The Faceless Billionaire Celebrity Wife-Chapter 278: Who Is Pregnant?
"Woah!" A delighted exclamation escaped Cyprian’s mouth at how she looked. She sure was going to be one of the hottest at the party, if not the hottest as Alicia had promised.
"Glad you like it. Now get yourself in the mood with the wine on the table. I’ll go get ready and be back in thirty minutes," Alicia stated and walked out of the room.
Cyprian went to pick up her glass and poured in the wine. She didn’t bother checking if it was alcoholic or not. She didn’t care.
She lifted the glass to her mouth and downed it in one go, before pouring another glass for herself. She continued like that for the next thirty minutes until Alicia came.
Within an hour, the two arrived at the bubbling campus party, drawing attention to themselves as soon as the walked in. Screams of excitement from the overly cheerful girls and whistles of delight from the boys rented the air when Alicia, with her epic smile made a 360° turn for them.
"Woohoo!"
"Alice sure lights up the party!"
Waving like a celebrity in a fan meeting, Alicia took in all their praises and jokingly bowed slightly. Placing a hand on Cyprian’s back in a protective manner, she made to lead her to their seats with the host of the party when a loud scream from within the crowd stopped them.
"How about your partner also gives us a 360?!"
"Hmmmm," Alicia tilted her head, pretending to think about it. But Cyprian already knew the answer would be positive.
She herself wouldn’t have hesitated to do it but not with her mood tonight. She just wanted to sleep somewhere and let the day pass away on its own.
"Don’t bother thinking about it. I won’t agree," she leaned in to whisper in Alicia’s ears.
The latter frowned in disapproval.
"No, Cyprian. If you refuse, you’ll only dampen the spirit of the party. Plus it’s not like you are shy, I’m sure of that."
Cyprian sighed, rolling her eyes. She turned to the expectant crowd and smiled, a bright cheerful one that made her look like she was enjoying the party, before turning...
The last thing Cyprian remembered as she felt herself falling to the ground was the startled ’ohs’ and ’Ahs’ of the crowd.
When she opened her eyes, a worried Alicia’s face was hovering above hers, her lips set into a thin line.
"Oh my god, Cyprian, you’re awake? I’ll go get the doctor! Stay put on that bed and don’t get up!" she ordered, rushing away from Cyprian’s bedside.
The latter could smell the antiseptic scent usually associated with hospitals, and she sighed, looking around to make sure of where she was. From the sight of nurses in uniform scurrying about and the other beds which were placed beside hers, Cyprian realized she was in the emergency floor of whichever hospital they were in.
"What happened?" she breathed, sitting up on the bed.
"You fainted at the party," replied Alicia who was just arriving with a middle aged female doctor beside her.
"How are you feeling?" The doctor asked.
"A little bit weak, but apart from that I’m totally alright," Cyprian replied.
"It’s great that you are feeling good. But you still have to tell me why you took so much wine on an empty stomach, in a pregnant state."
Cyprian stared dumbstruck at the doctor. She was really finding it hard to process what the woman words meant. She could understand them when on their own, but if put together, she was finding it hard to. Especially the last statement.
"Are you listening to me, Miss? Or is it a Mrs?" the doctor asked.
"I—Yeah, I’m surely listening to you but I find it hard to...Who is pregnant?" she asked.
"You, of course. Don’t tell me you weren’t aware."
Cyprian sighed, cradling her head in her hands.
"I didn’t know...Is—is the baby safe?"
"Yes, the baby is safe. Just an advice for you to stay careful, alright?" the doctor raised her brows.
Cyprian nodded and didn’t say anything else while Alicia moved to one side to continue speaking with the doctor. What they were talking about, Cyprian didn’t want to know. She just knew she had messed up. She was still a student for goodness sake!
All of a sudden she looked up and started searching for her bag. She found it on a cabinet by her bedside and picked it up, fiddling through it for her phone. The instant she felt the familiar feel the device had on her hand, she pulled it out.
She had to call Raymond. There were two options to this. It was either he approved or disapproved but from there, she would be able to know her next step. For now, she just needed him to calm down her frayed nerves and tell her everything would be alright.
But how was that possible when he didn’t even pick her call?
The phone fell onto the bed from her weak hands and Alicia’s keen eyes was quick to pick up on that action even though she was not near Cyprian. She concluded her conversation with the doctor and walked over, her gaze set in determination.
"Was he the one you tried calling just now?" she asked.
"Yeah," Cyprian mumbled.
"And he didn’t pick up, did he?"
"He didn’t."
Alicia sighed, "That’s it. He’s forgotten you, or worse. He’s didn’t block you, right? That can only mean he intends to keep using you."
Cyprian looked up, her eyes widened in shock.
"What are you saying, Alice? Ray is not like that," she defended Raymond even though she herself was no longer sure he was as she thought.
Alicia scoffed in disbelief.
"Is that so? Tell me, Rian, when last did you see him? Or when last did he call you? Don’t be so foolish."
"No, I’ll wait. I didn’t call him since he left so I think that’s probably the reason why he didn’t think of reaching out to me. Since I called this night, he’s going to call back. Trust me, Alice, Raymond isn’t like that."
Cyprian felt herself falling deeper and deeper into the despair of ’what if’ as she talked.
