Chapter 14 - 13 - Demonic Authority

For the rest of his birthday, Caliste remained silent. He didn't attempt to make conversation, and the others quickly noticed how bad his mood was.

They tried their best to ignore what had been said, but Caliste couldn't. His mind was solely fixated on it.

Aleia and Ava weren't sure what to make of the situation. The last time they had seen Caliste this angry was perhaps when the Demon King had visited. His rage was so intense that it felt like he was ready to tear apart everyone sitting around him. It even seeped into his manner of speech, his words laced with barely contained fury.

Ava glanced at him with concern, knowing full well that his anger hadn't subsided. It saddened her.

This was supposed to be Caliste's 18th birthday—the greatest day of his life. They had done everything in their power to make it perfect, but those elves had completely ruined it.

"Does everyone like their food?" the woman from earlier asked, having noticed the shift in the atmosphere.

The table was quiet, everyone barely speaking as they ate. She could tell something had happened, though she had no idea how to fix it.

"Yeah, it's fine," Ava said dismissively.

"What about you, young man?" the woman asked, directing her attention to Caliste. He had barely touched his plate, idly playing with his fork.

Caliste kept his head down, struggling to contain himself. Then, without thinking, he spoke.

"Leave. Leave us alone."

For a brief moment, the woman's expression shifted, as if she had just received an order she could not refuse. Without hesitation, she simply nodded and left without another word.

Ava and Aleia's eyes widened.

Did he just use his Demonic Authority on someone? But how? Ava thought, shaking her head in disbelief. That's a power only the Demon King can wield.

She wasn't entirely sure if that was what had happened—it had all been so quick. But everything seemed to point in that direction. The way the woman had responded... it had looked exactly like when the Demon King exercised his authority.

Ava and Aleia exchanged glances, unable to ask questions just yet. However, one thing was certain—this was something that needed to be kept secret.

For the remainder of the dinner, small attempts at conversation were made, but each one failed miserably.

Before long, the evening came to an end.

Disappointment lingered in the air. This was supposed to be a night of celebration, but instead... it had turned into this.

Everyone stood from their seats.

"Even if we had our differences, it was nice to see you again," Ava told Alder.

The others exchanged their own goodbyes before it was time for Alder's family to say farewell to Caliste. He met them with a neutral gaze—no anger, no rage. Just emptiness. It was almost unsettling.

"It was nice to see you, Caliste. I hope you and my daughter can become great friends at the Academy," Alder said.

Caliste gave a disinterested nod.

His wife said something similar, earning the same reaction. Then, it was Fleur's turn.

"Just so you know, you ruined everyone's dinner with your stupid tantrums," she said flatly. "I don't care about your opinions on what happened years ago, but you ruined my 18th birthday. I just wanted you to know that."

She didn't say goodbye. She didn't apologize.

Caliste was momentarily stunned. Fleur, the girl who had barely spoken a word all evening, had finally broken her silence—and it was to say that.

"Hm... well, you ruined mine too. Remember?" he replied.

She sighed. "You did that to yourself."

Caliste opened his mouth, but the words caught in his throat.

...

He wanted to tell them the truth. That they were wrong. That their father and grandfather weren't heroes—they were the worst scum in this world. But he couldn't.

Instead, he shook his head.

"Maybe one day, you'll understand just how ignorant you all really are."

With that, he turned away.

"See you at the Demonic Academy."

Fleur frowned but said nothing else.

And with that, they left.

Nothing more happened, but in the back of his mind, Caliste was already contemplating ways to utterly destroy that family. He would use every means at his disposal—once he was calm and collected again.

This supper, however, was not one of those times.

Shortly after, they were back in the limousine. Ava and Aleia sat awkwardly beside Caliste, who still wasn't himself.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Ava asked, worried something was seriously wrong with her son.

He shook his head. "There's no point."

Ava nodded hesitantly. "A-About something you did earlier..."

She wasn't sure if this was the right time to bring it up, but she pressed on anyway.

"When you told the waitress to leave... did you intend to make her listen to you?"

"Yes? I was tired of hearing her."

"Did you... use some kind of power?"

Caliste frowned. "Uh... probably not. Why?"

Ava and Aleia exchanged a glance before shaking their heads.

"No reason. Just forget about it—it's not important."

Switching to a brighter tone, Ava forced a smile. "Come on! The night isn't over yet! We can still have fun, don't you think?"

She was trying her best to salvage the birthday, but it was going to be a challenge.

"You know..." Ava said with a blush, shifting the subject. "We could help you with that stiffness from earlier..."

Her hand moved on its own, sliding toward his crotch.

As she began to rub, she immediately felt something growing longer and harder beneath his clothes.

All the thoughts clouding Caliste's mind faded away.

He didn't say a word as Ava's fingers trailed lower, slowly unzipping his pants.

With his last strand of rationality left, Caliste stopped her by placing his hand and grabbing her's.

"W-We can't do something like this..."

Ava realized her actions and moved her hand, her face completely red.

However, Aleia who was on his right frowned slightly, not understanding anything that was happening.

A few minutes later, they were back in the Demon King's castle where Aleia noticed the strange atmosphere that had formed and she wanted to calm things down.

"Mhm... do you guys want to take a bath? We could relax that way."
