Chapter 277: Hottest At The Party

"I can’t do that," Raymond cut in.

"You can’t do what?"

"Everything. I can’t break up with you and I won’t stop coming to see you," he stated.

Cyprian was completely overwhelmed. Wasn’t Raymond the one who had wanted to break up?

"What—"

As soon as she opened her mouth to speak, Raymond walked away from her and headed towards the entrance of the building.

"Where are you going?" Cyprian called after him.

"In," he answered.

"In where? This is not your house!" she yelled. With the way he seemed set on entering, she felt he had an ulterior motive to following her inside that building. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

"I didn’t say it was. I came to visit someone here," Raymond informed.

"Who?" Cyprian questioned, picking up her pace to match his quick footsteps. The two had gotten past the lobby and were now waiting for the elevator.

"Don’t worry, I won’t go into your house without permission. And besides, I’m not here to see you," Raymond reassured her, but his words did nothing to reduce the curiosity in Cyprian’s heart.

The elevator doors opened and he stepped in, followed closely by Cyprian who still had that questioning look in her eyes. He ignored her and pressed the button leading to her apartment floor.

"That’s my floor. Which floor are you visiting?"

Raymond sighed, "You are awfully curious for someone who wants us to avoid each other. But I’ll let you go for tonight, I have something else to do." He raised his hand to tuck an escaped tendril of Cyprian’s hair behind her ear, a tired smile on his face.

Startled, Cyprian stood in that same position until the elevator dinged and the doors opened, jolting her. She rushed out of the elevator and straight to her door, punching in the passcode with the speed of a lightning. She had opened the door before realizing there was something wrong.

Raymond was not following her.

She turned to look behind her to see him standing before Callum’s door and staring straight at her.

"What are you doing over there?" she questioned.

"Waiting. I told him I’m here already so the door will be opened soon. You should go inside," he replied.

"Not until you tell me why you’re visiting my brothers. Don’t tell me they want to plead with you on my behalf."

"I don’t understand what you’re saying, but in my opinion I think it’s the opposite," Raymond shrugged. To his own understanding, he was the one to plead with her and not vice versa as she was thinking. What was even going on in her mind that prompted her to presume her brothers wanted to plead on her behalf?

Just then, the door opened and Callum’s head popped out. He glanced alternately at his sister and Raymond.

"Are you coming in or not?" His question was directed at Raymond.

"I am." With one last glance at Cyprian, he pulled open the door and stepped in after Callum, a voice resounding at the back of his mind.

"And when you’re ready to take the blame for what you did to our sister, you can come back. We can’t just let you back into her life after hurting her that much."

It was Cyprian’s eldest brother’s words on the day Raymond was informed of her miscarriage from five years ago.

Outside the door, Cyprian was in a similar state as Raymond who had just entered. Fresh guilt was gnawing at her heart as she stood in one spot, her memories transported back to five years ago.

Raymond had left in a hurry that morning with the excuse that his boss had an urgent assignment for him and Cyprian hadn’t bothered to question it. She simply held onto his promise to be back in a month and though she had thought it would be easy to endure his absence, her mindset transformed when a week passed by without a word from him.

She was lonely, and there was no one to keep her company. Shikera was in the hospital, unconscious, and each of her brother’s were occupied in one way or the other. In essence, there was no one to keep her out of boredom except her roommate Alicia, who was actually a very good company but also a pessimistic individual.

That particular day, Alicia had knocked on Cyprian’s door.

"Come out, Girl! It’s Friday today and you need to come out of that room you’ve cooped yourself in. There’s this party on campus—"

"Just go by yourself. I won’t go," Cyprian had interrupted, throwing the sheets over her face. It was true that she was bored but she knew a party wasn’t the solution to this.

Raymond was. Or Shikera. Or her brothers.

Anything beyond those three options, she knew it wouldn’t work. But Alicia was super persistent on that very day.

"Don’t do this, Rian. I can’t leave you all alone at home for a party. And besides, I’m damn sure you don’t want to miss this either," she coerced.

Mumbling to herself, Cyprian roused from her bed and walked to the door, pulling it open just enough for her to see Alicia’s face.

"Don’t even try, Alicia. My head hurts so much, I don’t think I can go," she muttered, to see Alicia roll her eyes.

"Rian, you know yourself that the best cure to such an headache as yours is a very hot party. Like it or not, we will be leaving for that party together!"

With that, Alicia pushed her way into the room, pulling Cyprian with her to the closet.

"I will make you into the sexiest girl at the party tonight!" she promised, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

Cyprian surrendered to Alicia hands, enduring the pulling and snatching which her body was subjected to all through the makeover. An hour later, Alicia announced she was done and lead Cyprian to the mirror to check out her self.

"Woah!" A delighted exclamation escaped Cyprian’s mouth at how she looked. She sure was going to be one of the hottest at the party, if not the hottest as Alicia had promised.
