confused, but she didn’t know what to say. She steadied herself, then continued, "I cannot awaken my bloodline. Among the Silver Dragon Clan, I am considered... trash."
Her hands clenched tightly as she said the word "trash."
She was a member of the dragon race. Pride was etched into her very bones.
Yet she had failed to awaken her bloodline—a failure that, to them, meant she had failed as a Silver Dragon.
Merlin pondered her words and recalled Nysera’s bloodline status—inactive.
Back then, he had thought there was something wrong with her body. It seemed he was right.
"I understand your situation now. But why do you want to meet Calystron? Is it related to your bloodline?" he guessed.
Nysera nodded quickly. "Yes, it’s related to my bloodline! I once read an ancient book in my home library. It said that all dragons possess a bloodline, and the only way to awaken it is through the awakening ceremony. Most assume that failing the ceremony means failing forever, but that book told a different story."
She swallowed hard and stared at Merlin intently.
"The blessing of the Divine Dragon Calystron has that power. So... can you help me meet him?" Nysera asked in a weak voice, biting her lower lip.
Truthfully, she felt embarrassed to ask him this. After all, she and Merlin weren’t close. But she had no other choice.
Meanwhile, Merlin was somewhat taken aback by her explanation.
’Calystron’s blessing can awaken a dragon’s bloodline? That’s news to me,’ he muttered.
He glanced at Nysera’s hopeful face and was about to say, "Of course," but stopped himself immediately.
The meat was practically placed right in front of him. How could he just let it go?
With a troubled expression, he shook his head and said helplessly, "I’m sorry. I can’t help you."
